Chapter 20

Natasha, quite childishly she might admit, ignored Daniel's calls and texts that day, and the day after that. She didn't know what to say to him, if anything, about what she saw.

She was after all his sub and he, as a dom, had no obligations to be exclusive as some would put it. He might own her in his world, but the opposite was not correct.

What was there to expect?

On Wednesday, as she exited campus, heading to the dorm, a car she knew only too well stopped right next to her.

"Get in," he ordered.

She kept on walking, ignoring him, despite her treacherous insides which had melted at the sound of his voice. How could she be so affected by the mere sound of his voice?

He stepped out of the car, grabbed her arm, and told her in a firm voice, "I said get in." He put emphasis on the last two words while looking her in the eyes. And just like that, it didn't matter if he slept with someone else or not, if he loved someone else or not, for her panties had grown drenched and her heart had fluttered in her chest.

She sighed and obliged, feigning discomfort, while she was smiling on the inside really. For if he came after her, that meant that although there might – or might not, a part of her argued – be something between him and Vivian, he cared about her.

And that was all she needed to be happy.

Okay. Truth be told, real happiness would be for him to love her the way she loved him, for she did come to loving him despite their twisted albeit highly satisfying relationship. Nevertheless, his coming after her meant that he cared, and that was enough… at least for now.

"What's wrong with you all of a sudden?" He asked without preamble the moment he got into the car.

"Nothing," she muttered.

"Yeah, right," he scoffed, "because not answering my calls means we're good. How could I be so stupid?"

She looked out of the window and sighed. What could she say? She was sure that if she were to lie, he would know because Daniel Davidson was a lot of things, but a fool, he was not.

"You know what? Maybe a good outdoor spanking would do you some good," he told her seriously.

"What?" She cried out. "Come again!"

"Now, you're acting normal," a small smile stretched his lips. "Tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it."

"You did Vivian," she responded bitterly, eyes watering despite her best efforts not to cry.

"Oh, Vivian!" He exclaimed, "I certainly did not do her," he reassured her with a big smile, before adding, "but she does want to do me and doesn't know how to take no for an answer. She's a colleague of mine from the firm I work at."

"And what ever brought her to campus?" She asked, genuinely curious, eyes overflowing with tears, which she didn't bother wiping off.

"She found out that I'm lecturing you guys, so she had to come," he explained simply while driving through the city.

"Why aren't you taking me to the dorm?" Natasha asked on a sigh, "Don't you have a project to finish by the end of the week?"

"Thanks to your ignoring my calls, I had a lot of time on my hands, so I accomplished a lot. It should be done tomorrow," he responded in a light tone, "So now that we're good, why don't we grab dinner?"

"Are you crazy?" She worried her lower lip, although excited by the invitation, "What if someone saw us?"

"How many times shall I tell you that I don't mind losing the job?" He answered in his most blasé tone, "And since you're an adult, they can't do anything to us, and as you're the most brilliant student around, they won't even give you a warning."

"Right," she admitted sheepishly.

"Think a little," he told her seriously, "I know it's a difficult task with me around, but still…"

And with that they burst off laughing.

And all and any doubts Natasha might have had regarding whether Daniel cared or not vanished.
