Nathan walked to Donnie Nietes side and used (High Heal) to cure Nietes injuries. After few seconds, Nietes opened his eyes and slowly stood up with the help of his coach. He congratulated Nathan, the ref raised his hand and the rep. of WBO put the belt around his waist.

(Our new WBO Mini Flyweight champion, what you're feeling right now, Nathan?) Dyan Castillejo asked.

(It felt surreal this moment, it's a dream come true to fight and won this belt against a tough opponent like Donnie Nietes) Nathan replied.

(What's your plan after this fight, any boxers in your radar or rest?) Dyan Castillejo asked.

(Defend the title, fight another champion or move up in weight later. This will depend on my next fight and future plans so anything is possible.) Nathan replied.

(Any last message, Nathan?) Dyan Castillejo asked.

(I would like thank God first for giving me a healthy body. Second is my family for their never-ending support throughout my career and stayed with me during hard times. Lastly, I dedicate this title to Mother who'll never see me wear this after cancer took her away.) Nathan said.

His next bout is June 18 against the IBF Mini Flyweight champion, Nkosinathi Joyi of South Africa and the venue is in East London, South Africa. The same like the previous one, it didn't go beyond the first round and ended via KO. Nathan next fought Kazuto Ioka in Kobe, Japan on August to unify the belts with Ioka's WBC and WBA belts.

It was a 3 fights winning streak, after he Nathan landed combinations on Ioka's stomach and ended the fight via KO. He vacated the Minimumweight title to move up to light flyweight and fought in Bangkok, Thailand against Kompayak Porpramook for the WBC light flyweight title on October 24, 2011. Nathan won another KO in the bout with a powerful left hook and defended it once before moving up to flyweight.

He faced the flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane on December 2011 and won via KO on the first round of the fight.
