Chapter 68 — Orbit Achieved!
"Jason is really amazing! He always manages to surprise us!"
"Yup, he earns my respect! But that new system is simply too impressive. In my own view, En seemed to become a degraded version of Jason."
"Calling it degraded is too harsh! Can't you think of any nicer words to say?"
"Huh, it's the truth. I could clearly see the disparity between them even though she received his ability."
"..."
"Anyways, it's unfortunate that we couldn't have similar wavelengths with Jason. It would've been amazing if we could've assimilated with his ability."
"I second that."
"Yeah, imagine hundreds of Jason fighting against the Gaunas."
"Nahh, that's a tad too freaky! Not a cool idea to imagine!"
"You guys don't need to worry. Although we can't use the Cross Link System with Jason, I'm sure there's a chance that other minority might have compatibility with each other. Just the transformation is powerful enough on its own."
"I agree! Other than that, we'll also eventually get implanted with the Guardian-Pilot System. That alone will provide us with an exceptional increase in performance."
After the recon mission ended, the pilots started busily chatting. They freely expressed their thoughts among themselves.
All of them brimmed with firm hope with the growth of Sidonia.
…
Rokurome and Fortuna managed to soon arrive back at Sidonia.
"You must go to the special decontamination tank to get rid of harmful toxic gases from Planet Lem-IX. Please proceed through Gate Two!" A worker instructed them.
Jason and En didn't complain. They just silently followed the worker's instructions.
After entering Gate Two, Rokurome and Fortuna entered inside a large tank filled with special liquid.
Their cockpits soon opened, causing the liquids to flood the inside of it.
Exiting the cockpits, Jason and En floated inside the tank. They both had superhuman physiques, so there was nothing to worry about needing air underwater.
"You did a good job today, En. I hope to work with you next time."
Jason had already left the liquid tank along with En. His helmet was removed with his suit still dripping with liquid.
"I feel the same!" happily said En while shaking Jason's hand.
Her cheeks were a little flushed while gazing into his face.
En remembered about her first meeting with Jason. At that sudden flashback, she suddenly wanted to bury herself and smack her past self for being too violent.
It wasn't a good first impression.
Jason smiled.
"Are you feeling hungry? Let's go eat at a fancy restaurant, I'll treat you for our successful mission."
En appeared startled, but she hurriedly nodded her head.
"Yes! I'll eat with you!"
The two of them soon went to eat at a fancy restaurant.
…
Secret Research Facility.
In a spacious dark room, a large tank could be seen. It was filled to the brim with sticky water.
Inside the tank, there was a large humanoid-shaped placenta body that looked horrendous and ugly with several varying holes. It appeared mostly scattered messily.
Ochiai's First Chimera.
Besides it, there were also several familiar Kabi Spears floating around.
"Is it already time for that?" Kobayashi asked.
Wearing her twin-tailed mask, Yure nodded in agreement.
"It's already time to throw it away to lessen the risk. But it is better to make final good use of it rather than simply destroying it."
"Is your research on it finally finished?" Inquired Kobayashi curiously.
"Yes, I believe to have finished it."
Kobayashi nodded with a calm expression.
The incomplete technology behind Gravitational Beam Emitter was now in their hands.
"Do you understand the danger behind releasing it into space?"
Yure knew Kobayashi was referring to the calamity that happened in the past.
"There's nothing to worry about. Sidonia is now very powerful," Yure smiled, "And he's here with us now, right?"
Kobayashi narrowed her eyes. She naturally knew that Yure was talking about Jason.
"Don't become complacent. We can't entirely rely just on him," Kobayashi warmed Yure.
It was simply impossible for just one man to protect Sidonia.
"I understand." Yure nodded with a smile.
"Then prepare to throw away the Chimera and Kabi at the right time to draw the attention of the Large Mass Union Ship. I give you my permission."
Kobayashi soon left the hidden facility.
The Gravitational Beam Emitter…
It was a very powerful weapon to help Sidonia.
…
Jason slowly opened his eyes after feeling the entire ship shaking heavily. As he listened to the announcement, several particle threads stuck into his surroundings to steady himself.
After the recon mission was completed, Sidonia started to analyse the information they gathered from the unobservable sector of Planet Lem-IX.
Since there were no hidden threats found in the sector, Sidonia went full thrusters to quickly station itself along Planet Lem-IX.
And now they have finally reached it.
Jason felt curious to see their next mission.
…
"Transfer complete! Orbit above Lem-IX achieved!"
Yuhata then asked a question.
"The Large Mass Union Ship status, any updates from it?"
"None, no changes."
Yuhata nodded while feeling Inwardly relieved.
This was actually the perfect time to attack them, but it fortunately didn't happen.
It seemed the Gaunas we're not that stupid to attack immediately after the showcase of Cross Link System.
"Continue with the observations, stay alert!" Yuhata ordered sternly before turning to Kobayashi, "What should we do next, Captain?"
"Do a large-scale resource gathering again!"
"Roger!"
Yuhata soon issued the resource gathering order to the pilots.
"A mining mission?" Jason quietly mumbled as he looked at his watch.
He then decided to participate to gather resources from Planet Lem-IX. Other pilots also decided to participate since it was the only thing they could currently do.
Although Planet Lem-IX had strong gravitational force, the Guardian Knights were already built to handle this kind of situation. The pilots were also trained in Virtual Simulation to cope with gravity terrain.
The mining mission lasted for several days.
As such, the outside appearance of Sidonia now appeared stuffy from the numerous resources gathered by the pilots.
But due to the rapid growth of Sidonia, Jason was sure it would rapidly become less sooner or later.
...
I think I'll write on Saturday and Sunday.
