Polished Jade Tower, Book-Servant (3)

Bookshelf in the northeast direction, leaning on the lonesome corner with a few instruction booklets. On the north and northwest, the room came along with four panels of the bamboo window with a hard paper screen. On the wall leaning with the room beside is a spacious bed made from Jade Feathered Fowl, from the mattress to the pillow and blanket.

Two side tables accompanied the bed, giving the owner of the room a sense of belonging and convenience. Although space is limited, it is still enough for him to store about ten Jade Bottles to a stack of theory books.

On the southwest and south corner of the room comes a kitchen with a modern Ice Jade Shelf. This cabinet alone cost at least fifty to sixty Soul Jades to purchase, and that is excluding the cost of maintaining the temperature inside the cabinet. Using this, he can retain the freshness of his ingredients by at least six months.

In the middle of the room is a dining table for four, along with a lower-quality jade tea set used to entertain both owner and guest. Although the furniture is made from lumber found around the province, they're not shabby at all compared to his own wooden hut.

Finally, the southeast is where the door located, along with a cabinet acting as a blind in the east. This itself follows the custom of local folks and their belief, which belives that luck comes in from the southeast.

Of course, the main point of this room is not because of how well it is furnished, but because of the Imprinting Cabinet cannot be opened by others except the owner himself. This way, Yang Guang has no worries whenever he's out from the room, unlike when he's still in his broken hut.

"I hope you like the room. After all, Elder Yi personally designs the room's layout to help the disciples to appreciate their room properly." brother Tian explains the reason the room is furnished like this.

"Of course, this is only to the book-servants. If the time you're accepted as their outer sect disciple, the treatment is even better." brother Tian continued. At this moment, Yang Guang finally had a question in his mind.

Brother Min Rong is a cultivator of the 7th layer, and Brother Tian seems to be much stronger than him. If both of them are still only a Book-Servant for the Polished Jade Tower, what kind of quality would he need to be accepted as an outer sect disciple?

He started to questions the authenticity of the news about the requirement to enter a sect. Perhaps, it might be a more easygoing version of disciple examination that won't hurt the pride of those that failed in the test.

"Brother Tian. To be given a room like this even before I contribute to the sect only made me appreciate the sect's kindness much more. Please guide Yang Guang so I can do my best to help the sect." he cupped his hand at Brother Tian, although it wasn't brother Tian that gives him everything here.

"Enough with these courtesies. I'm not that sort of bad senior brother. Since Elder Yi already said you'll be helping with the chores tomorrow, we'll wait until tomorrow for your proper instruction. Today, we'll enjoy our day running around the manor!"

"And remember, my name is Tian Peng! Don't forget, little brother Yang Guang!" Tian Peng left the room with his hand urging Yang Guang to follow him. The two smiled at each other as they run around the manor like two innocent kids.

...

"Do you like the room Tian-Er gives you?" Elder Yi asked. It already the second day morning. All disciples of the Mystic Tower is here greeting the elders in the morning as they followed the elder's arrangement on which department to go.

"Guang-Er thank Elder Yi for giving out a room while junior is helping around. Elder Yi, please be at ease." Yang Guang kneeled on one knee and cupped his hand together.

"Hahaha... Good lad. Cultivation can be nurtured, but a person's character is hard to mold. To know about appreciation and returning the favor this young explains why Old Mang speaks about you frequently." Elder Yi patted Yang Guang's shoulder.

"Elder, did Uncle Mang mention about me a lot?" Yang Guang cannot believe what he heard! It seems uncle Mang is the main reason behind his sudden acceptance into the Polished Jade Tower earlier than others. This has also happened before he reaches the cultivation requirement.

"Old Mang did mention about your skill in culinary. But here, we allow everyone to do what they love to do. Although you're not allowed to jump here and there as you like, you're given a chance to choose a new subject once a year."

"This means you're allowed to join the Thunder Tower or Tempering Tower after you finish a year of study inside Mystic Tower. The Polished Jade Tower will not stop you from learning more." Elder Yi smiles as he continues to explain.

"Guang-Er will not disappoint Elder Yi for giving this child a chance. I will appreciate it as long as I live." Yang Guang knows that this is the chance for him to change over from a nobody to someone with an opportunity. At least, these changes bring him two steps faster into the future.

"Good. Follow this old man. Tian-Er as well. We're going to use the cauldron today." Elder Yi made his move first, with Tian Peng following behind.

"Brother Tian, why are you shaking your head?" Yang Guang asked.

"We're borrowing a medicinal cauldron, but elder love to roast sweet potatoes using that, and not concocting pills." Tian Peng sighed as they follow the elder.

Soon, the three hides behind the thirteenth residential wing eating the roasted sweet potatoes.

...

"Brother Tian, did elder just waste a day of our time eating potatoes and hiding?" Yang Guang cannot believe that is what happens on his first day here!

"He's doing this on purpose! Quickly follow me to the back courtyard and harvest twenty stalks of Azure Jade Grass with me. We're going to miss our dinner if we failed to deliver them to the Servant's Office!"

Tian Peng's sudden rush startled Yang Guang.

And he thought that his first day inside the Polished Jade Tower is suspiciously peaceful! This is just the first day for him, and he's going to miss the dinner?
