Dragon 44 — Dragon
It was definitely a hassle not using the powerful mass drivers. The pilots wanted to use it, but dared not to disobey Jason's command. It was also not ideal to wantonly use the mass drivers since it has strong recoil that will affect their balance in the gravity pull sphere if they made a mistake.
In the end, the pilots began using energy beams from their sub-arms rifles and weapon modules.
The Guardian Company forcefully made their path by slaughtering the Gaunas surrounding them. Jason led them ahead, ruthlessly killing the powerful Gaunas while leaving the weaker mobs for the other pilots to take care.
They were soon about to reach the crater located behind the asteroid.
"Take care of this location, Platoon 1. I along with the Platoon 2 will destroy the linked-type Gauna," Jason commanded while silently observing the situation.
Looking at the radar, he saw the Gaunas following after them from behind. He wanted the whole Platoon 1 to hold this point to attract the aggros in order for them to safely eliminate the linked-type Gauna without any troubles.
In the end, the Platoon 1 agreed with the decision, stationing themselves to prepare for the incoming Gaunas.
Their only purpose was to hold them back.
In order to perfect to do that, Jason allowed them to use the mass drivers.
"I'll count on you guys to hold them back," Jason wished them luck before departing with the Platoon 2.
"Platoon 2! Let's go destroy the linked-type Gauna as soon as possible."
The Platoon 2 bid Platoon 2 farewell before following behind Jason.
As they left, they soon heard the powerful sound of the mass drivers being rapidly fired to slaughter the Gaunas.
To ease the burden on the Platoon 1, every pilots from Platoon 2 were determined to swiftly eliminate the linked-type Gauna.
Swooosh!
Swooosh!
Leaving behind a bunch of blue trails, all of them quickly flew over the surface of the asteroid.
The crimson smokes that filled the entirety of the asteroid were growing thicker and denser as they progressed deeper.
The structure of the Guardian Knights were creaking subtlely, Jason saw the pressure coming from the smokes was growing stronger.
The radar and communication system were also getting affected, becoming more static and unsteady.
"Damn, what the heck is with this smokes?"
As Jason and the Platoon 2 flew deeper and deeper, they soon managed to reach the crater behind the asteroid. Oddly enough, they haven't encountered a Gauna.
Flying over the crater, Jason saw the hole was very humangous, stretching so widely. The crater's interior was like the abyss, bottomless and extremely dark. It was also brimly packed with crimson smogs, seemingly a hellish nightmare itself.
With the help of the enhanced sensors, Jason soon gained a well understanding over the crater itself.
"The linked-type Gauna is at the very core of the crater. We'll need to blow it up using the mass drivers."
Rokurome immediately prepared the folded mass driver.
It silently aimed it, locking over the core area of the crater.
While doing so, Jason had already forwarded what he analysed to the others. It was important to share information.
The pilots began to aim their mass drivers over it too. They were determined to end everything here, once and for all.
Jason breathed heavily, his eyes growing clearer with clarity as he uttered calmly.
"Fire."
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
Rokurome and the entire Platoon 2 fired their mass drivers at the same time, the many shells creating a formation that resembled a raining pillar of lights.
The raining pillars rapidly drilled into the superimposed placenta that was composed from the entirety of the linked-type Gauna, the exploding shells destroying it to reach the main core hidden very deeply.
At the command bridge, Yuhata was very tense as she observed the situation.
The fate of Sidonia depended on the outcome of this.
"Placenta Erosion Degree: 30%"
"40%"
"...50%"
"60%...."
"URAHHHHH!"
"HAAAAAAAAH!"
The pilots screamed loudly, their fingers constantly pressing the trigger without resting for a single second.
They even used the enhanced mode of the mass drivers, consuming every units of the accumulated spatial energy.
Jason narrowed his eyes, inherently feeling their barrage of attacks weren't enough. He saw the red smokes moving swiftly to help the linked-type Gauna, further imposing upon its strong defense.
"Warning!"
"The pilots ammunitions will soon run out!"
Yuhata clenched her hands tightly. Her eyes then darted to the side, looking over the situation of the Platoon 1. It wasn't looking good either, the gaunas from all over the asteroid were constantly coming to attack them, causing casualties to appear once again.
"Erosion Degree 95%."
Yuhata clenched her fist further, sweating heavily.
She hoped for them to hold on a little bit longer.
However, reality was harsh and brutal.

The pilots repeatedly pressed the trigger, but was surprised to see nothing coming out from the mass drivers. Soon, the other pilots also stopped attacking, the raining pillars coming into a complete halt.
"I'm out of ammunitions..." A pilot muttered with his face filled with dread and despair.
The others also dropped their shoulders, not knowing on what to do now.
Even they desperately saved their ammunitions earlier, it wasn't still enough.
[ Erosion Degree: 97% ]
Jason clenched his teeth, his fingers repeatedly tapping against the control modules.
He thought of any other ways to bring hope to others.
A way to survive.
His eyes calmly looked around before landing upon the sheathed sword cannon.
An idea bloomed within him.
Jason smiled.
He was about to share his idea and hope to the others, but before that could happen, a much more worse despair fell upon them.
Thump!
Thump!
"....!" Jason's smile froze, his hand clutching violently against his chest.
It was painful.
His heart—It was throbbing so savagely, causing lines to spread across his whole body.
His circuits slowly awakened.
Jason raised his head, looking ahead of him, his eyes staring dead straight into the bottomless crater.
"ROAAARRR!"
A thunderous roar silenced all other existing sounds, resounding so powerfully within the bottomless crater, bringing them the sensation of overwhelming fear.
Retreat...
Jason subconsciously thought of that, but he shook his head decisively.
The crimson smokes started to waver and move, swiftly flowing into the thing within the crater.
Suddenly, thousand of small evil eyes opened from within the dark, bottomless abyss.
A colossal abomination slowly crawled out from the depths of the the abyss, its devilish and disgusting wings unfolding far and wide from behind, revealing more nasty eyes from within it.
"Haaah...." Jason took a deep breath, his gaze fixed upon the abomination before him.
Before his eyes, there was a dragon.
It was an abomination that was so disgustingly humangous with innumerable nasty eyes opening from all across Its body.
