Chapter 50: Confronting the Monster

Lunch time came around and Ella was excited. She stood up from her desk and left the classroom. She watched as all the students poured out of their classrooms and gathered to mingle with each other. As she was walking through the sea of students, she saw someone flagging her down. Trent! The boy from the bus. Her eyes lit up as she rush toward him.

"How are you enjoying yourself, Ella?," Trent said. "How is your first day going?"

"It's going really well," Ella said with a smile.

"That's good...hey! Would you like to hang out with me?," Trent offered.

She smiled as she felt her heart beat in her chest.

"S-sure...," she said as she blushed and looked to the side.

"Follow me, I know a great spot!," Trent as he lead her away from the giant herd of students.

He lead her to a stair case on the side of a building. It was incredibly less cluttered then the main area.

"So, East City, huh? Seems like the place to be. Why move here?," Trent said.

"Wha?...oh! Um...place of opportunity I guess...,"Ella said as her eyes stared to drift away from Trent's gaze.

"I got ya. I am from West City...or my family was...frankly I don't like what they have become, even though they are leaf blades...they are all idiots...," Trent said. "Fire blades make me sick..."

"Fire...blades...?," Ella thought."I-is that...boy you poured hot sauce on...is he a...,"

"...fire blade? Yes he is," Trent said completing Ella's sentence.

"W-where does he usually hang out...?," Ella asked.

"Owen?," Trent asked.

"Is that his name...?," Ella responded.

"He usually hangs in the magic room with Professor Cole. That is because no one in their right mind would ever hang out with a moron like that," Trent said unzipping his backpack.

Trent then got out his lunch and looked at Ella.

"Why do you ask?," Trent asked.

"N-no reason," Ella said.

"D-do you have a lunch?," Trent asked.

"A lunch? Well, of course, I...," Ella said as she dug around her backpack."do...? Oh NO!! I forgot it at home! And I didnt even eat breakfast!!"

Ella sat and buried her head in her hands.

"Here," Trent said handing her a bag of potato chips. "I wasn't even going to eat it anyway...,"

Ella gazed at it and lightly took it and opened it up.

"Th...thank you," Ella said.

Trent just nodded and continued eating his lunch. Ella started taking chips and eating it ravenously. The chips that Trent gave her were so delicious, so salty and savory. While she was enjoying the chips, she saw a boy walk in front of her and Trent. The boy had blonde hair.

"Owen!," Ella said startled at the sight of him.

Trent then looked up from his lunch. Trent spotted him as he was walking by and yelled at him.

"HEY LOSER!," Trent said as he stood up. Owen then turned to look at them. Owen had an annoyed look on his face as he turned.

"Not now, Trent. I am not in the mood...," Owen said trailing off in an annoyed tone.

"What loser? You think you have balls?," Trent said walking up to him. "You are trash. Dont you DARE talk to me like that!"

Trent spat as he yelled which made Owen cover his face. Owen then whipped the spit off of his face in disgust.

"I will talk to you like that! I said I am not in the MOOD!," Owen yelled the loudest he could.

All the surrounding students glanced over in awe as they heard the uproar. They started swarming around them in expectation. Ella then stood up and walked over to Trent.

"Well, if that is so then. Why not brawl me!," Trent yelled.

Owen got angry. He clasped his fists. His heart was racing in complete and utter rage. He lowered his body a bit, but then stopped. He then sighed.

"I said that I won't fight you...no matter how much you want to die...," Owen said.

The crowd became silent and seemed to glance at Trent. Looking for some kind of response. Trent was speechless. He couldnt utter a word.

Ella then stepped in between them and glared at Owen.

"It's time for you to stop," Ella said. "Can't you see that you are hurting him. He has done nothing to deserve this"

"He has twisted your mind I see...," Owen said staring at her.

"What? No! He told me the truth. You are a monster, Owen...," Ella said.

"...a...monster, huh...that's what he told you...?," Owen asked in a disappointed tone.

"Yeah, do you think your murderous antics have a place at this school? No...that's why we will do everything in our power to stop you...," Ella said.

Owen thought for a minute. Collecting himself. Thinking of what he needs to say. A monster? Why? Did everyone feel this way?

Owen then spoke: "If I am just a monster...then...slay me..."

Owen then closed his eyes.

"I wanna join them...My mother...My father...everyone...the nice people who left this world...," Owen said as tears streamed down his face. " I want to speak with the creators...see the reason why they put me here...to only have to world hate me..."

Ella then sighed.

"I just think...it would be best if you left...," Ella said.

The crowd gazed at Owen. Owen looked at all the eyes that were fixated on him. Mean and angry looks of people. People that didnt want him around. Owen just said nothing. Not a sound could be heard, but of Owen turning and walking away. He pushed himself through the crowd of people and continued.

Ella just sighed and looked back at Trent.

"Y-you ok...?," Ella asked. Trent didn't answer.

Trent just turned, grabbed his back and walked away...
