The Little Nephew's Growth Record (1)

Su XieYa had died but unexpectedly death wasn't the result waiting for him at the end of the road.

When he came to it, he was already in a different environment from where he last remembered to be. He was in a car seat driving and from looking out the window, he knew that it was some times at night.

[Su XieYa, nice to meet you. I am the 'Care for it!' system that you have bonded with. Please call me Gold.]

By his shoulder was a money cat charm, as it floated in midair, its two slanted cat eyes shot out two beams of light that formed a holographic screen in front of him like a movie projector.

Su XieYa wasn't clear on the situation but he wasn't alarmed by the presence of the 'talking' money cat charm. Being born into the family that he was born into meant that his three views were a little different from normal people's.

[Since host has died, returning to your original world isn't viable. The system provides host with two choices:

1) Do missions and receive additional rewards as compensation.

2) Refuse the missions and normally enter the cycle of reincarnation.]

Su XieYa didn't think too long about it and directly chose option 1. Even the money cat was a little surprised by how quick he chose.

Su XieYa asked, "What is the additional reward for completing the missions?"

[After completing all the missions, host will be able to choose their reincarnation and live life the way they want. This is the compensation given by the system.]

Su XieYa hummed and said, "Since all path eventually leads to Rome, why not take the longer path and enjoy the scenery as well? Let's start ba, Gold."

Gold was a little touched by how easy his job was going. It silent gave a thumbs up to Su XieYa in its mind.

In actuality, it wasn't that hard for Su XieYa to accept his situation. Transmigration was a common concept, novels about transmigrated person A or Person B are a dime a dozen in the modern era. He himself also had a laid back personality that was borderline lazy, let's say that even if an even more unacceptable situation happened, he would still be able to accept it calmly.

Not to mention his family was weird.

[Giving world information, host please accept.]

A string of words appeared on the holographic system screen. Even though the words were scrolling by extremely fast, Su XieYa had no trouble keeping up, his eyes flitting back and forth as he read the information.

Lin Jianyu was the protagonist of this world. He was born into a family that was modestly wealthy and had two affectionate parents that got along well with each other.

Lin Jianyu had a relatively easy and peaceful childhood, there were no major tremors in his life until he started entering elementary. From there on, his protagonist halo begins to shine.

Despite being only seven, the aura of an authentic protagonist was already starting to show through. Compared to his peers, he was better looking, smarter and generally outstanding in all areas.

His teachers noticed his excellence and suggested the idea of skipping grades to Lin Jianyu's parents. Mother and Father Lin both agreed so Lin Jianyu took the advancement test and directly skipped to middle school.

Lin Jianyu only stayed at the middle school that he transferred to for about a year before finding it too easy. He took the advancement test again and got into a top private school on a full scholarship.

Lin Jianyu stayed at this private high school for another two years when he decided to take a third advancement test and enter college.

Lin Jianyu had just turned 13 when he graduated from college. After graduating, he decided to become a surgeon and threw himself into his studies. At age 23, he became the youngest neurosurgeon in the world.

At age 25 his career began to boom and his reputation resounded in the medical field.

After his career took off, he met a young lady through his parent's introduction. They got along well and soon after they became engaged.

Age 27, he married the young lady. They had a private wedding and invited families and close relatives to celebrate.

Age 30, his wife became pregnant with their first child. Not long after, he gained a daughter.

Age 35, he opened up how own hospital. It was very well received.

Age 52, his daughter was grown up and was doing well with her with own life. He transferred a large sum of money to his parents and then took his wife abroad to travel the world.

Age 63, his father died in his sleep at the age of 87.

Age 64, his mother followed his father and went peacefully.

After his parents died, Lin Jianyu stopped traveling and returned to Country C to plan their funeral. He bought a villa and lived out the rest of his life there with his wife. At the age of 91, his life came to an end. Although it was selfish, he was very glad that he was going ahead of his wife. He left the world quietly with a small smile on his face.

[End of world information.]

After he finished reading this, Su XieYa slightly tilted his head, "What does this have to do with me?"

[Host, please accept the plot of the world's current trajectory.]

Once again, words begin to form on the system screen. This time, a different story was being displayed.

At the young age of three, Lin Jianyu lost his parents to a car accident. Lin Jianyu had been left at home with a nanny that day so he had not been with them. He narrowly escaped death.

After Father and Mother Lin died, the only relative that he had left was an uncle from his father's side. At first, the uncle hadn't been willing to take in his brother's orphaned kid but after learning that he could inherit the amount of wealth that his brother and sister in law had left behind if he took in their kid, he immediately changed his mind and agreed to raise Lin Jianyu until he legally becomes an adult.

Afterward, Uncle Lin took home the three years old Lin Jianyu. When Lin Jianyu went home with this uncle that he had never met before, his small mind was filled with complicated feelings. He understood that his mom and dad died because the policemen had told him and he also understood that this man was his uncle and that he was going to live with him from now on. The facts he listened and remembered but he needed time to process it all. The first few days that Lin Jianyu was at Uncle Lin's house, he was very quiet and didn't like to talk. At first, Uncle Lin tried to coax him but after a while, he lost patience and just pretended that Lin Jianyu didn't exist.

Uncle Lin was someone that liked drinking and gambling. He could still keep his bad habits under control before but after getting his hands on the large sum of inheritance money, he became more and more unrestrained. He more he gambled the more money he lost and as a result, he also started to drink more. He would often come home late at night while reeking of alcohol.

Lin Jianyu would hide in his room when his Uncle comes home like this. On normal days, his Uncle would just treat him like air but when he's drunk, he would start getting violent, cursing incoherently and throwing things around. Once he made the mistake of not hiding fast enough and accidentally got hit by an ashtray. His head had bled a lot and Uncle Lin had to take him to the hospital for stitches. Afterward, Uncle Lin apologized.

When Lin Jianyu was old enough to go to school, due to his reclusive and gloomy personality, he was often excluded by his peers. There were some girls that had been intrigued by his good looks but after seeing how indifferent he was towards them, they soon lost interest. Lin Jianyu's teacher was worried upon seeing that Lin Jianyu wasn't getting along with his peers but whenever a teacher asked Lin Jianyu a question, Lin Jianyu would never answer them. He would only hang his head low and pretend he didn't hear them while continuing to do his worksheets. This caused Lin Jianyu's teacher to worry that he was a little slow.

This time around, Lin Jianyu didn't skip grades, his test scores were actually considered pretty average in his class. He always kept a very low profile and never spoke more than a sentence when necessary. He very unremarkably entered high school like this.

One day when he came back to the apartment after class ended, he found Uncle Lin on the living room sofa with a woman that he had never met before. The woman had very pale skin and curled chestnut hair. The collar of her dress was slightly disheveled and she was leaning very close against his Uncle.

His Uncle told him that this woman was his new aunt and starting from today she'll be living with them. There was no change in Lin Jianyu's expression, he gave a short greeting and went inside his room.

The woman, his new aunt, moved her things into the apartment the day after. His Uncle and this woman acted out the roles of loving new weds and the atmosphere in the apartment for a period of time was very harmonious.

Lin Jianyu could see that the woman didn't actually love his Uncle, every time they went out on a date the woman would always sweet talk his Uncle into buying her a new purse from the so and so foreign brand store or shoes and pieces of jewelry that definitely costed numbers in the four figures. However, if he could see this then he believes that his Uncle could too. If the person himself didn't mind then so be it. It's just that whenever that woman tries to act 'motherly' towards him, it made him feel sick. He really didn't know what his uncle sees in this woman, it better to stay away from these types of people.

After his new aunt moved into the apartment, Lin Jianyu tries to minimize the amount of time that he spent at home. He would often stay at the school library until closing time every single day before heading home. After a few days, he realized that other than him there was another person that also stayed until the library's closing time every single day. It was a girl that seems to be in the same grade as him. The girl was on the taller side with a lively appearance and a bright personality. Not only would she always stay late at the library, but they also seem to live in the same direction. Their paths would often cross. Slowly and gradually, Lin Jianyu began to have an impression of this girl.

As Lin Jianyu's impression of the girl got deeper, they also begin to have more interactions with each other. He learned that the girl's name was Zou Jiao and sometimes they would discuss homework questions that the teacher had assigned that day or talk about upcoming school events. Lin Jianyu felt that the time spent with this girl was very comfortable, she didn't have to do anything special to make him feel a sense of happiness. Lin Jianyu felt like his life had always missed a sunny presence like the girl so, in the end, he worked up the courage to ask her out.

When the Zou Jiao heard his confession, she was so excited that she had leaped up and hugged him, refusing to let go even after her arms went sore. She also started to blab about how happy she was and how much she liked him. Lin Jianyu smiled and felt that this kind of her that was a little silly was also cute.

Soon after Lin Jianyu entered into a relationship, things between his Uncle and Aunt began to head downhill. They were having an argument in the living room, his Aunt was screaming, "You---! When I married you, who was the one that said that he has money, that he'll give me everything I want and never let me suffer even the slightest bit of grievance? Was it not you? Don't even have enough money to buy and measly bag, what a useless man!"

His Uncle also wasn't holding in his temper, "You f*cking bitch, you only know how to spend money and seduce people! Don't you know how hard it is to make money in today's society, why can't you be more considerate like other people's wife! Look, other people's wife can cook and clean, they are virtuous and subservient towards their husbands. Unlike you! Only know how to yap yap yap like a dog all day about money!"

His aunt exploded, "I must have been blind to marry you back then! You want to compare yeah? Then let's f*cking compare! As a married couple, why can't I mention money? Hah, because you're incapable and poor as dirt? Other people's husband buys their wives luxury products all the time. I don't ask you to buy be a car or an expensive house, you should be grateful! Pei, what a lie this marriage is, good thing I rubbed my eyes clean before it's too late!"

The two argued back and forth none stop. Lin Jianyu expressionlessly headed back to his room turned on some music.

Meanwhile in the living room, as the argument between the two got more and more heated, in a moment of anger, Uncle Lin reached out and slapped his wife hard. Aunt Lin fell onto the floor with a thud and started to wail. Uncle Lin didn't spare her a second glance and stormed out of the house.

Uncle Lin didn't return from the early next morning. It was Saturday and Lin Jianyu had had plans for a date with Zou Jiao. Lin Jinyu was just about to head out the door and text Zou Jiao asking where she was when suddenly, Uncle Lin came stumbling into the house. His face was pale and sweaty and there was drops of red on his face. The red liquid covered his hands even more thickly.

When Uncle Lin saw Lin Jianyu, he ran up to him and shook his shoulder. He started to talk frantically about something.

"I-I didn't mean too. I had too much to drink, I really didn't mean too..."

Uncle Lin shook his shoulders even harder, he begin to speak even faster as if he was eager to explain himself. His words grew messy.

"I didn't mean too, Xiao Lin you have to believe Uncle, help Uncle find a way..."

Lin Jianyu couldn't understand what his Uncle was saying. He looked at the red liquid that covered Uncle Lin and furrowed his brows.

"Calm down then talk Uncle." Lin Jianyu went to the kitchen to pour some water for his Uncle.

Uncle Lin sank down onto the couch and covered his face with his hands.

"I-I had too much to drink last night and I was also too angry after that argument with your aunt. I was just so stressed, I was wanted to vent some... there was this girl. I can't remember to clearly, everything just happened in the spur the moment! When I came to it, I was on top of the girl, her clothes were off, I'm not sure what I did to her but she was already dead when I came to it..."

The hand that was pouring water abruptly stopped. Lin Jianyu slowly asked, "A girl?"

"Yeah, I have her ID here! I took it off of her before I ruined her face so they would have a harder time identifying the body if they find it." Uncle Lin fumbled with his pocket and took out a card.

"Her name's Zou Jiao."

Lin Jianyu's mind went blank. His heart stilled as the world around him seems to have become silent.

Uncle Lin was still talking, "I hid her body in the trash can for now. Xiao Lin ah, you must help Uncle ah. Later we can..."

Lin Jianyu was no longer listening. His hands shaking, he puts down the glass of water and picked up his phone. He dialed Zou Jiao's number and waited.

"The number that you're dialing is not available. Please try again later."

"The number that you're dialing is not available. Please try again later."

"The number that---"

She's not picking up.

Lin Jianyu dropped his phone, his eyes were empty.

"Why is there so much noise in the morning? Are you crazy?" Aunt Lin had just woken up and walked out of her room in a robe. When she saw that her husband was back, she sneered "Aiyo, you still know to come back---"

Her sentence stopped halfway when she took in his appearance. "Why do you look like this, what happened? Is that blood, oh my god did you kill someone?!"

Uncle Lin jumped up fro the couch and tried to explain, "Dear, calm down. Listen to me..."

He tried to approach her but that just caused Aunt Lin to shrink back even further. The slap from yesterday was still fresh in her mind.

"Don't come near me! I-I'm calling the police!"

She took out her phone and begin to dial a number. Uncle Lin panicked and grabbed a vase. He swung it at Aunt Lin, the vase shattering with a sickening crack as it slammed across Aunt Lin's head.

Thud.

Aunt Lin and the phone in her hand fell to the floor.

"Huff...huff..."

Uncle Lin threw away the remaining pieces of the vase in his hand. He grabbed a fistful of his hair and muttered, "It's not me, it's not me, it's you that forced me..."

"Uncle, what are you doing?"

Lin Jianyu stood by the doorway, in his left hand was a glass of water and his right hand was kept behind his back.

"Xiao Lin, Xiao Lin, you have to help me..."

"En." Lin Jianyu walked towards Uncle Lin, his eyes were tranquil. "Uncle Lin, why don't you have some water and calm down?"

Uncle Lin was momentarily stunned, "T-thank you."

After pausing for a moment, he said again, "It seems that my nephew is still the best. Blood runs thicker than water after all." He sighed, "Xiao Lin ah, Uncle knows that he hadn't been good to you before. But after this, Uncle promise that he will change alright? Family is the most important in the end."

Lin Jianyu replied, "Ok."

Uncle Lin breathed out in relief. He reached out for the glass of water.

Schunck.

Lin Jianyu thrust his right hand forward and a knife was buried in Uncle Lin's abdomen.

Uncle Lin lifted up his head in disbelief. A groan of pain slipped through his lips and his mouth moved as he tried to form words. Lin Jianyu pulled out the knife, fresh blood coating the metal. Uncle Lin slumped onto the floor.

Lin Jianyu bent down and took the ID card from Uncle Lin's pocket. His fingers brushed over the card's surface, over the printed name and the sunny profile of a girl.

He took out his phone again.

"Brr...brrr."

Lin Jianyu hummed as he put on his jacket and headed out. He first went to a store and bought a few gallons of gasoline. Carrying his purchase, he then walked through the street until he found an alley with a few blood marks on the ground. He stopped and opened up the trash bin. He opened up the black trash bags one by one until he found the one that he was looking for. Lifting it up gently and carrying it in his arms, he headed back to the apartment.

"Brr...brrr"

The phone in his pocket was still trying to call through. However, the person on the other side will never pick up.

Lin Jianyu took the stairs up to his apartment. He unscrewed the cap of the gasoline and poured it in a continuous line, from the building entrance to the stairs, blocking off all escape.

Back in the apartment, Lin Jianyu raised Zou Jiao out of the trash bags and placed her onto the bed. Her face had already been smashed to a bloody pulp and her limbs have already begin to stiffen.

Lin Jianyu brushed a strand of hair out of her face and fixed her posture to make it look like she was simply just sleeping on the bed.

Lin Jianyu had poured gasoline all over the apartment floor, connecting it to the oil that he had splashed throughout the building. Expressionlessly, he got a lighter from the coffee table and lit it. He threw it onto the ground.

The minute the lighter and the gasoline on the floor made contact, flames came alive and rose high like a wall. It continues to grow until it had spread outside of the apartment.

Lin Jianyu climbed onto the bed and laid down next to Zou Jiao. He hugged her waist and closed his eyes.

The fire that had grown wild around him roared and threatened to devour everything. Lin Jianyu welcomed it. This kind of world, it was better to leave it.

[End of current world information]

Su XieYa who had finished reading this dramatic play looked at the money cat system. He arched a brow in silence.

[Due to a problem that had occurred with the mainframe, the world's original trajectory became what you have read just now. Host's job is to shift the protagonist back on a track that aligns with the world's original trajectory.]

The system screen then switched to a new page with progress bar that was currently at 0. Besides the progress bar was a square profile. The profile was the picture of a child about 5-6 years old. The child was wearing a yellow hat and a jean overall and he held a green watering can as he poured water over a potted sunflower plant. The child seems to have noticed the 'camera' and looked directly into it with a smile. This was a photo of Lin Jianyu from the world's original trajectory.

Su XieYa thought over the two plots. The "x factor" that caused the entire plot to go awry was the death of Lin Jianyu's parent. His parent's love and support was what nurtured him into a motivated and compassionate human being. In the original plot Lin Jianyu had became a surgeon that saved many lives while in the second plot, he had took the entire building's inhabitants with him to the graves.

Originally Zou Jiao's existence was a good thing but in the end it was because of her that Lin Jianyu's mentality finally snapped.
