"So after you get your sister back… again… what then?" Saundra takes her new bow that she had bought from the city and aims it towards a fruit hanging off a tree. Seeing where she was aiming Damon shook his head.
"That's not food for a human. After Iona helps Fanella I think I will take Iona to the Arctans. That is only if Fanella doesn't decide to face the war herself. They wouldn't stand a chance." Damon smells the air and confused he looks around smelling the air again. Saundra lowers her bow and her head with a smile.
"You have a weird faith in that one. I get she's a princess who has magic and thats great, but the thing that makes and breaks people like her is her confidence. She can fake it all she wants, but from what I can see she has none. Even if she decided to fight she would break."
"I guess thats the difference between you and I. I see hope where you see weakness." Damon stops and looks around smelling the air again and continues to walk.
"If hope means I trust a family member to a species that has a bad reputation, then I'd rather see weakness."
"What is your part in all this anyway, you have nothing to gain anymore. I don't need you to track them, so why are you still here?" Damon changes the topic seeing that Saundra is getting uneasy with the conversation.
"I...what are you smelling for, its really distracting?" Saundra smells the air and looks back at Damon confused.
"Well… Hatred has a scent, it manifests in Elves in a scary way and that's very true for Light Elves. It's hard to say because other than Fanella I have never met a Light Elve, and especially not one that has so much hatred." Damon tries to explain.
"Ok listen here! You and the Princess can talk circles all you want, but with me you have to be straight! What the hell are you talking about?"
"There are angry Light Elves nearby. But it seems like they are trying to calm down."
"They must have gotten trapped." Saundra sighs.
"We should lend them a hand." Damon begins moving towards the mountains east of them.
"I don't think that is a good idea. We don't know who they are or what they want." Saundra shakes her head.
"I don't think it's a good idea either. But we can test them." Damon closes his eyes and raises his hands palms down towards the ground, chanting something. To which creatures come from the ground and take life forms.
"You can do that! Dang you elves like pulling tricks out of your sleeves. Can you make it look scarier?" Saundra walks up to a Pearl Crested Deer and looks at it trying to figure it out.
"What would that accomplish?" Damon placed his hand to his head laughing.
"Oh come on! I dare you!" Saundra squints. Damon takes a deep breath.
"Alright, but there is a reason why I don't do this in front of anyone. You asked for it though, and you may want to get into one of those trees." Damon motioned over.
"You don't think I can handle it?" Saundra pulls out her knife.
"I just don't think you should run in blind." Damon shrugs with a smirk, in all honesty he believed Saundra deserved this.
"I am a huntress, I can handle myself." Saundra bent her knees to take a defensive stance.
"Verywell…" Damon spoke a word as his eyes glowed an icy blue. Saundra with her eyes fixed on the Deer, began to feel cold and scared. She was going to die. The jaw of the Deer unhinged and it looked like its insides were rotten. The skin began to turn moldy green.
"Stop! Stop! Stop!" Saundra screams as Damon reverts the deer to its original beauty.
"Its ok, it was just a bad dream." Damon assured her. It definitely wasn't as bad as he could have made it, maybe a 6 out of 10.
"You are still mad at me. I want to see what you do with someone who hurts her." Saundra began to laugh, wiping off her tears. She pulled away from Damons touch.
"Saundra…" Damon felt upset with himself for being so cruel.
"No! Its ok! I deserve it." She stood up and got her barings before dusting off her knees.
"Saundra!" Damon called out to her again.
"Come on! Let's go save the Princess's friends!" Saundra went up to one of the trees and began to climb up it.
