I awoke to my screeching alarm clock which nearly scared me off my bed. I turned my alarm clock off and head to the bathroom to take a shower. I turn on the water to my shower and adjust it to my liking. Today is the day, yesterday mom and I finished packing the living room and the kitchen together, Antthony didn't help until nearly 5 pm. He slept all day because he didn't finish packing his room till 7 am. He mostly helped with the kitchen. I start taking my pajamas off and start to head into the shower, I hope today will go nice and smooth.
After I'm done with my shower, I brush my hair and my teeth, I then head to the only outfit that wasn't packed away for today. It was just a Twenty One Pilots hoodie, I decided that I wouldn't need a shirt underneath and some black leggings. I then grab my Nike slides and start preparing to leave my childhood home. We had a moving truck show up with moving people about an hour ago. They had already started moving all the boxes and furniture onto the truck while I was in the shower. My brother helped them move the boxes while my mom was making sure everything was going smoothly. After I finish getting dressed and ready, I start bringing my boxes down from my room. I grab the ones full of clothes first because they are the lightest ones. When I got downstairs with my first box, I noticed that the living room and kitchen stuff were already packed in the truck and now everyone is working on the bedrooms. A tall dark man with beautiful hazel eyes walked up to me and took my box from my hands.
"Is your room ready to be taken to the truck ma'am?" The tall man asked
"Yeah go ahead, everything is packed and ready."
He shouted behind him to his coworkers, "Alright boys, let's head upstairs and finish up packing, we should be out of here in 20 minutes."
"Yes sir." They replied back.
I just sat there and watched them work in amazement. Every time I tried to help, someone would come along and take whatever was in my hands away and put it in the truck for me, I guess they don't want the women working too hard. They definitely have my brother working hard. They are stacking three boxes on top of one another and then my brother carries them away to the truck.
"Kayla, let's get some water ready for them, I know they are thirsty."
"Okay mom" I replied.
Me and mom go and make 8 cold glasses of water for them. By the time we finish setting the water up they finish up with the last boxes.
"Everyone, here's some cold water for y'all." My mother proclaimed.
"Yes! Thank you ma'am!" The short curly haired boy exclaimed.
"No problem, it's for all your hard work!" My mom said proudly.
As everyone starts drinking from their glasses, I start feeling a little sad that we are about to leave. I've spent so many years here. It looks so empty. Actually I don't think I've ever seen it this empty before. I start heading upstairs to "my" room and look around one last time. I go to my closet, then my bathroom. I just can't believe it. We really are moving. Am I going to make it my Junior year at another school? School starts in 2 days! Can I handle it? Will I make new friends? Will people like me?
"Kayla?" My brother called my name from the doorway. "Let's go girly." He said while stretching his arms out for me.
I go to him and hug him tight. Although we fight a lot, he is always there for me when I need him the most. He rubs my back gently while we hug.
"I know you don't like change very much, but don't be afraid. Especially since I'll be right next to you." He said calming me down.
He's right, I don't need to think about the what ifs. As long as him and mom are by my side, then nothing else matters. Living in the new house will be just another day.
I look up to him and smile. "Alright, let's go." I said as we start walking down together.
Mom was already in the car and the moving people were already in the moving truck. Antthony locks the door for the last time and we head to my moms car.
