Both of them were silent for half of the ride back to Paris.
Jennifer was busy thinking of a way to ask him about the man on the phone, though she wanted him to take the initiative of explaining the things.
While, Emmett was trying to think of an excuse so that he would be able to meet her parents. Hearing her speaking with her mother on the phone, he was quite sure that her mother was excited with her having a boyfriend. And he was sure that she would be happy to see him.
And if he was to go to her house, her mother would surely ask him stay for dinner and this would help him in getting close to her, by first getting closer to her parents. This was what he had been planning since they had left the hotel.
Emmett's thought were cut midway when he heard the girl beside him cleared her throat.
He looked sideways at the girl, making sure that he would also be able to get the view of the road ahead.
"Do you by any chance already have a boyfriend?"
Though it sounded weird, she couldn't help but ask him.
Emmett saw this coming after she heard Axel calling him darling and talking all sweet like he was his boyfriend.
And he did think of a solution, but he wasn't sure if she would believe him as she had a firm belief that he was a gay.
"He is my childhood friend and he likes to tease me, so don't take his words seriously."
Emmett paused as he looked at her sideways, when he saw no reaction on her face he continued, "He always does that and so I hope this wouldn't make a problem between us in the future."
Finally he saw her frown, as she looked at him, "I understand."
Emmett hummed as he put back his focus on the road.
He didn't know if she was convinced with whatever he said, but he hoped that she would, so that she would not bring up this topic again.
Jennifer was in deep thought after she heard him explaining about the earlier matter. It seemed a valid reason to her, but she still couldn't come over the fact that he was a gay.
It was common for childhood friends to call each other by some names or tease each other, but she still felt that Emmett wasn't the one to do these kind of things.
It was because he liked to refrain himself from mixing with others. This didn't mean that she thought of him as a man who couldn't enjoy himself. It was just that she was finding it hard to imagine him teasing someone and asking for a kiss!!
Jennifer shook her head to stop all the unnecessary thoughts that were making her more confused. She for now decided to just forget about that topic.
Instead she started thinking of some reason which would keep him from coming all the way to her house. She didn't want her family, especially her mother to know about him, at least not for now when she wasn't even confirm about her future. Hence she decided to use the most common way.
She looked at him and spoke,"You can just drop me at the junction near my house. I can go on my own from there."
"No." He directly rejected her without even explaining further the reason, as he continued to drive without looking at her.
Well, she couldn't blame him as he was a man of few words.
But she hadn't expected him to decline her in such a way.
He gazed back at her without saying a word, after making a quick turn on the road.
And when she looked at him questioningly, he spoke, "I will drop you at your house. I don't want to be called an irresponsible boyfriend and also it would not look nice if you walk back home with your luggage all alone, when your mother had come to know that you were with a man, all alone in the hotel room."
Jennifer's eyes widened slightly at his use of words.
What the hell does he mean by her staying with a man all alone in the hotel room?!
Okay he hadn't use the word stay but his words meant the same. Also his words sounded so ambiguous!! It sounded like she had slept with him in the hotel room.
Jennifer now had finally confirmed one thing that even if the man in front of her had a negative EQ, but he was also shameless at some point. And also that his shamelessness knew no bound.
"What the hell do you mean by us staying in the same room? It was because I was too tired and slept on your couch so I had stayed in your room or else I would have booked another one." She countered back, sounding little irritated by the way he was teasing her.
In her mind she knew that she was just bluffing and from the start she had planned on staying in his room as a guest.
She wasn't shameless, okay? She had a valid reason to do so. She could have booked a new room, but she felt that it wouldn't be that bad in staying in his room as booking another room will cost her a lot.
Emmett could easily seethrough her excuse. His pinkish-red lips curved up as he smiled at her excuse. But he quickly returned back to his normal stoic face as he didn't want her to find out that he was purposely teasing her with his words.
Also whom was she fooling?
He wasn't some random guy who could be fooled with some mere words.
But he just decided to go with her, as he wanted to meet her parents today itself so that he would have the upper hand in the future, as he would get her parent's consent and he was sure he would. And for that he would need to first make sure that she doesn't get angry or upset with him.
"The literal meaning. Why? Did you take it in some other way?" He said looking at her with his not so 'innocent' look.
"No, not at all." Her response was quick as she denied it immediately.
"You denying it too quickly had me thinking that you were indeed having some dirty thoughts. Why? You wanted something to happen between us? Well I would make sure that we would do something productive the next time we stay in a hotel, okay?"
"There wouldn't be a next time." Saying this Jennifer quickly looked out of the car to make sure that he wouldn't get to see her face, because she was sure she looked like an embarrassed girl, with the way her cheeks seemed to have burned and covered with a slight pinkish blush. She wondered how he could simply speak something like that?
But she forgot about one thing that the car also had a wing mirror and Emmett saw her expression in the mirror and he had to force down a chuckle which was threatening to come out of his throat, with the way she looked now.
For the rest of the ride no one spoke a word. Emmett was happy though he still had a poker face, but his eyes had mirth in them, whereas Jennifer was yet to come out of the embarrassment caused due to his words.
Though there was silence in the car, the atmosphere was harmonious. Even if Jennifer had signed a fake-girlfriend contract with him, now they both really looked like a couple in love.

Author's Note- How was the chapter guys? I mean you must have noticed that it was a bit lengthy than my previous chapters.
I have actually decided to increase my word counts for the upcoming chapters, that makes it 1.2k+ words for each chapter starting from this arc. Don't worry about the previous chapters as they have been joined together, so you will not miss anything. Also I will only be able to update 1 chapter a day. You see from now on the chapters would contain more than the previous ones and if we add the word counts of my update for a day, nothing really changes. Just it is that I decided to write one big chapter instead of the two chapters (600 words each) which I usually write.
This would make it easy for you if the book ever goes premium. As for now, I am not planning on making it premium so you guys can enjoy free chapters.
