Her Decision: Experiencing Romance (4)

They reached the hospital in twenty minutes.

Jennifer was surprised by Emmett's driving skills. He effortlessly drove them through the road and she didn't even feel uncomfortable in the whole journey of twenty minutes.

After parking the car, Emmett opened the back door and carried Jennifer in a princess carry.

"Put me down. I will-" He didn't let her complete as he glared at her making her close her mouth instantly.

Okay. She wasn't going to insist.

He walked in large strides towards a special looking elevator in the basement. Punching in some random numbers, he got inside with her still in his arms.

Jennifer was confused as to why he used the different elevator which had some crafty design on it and that too from the basement.

Noticing her confused face, Emmett commented, "This is my friend's hospital. He has given me access to his private elevator."

Jennifer nodded her head in understanding.

Emmett took out his phone and made a call, "There is an emergency, be there in your office in two minutes." He didn't let the person on the other side speak as he ended the call.

As they reached the twentieth floor where his friend's office was located, Jennifer hurriedly hid her face in his chest. She didn't want others to see her in this state.

Emmett laughed at her antics which made his chest vibrate rhythmically making Jennifer's heart lurch at his chest's up and down movement.

How was he so charismatic when he laughed? She would love to hear him laugh again.

She was so busy admiring him that she didn't even hear the door opening, nor did she hear whispers around them and neither did she hear someone greeting Emmett.

A loud noise made her jerk her head and look at the source to find a man in a white coat lying on the floor with some of the medical pieces of equipment spread beside him.

She blinked her eyes then looked at Emmett who was looking at the man with a scowl.

She looked back at the man who had gotten up and was dusting his clothes.

"What a surprise!! Hehe..I wasn't expecting you here with a girl..I thought you liked boys." His voice was barely audible at the end.

But the two, who had quite good hearing were able to get a grasp of his words.

Emmett's eyes darkened whereas Jennifer looked at the man, squinting her eyes as if scrutinising him.

How dare he say that about her man!! Cough! What he said might be true but she still had her doubts which were yet to be confirmed.

Also, she was surprised that the man casually teased Emmett.

From what she had heard and the time she spent with Emmett, she could tell that this man didn't like to mingle with others, he was very secretive and reserved. He didn't have many friends, as she didn't see him speak freely with anyone apart from his secretary and cousin-in-law.

Jennifer realised that she didn't really know him that well but she still fell for him. So she made a note to ask him more about himself and get to know him better.

"I see you are very ideal nowadays, Jules. How about I see if there is some need for a doctor in Country B(A/N: not a real country) so that you can go there for a few months? Or should I send you to Africa to accompany my brother?"

Jules smiled awkwardly as he waved his hand, "I am very happy here Emmett. I also have a lot of work and appointments here so no need to send me anywhere. Also, I am a human doctor and not a veterinary doctor so no need to go to South Africa for that."

Meanwhile, Derek was having the worst time of his life.

"Brother I hate you!!" He screamed as he climbed up the tree upon hearing a roar from somewhere near him.

"Help!!! Ah!! Somebody help me!"

"Hey, don't you come near me. I still haven't married yet, I don't even have a girlfriend now. Spare me, please. Go away! Nooo!!"

Emmett put Jennifer on the bed in Jules clinic.

"She has sprained her ankle."

Jules looked at Emmett in disbelief. Just an ankle sprain??

For such a simple reason he had to come and attend to her, leaving behind his angry girlfriend who would probably break up with him soon if he doesn't go on a date with her. He had been postponing their date for 3 months now because of this devil who had given him a very important project. And now because of him again he couldn't enjoy his date.

Jules felt like crying. He must seek justice. He will just try to get on the good side of his future sister-in-law, hehe.

He forcefully smiled at Emmett and he turned his attention towards her ankle.

The part on her ankle had become bluish-purple which looked ghastly on her white porcelain skin.

Jules furrowed his brows as he touched the affected part.

A hiss left Jennifer's mouth as he put a bit of pressure on it.

"This looks a bit severe. Did you have frequent sprains? Or is there an old injury perhaps? Your ankle is swollen badly. I suggest we get an MRI scan done."

"I did have an old injury. Is it that severe? Will it affect my daily activities?" Jennifer asked worriedly. She had yet to solve Felix case and she might have to perform a few stunts as she had a secret mission to perform.

"It will," He replied truthfully, "But I will still check how severe your condition is. I do not suggest an MRI scan on the first visit to anyone but your injury looks serious so will have to get done with it. Follow me to the other room for the MRI scan." He got up and walked out with Emmett carrying Jennifer in his arms.

After doing MRI Scan, the trio went back to Jules's cabin.

Jules had a serious look on his face as he scanned through the reports.

"You condition is indeed serious as I thought. Your ligaments are injured and you have a small crack on your bone."

"How long will it take my ankle to recover?"

"At least one month with ample rest. No strenuous activities and complete bed rest." Though he spoke to Jennifer, his words were directed to Emmett.

Being her boyfriend he will have to look after her.

Seeing his friend having a serious look, Emmett understood that the injury was indeed very severe.

"Can I talk with you alone buddy? It's been a long time since we met. Maybe three months or more?"

"No need, I will take my leave now."

Dang, did he have to be so cruel?

"Hoes before bros, huhuhu!!" Jules made a crying face.

"You look hideous," Emmett uttered with a straight face.

Geez, why did this man have to be so cruel and straightforward!!

"You should probably stay and talk with him. What if he has something important to talk about? I will just wait outside." Jennifer said as she smiled at Emmett, assuring him that she was alright and he should probably have some chat with his friend.

Emmett nodded, "Okay. You wait here we will talk outside."

Jules had a look of disbelief. When did this friend of his become so obedient and that too towards a woman? This was the first time someone was able to convince this cold face man.

He made a mental note to gossip and extract some information from Derek, as he was sure Emmett would keep mum and wouldn't tell him anything.

"Let's go and make it quick."

"Yes, boss!! After you."

Jules gave a big smile to Jennifer, "We won't keep you waiting for long sister-in-law."

Jennifer just nodded at him as she watched the man following Emmett as he kept playfully poking him on his back and murmuring something, in response, Emmett just gave him a deadly stare and said something which made Jules shut his mouth and obediently follow him outside.

A/N: Couldn't write for the past 2 months. Had a lot of things on my side.

I am getting frustrated and I know you are too as I am unable to update the chapter on time. But, I can't help it. Man! I have a lot of work on my hand. Also, due to the overuse of the screen, my specs number has increased giving me constant headaches and blurry eyesight.

Hopefully, hopefully, I will have less work from now on so that I can focus here on writing. You see, it takes around two hours to write a whole chapter and that too without editing. Tons of my chapters are unedited as they take a lot of time.

I just hope this covid ends soon and we can get back on our daily schedule.

For this next month and the upcoming months till I fix everything on my side, the chapters will be posted after every 2 days, i.e Mon-Thu-Sun-Wed-Sat-Tue-Fri and it repeats.

So the next chapter is on Thursday.
