Chapter 49 — Guardian Suit.

Day 159 | Treehouse | 11:00 AM.

Jason slept very deeply and was not able to wake early as usual. His face was foolishly grinning while dreaming comfortably about hugging a lump of soft and fluffy clouds.

He felt wonderful and was free from any exhaustion. Still, Jason wasn't free from the lingering side-effects of Gluttony.

Jason was enjoying his sleep when he suddenly felt someone squirming within his embrace, forcefully awakening him from his deep sleep.

After opening his eyes, he was abruptly greeted with Kobayashi's face being very close to him.

As a result, his annoyance of being awakened melted away.

Jason then gulped, silently wondering why she was sleeping with him. Moreover, he was evidently surprised to see themselves being extremely close.

What exactly is going on here?

He pondered heavily, but just couldn't remember anything. However, he soon smiled while gazing at her sleeping so relaxedly.

Kobayashi looked unusually cute while sleeping like a cat. She didn't look stoic and cold as usual.

Jason decided to just slowly appreciate this rare opportunity. It would be a waste if he didn't. Soon, he felt time slowing down while appreciating the view, completely forgetting about his surroundings.

She was so beautiful, resembling a real life fairy.

In fact, he was confident that she was even more stunningly beautiful than the famous idols from Earth.

As Jason's gaze wandered around in sincere appreciation, his eyes soon fell over her cherry-like lips, now completely unmoving.

He then gulped down a mouthful of saliva while sweating slightly.

Kobayashi was really a seducing demon!

She forced Jason to even have a thought of feeling and tasting her thin, tender lips.

Those thoughts even made him realize again that they were currently hugging each other very tightly. Furthermore, she was still wearing her nurse outfit that exposed a lot of skin and curves. It allowed his sensitive senses to clearly feel her delicate fair skins, tender thighs, and ample chest.

These various temptations were really testing Jason's patience.

Jason licked his lips as his gaze toward her lips became more intense, his face slowly inching closer.

However, he soon stopped before withdrawing.

Mnnm, it wasn't really proper to kiss a sleeping lady.

Jason thought it more rightful and manly when he did it at a proper time.

As he thought that, he suddenly noticed her eyes quivering before opening drowsily.

Kobayashi stared at him deeply. He also returned with the same gaze.

"Good morning."

Kobayashi nodded at those words without a change of expression. She quickly sat up from the bed.

"It wasn't my intention to sleep with you, but I couldn't escape from your grasp when you were asleep."

Kobayashi explained straightly, trying to hide the storm within her heart. She wanted to leave quickly as she didn't want to continue feeling like this.

She disliked it.

"No, I should be the one to apologize since it's my fault," Jason shook his head, smiling wryly for himself acting different when asleep.

Kobayashi nodded.

"I'm the one who started it. You can just understand it as me helping and taking care of you as a nurse. I'll now excuse myself for the funeral that's gonna happen later."

Kobayashi explained stoically before leaving the bedroom.

"I see, take care then," Jason said as she left.

Jason then sighed deeply as he thought about the funeral later.

He needs to attend it too. He didn't want to miss it just because he was still feeling some side-effects.

Grave Of Heroes | 1:00 PM.

The graveyard was expansive and humongous. It wasn't also built with a roof over it, allowing the blue sky and radiant sun to be clearly seen.

It was covered with neatly trimmed grasses and beautiful flowers. Several graves and monuments were arranged everywhere carefully.

This was the Grave Of Heroes, the graveyard where countless dead heroes of Sidonia were sung with respect.

On a newly erected monument, many people were gathered orderly. They all wore black suits and were holding white flowers.

Everyone of them were silent while wearing sorrowful expressions for their dead comrades.

They remembered joking with them just a few days ago, but to think they would suddenly die the next moment..

It left them to feel empty within their heart.

But they also knew that there was a chance of them joining their dead comrades soon.

Kobayashi stood alone before them, her small yet large back turned against them as she silently looked at the monument with many names written on it.

She soon faced all of them, giving a solemn speech of gratitude and farewell.

After finishing the speech, Kobayashi gave honour to the dead by placing her flower onto their monument.

She was then shortly followed by the pilots one after another.

And soon, they began to leave the graveyard.

The funeral had already ended.

But never forget.

The death of each and every comrades would not be in vain. It would further resolve them to work extremely hard and not grow complacent.

They couldn't just rely on one person, only their own skills can protect their lives.

Jason stayed behind instead of leaving with them. He just silently stood there, silently looking at the names carved on the monument.

Day 180.

Things have been very peaceful within Sidonia without any recent activities coming from Ocarina. The only worrying news for the residents was about Sidonia recently losing contact with the Lem System Colonist that previously had been eating up lots of resources.

As there was currently no danger, it allowed the pilots to have time to rest and also prepare themselves for the next battle.

And as the current period was full of chaos and battles against the Gaunas, numerous technological advancements have also been successful.

War really makes civilization progress faster.

Yure's Lab | 12:34 PM.

"This new pilot suit is really great…" Jason was amazed while examining the new black and crimson pilot suit he was currently wearing.

In terms of appearance, the new suit looked more appealing and slicker than the old pilot suit.

In terms of usability, the new suit felt much more comfortable and secure to move around than the old suit.

And in terms of functionality…

"This pilot suit was made by utilizing advanced nanotechnology. We've also improved the overall features and added new useful ones," Yure smiled as she explained.

She then handed Jason a smart tablet that contained the detailed information about the new pilot suit.

Jason gladly took the tablet, and started reading what it contained.

Guardian Suit.

That was the name of the improvised pilot suit.

The suit was a form-fitting pilot suit that was made out of nanobots. It can automatically wrap and fit the pilot's body when worn.

It was easy to use and can automatically fit any type of body structure perfectly for conveniences.

The Guardian Suit was designed to also act like a power armor as it was capable of enhancing the pilot's various physical attributes. It can protect and help the pilot from dangerous risks and rigor piloting of Guardian Knight.

The entire suit is made out of reactive material and nanobots that instantly hardens upon detecting a sudden shock or blow. A strong neck brace also protects pilots from suffering severe neck injuries during intense maneuvering.

And despite the suit's apparent material thinnes, the nanobots and other materials that built the suit can insulate the pilot from extreme temperatures and external conditions. It also contains electronic to regulate and record the pilot's health and vital signs.

It was also equipped with the latest in-combat avionics and pilot systems. It can remotely connect to any communication systems within 500 meters radius, and was also able to constantly record and compares the pilot's performance and reactions with older data to allow for easy analysis of combat records, allowing for efficient improvement on the pilot's part.

Not only can it hold advanced electronic systems, but it can also monitor and handle vital human functions well. For example, it can inject drugs and stimulants directly into the wearer's body. It also have an emergency, on-board filtration system that can purify the pilot's urine into drinkable water. Even the the proper and comfortable storage of feces was possible up to a certain grams.

The helmet part was created to have a large spherical visor which provides the pilot with a largely unobstructed view while at the same time provides physical protection against head trauma and collisions. This helmet gave much more field of vision and protection compared to the old helmet. In addition, the helmet contains an advanced air filter system. It can provide breathable air for pilots even in the most hazardous area.
