Fiancée?!

"WHAT?!!!" Tanya almost screamed in disbelief

"Tanya, too loud," I whispered, looking around and assuring the staring chefs that it was nothing.

"You're kidding? That bastard actually dared to show his face after all these years?" Tanya hissed in utter fury.

"Well, it was more like a coincidence that we met," I said while remembering our first meeting in this very kitchen.

Tanya grabbed my arm while I was arranging the breakfast buffet, and said with narrowed eyes, "You are not thinking of letting him in your life again, are you?"

I didn't immediately answer. I believe Robbie showed genuine remorse for his past deed, however, he had exhibited no real change in his attitude aside from our recent meeting. Hence, I was not sure what course of action to take next.

"You are!! !" Tanya gasped, covering her mouth with her hand.

"I haven't decided." I responded truthfully, "I am still contemplating what to do but if he really is trying his best, maybe..."

I trailed off. It had been more than a week since Robbie visited my place. I was so worried that he would start to frequent my place that I would almost check outside my door every night. It would be impossible for me to explain why the CEO of our hotel spent every other day in an employee's apartment. There was also the worry about Twen, on top of that. Any suspicion could easily spark a rumor. Rumors can cause serious misunderstandings! Turns out I worried for nothing. Robbie has not taken any such impulsive action.

"Would you really forgive him?" Tanya sounded quite disappointed.

I flicked on her forehead with a chuckle, "Not so easily. After all, I have gone through eight years of suffering, he should at least get eight months of punishment."

Tanya gave a silly grin, rubbing her forehead before I asked her to hurry back to her bakery kitchen. The winter was just a few weeks away. Winter was the most popular season for tourist inflow or else called peak season in Warham. As a city known for its beaches, its weather was hot and humid. The summer months saw the least number of tourists, with temperatures almost reaching 35 degrees celsius. In winters, the temperature dips to 15-18 degrees, and the weather becomes very pleasant attracting several tourists. The highest crowd is during Christmas and New year, which the entire city celebrated. Obviously, hotels and resorts would also decorate their premises and give customers a variety of events as a way to attract them.

Since Resort Elegance was newly opened, its manpower was very low. Thus, the heavy duty of handling the guests by incurring the least amount of mistake was near about impossible. Basking on the popularity of the Exquisite Brand, the tourists flow is already more than any average newly launched brand. There were several events and offers given out to guests for increasing the flow. In light of the approaching winter and the lack of manpower, the CEO decided to transfer some employees internally to rectify the situation.

I was so busy all these days that I was not even able to take a single day off. The decision for the internal transfers came as a huge relief as there were hardly any chefs to handle two restaurants, one coffee shop, and the In-room dining. I and Shah were the only two sous chefs here and Boris was the Executive Chef in the Resort. Our workload had been very high, and we were almost incapable of handling everything without any mistakes. Thankfully, this week we got two new sous chefs and an executive sous chef along with few more transferred chefs. In spite of the immense workload, things improved. I am glad that some measures had been taken because otherwise, I was not sure whether I could take any time off. I didn't want to break the promise I made to Twen about attending his sports day. I went to Boris after my work was over to inform him about the off. He didn't object. In fact, he said, I should take two days off and take proper rest. He also said that with December right around the corner, the workload is likely to increase, so it's best to rest as much as possible.

I was glad that I don't have to upset Twen. I quickly wrapped up my shift and went to the parking lot. I should rest well today so that I could enjoy the day off with Twen tomorrow. As I walked down the stairs to reach the parking lot, I saw a black sedan entering the area. This was not the resort's car. Was it a guest's car? The car was too luxurious to belong to the staff. Maybe some business partner or a special guest! I shrugged off the thought. It was none of my business anyway and made my way to my Toyota. Once I got in the car, I banged it shut, which was accompanied by the sound of car doors opening. The driver of the black sedan walked out and opened the door of the back seat. I saw a smooth pale leg in stilettos, followed by a gorgeous woman in an A-line maroon dress come out of the car.

Even from a side profile, I could see that she was very attractive, and with those shiny curly dark locks, she reminded me of a Vogue cover model. Although I am attracted to men, that does not mean I do not appreciate beauty, especially someone who stands out this much. I realized my mouth was open. I closed it feeling a little shameful. The girl didn't made her way to the guest elevator and instead leaned against her car and started scrolling through her cell phone. I wondered if she was waiting for someone. From her demeanor and her smell, I could tell that she was an Alpha. Though she won't be affected by my smell, she most definitely could tell that am an Omega. Before I get exposed, I started my car and took a turn towards the exit but was blocked by an Audi. This was most definitely not a resort car and I immediately reversed to let the car enter and waited till it parked. In an industry like Hotels and Resorts, making a negative impression on guests or customers is equivalent to losing business. The customer always comes first.

I started my car again. I heard the sound of car doors opening which was followed by a female voice calling a very familiar name. Robbie! Instinctively, I looked through my rearview mirror. I saw that model-like girl walked up to Robbie with a cheeky smile. Robbie, on the other hand, looked at her with an irritated glare. He didn't seem to spare her an ear and started towards the VIP elevator. The girl caught hold of him, by putting her arm around his. Robbie pulled his hand off and I heard him rage,

"Sarah, I think I made myself very clear. Stop being so pushy"

"Pushy? Is it a crime now to want to spend some quality time with my fiance?" she said looking at him with mock anger.

The word 'fiancé' cut through my heart like a knife. Robbie was engaged? Then all that nonsense about loving me and stuff was nothing more than smoking mirrors. In some corner of my heart, I considered giving him the benefit of doubt!! I thought, maybe he really wanted to change. In spite of myself, I began to believe that he truly wanted to mend our relationship again. I look like such a fool now. He didn't want anything of that sort. While on the one hand, he apologized for hurting me in the past, and on the other hand, he was planning his wedding. Then, why did he bothered returning to my life?

I stepped on the accelerator with all my might, and my car pushed forward with a powerful GRRRR. Through my rearview mirror, I saw Robbie's face turning pale. I saw him hurry towards my car with a loud cry of "TONY" but I drove in full speed to get the hell out of there. I am so dumb. After just a few sweet words from him, I considered giving him another chance and forgive him for all these years of pain. How many times do I need to feel this pain before I face the truth? Omegas are not needed in Alpha's life. That was the reality! I should have imprinted it in my soul. But NO! I have to end up hoping. Having your hopes crushed was like waking up from a beautiful dream to realize it was all just in your head. I saw the road ahead of me, as my sight started blurring from the moisture gathering in my eyes.
