Future Troubles

Before leaving his family's quarters, Xuan stopped, remembering one final gift he had prepared. He turned back to his parents, pulling out two unassuming pendants from his robe. Though they appeared simple, they held powerful space laws, making them invaluable in moments of danger.

Xuan held out the pendants and said :"Mother, Father, these are for you both. They're not ordinary pendants. In a life-threatening situation, you can crush them to teleport to a safe place."

Xue Lan and Xuan Tianyi looked at the pendants, surprise and curiosity evident in their eyes.

Xue Lan: "Teleport to the safe place? Xuan, that's… an incredible gift."

Xuan nodding said :"It's a safe place that only I know well. You won't be reachable there by anyone who might mean harm. But to activate them, you'll need to place a drop of your blood on them now. This will link them to you."

Xuan handed one pendant to his mother and the other to his father. They looked at each other, then at him, feeling the weight of this gift.

Xuan Tianyi with a serious expression asked him: "Xuan, this is more than a gift—it's a lifeline. Are you sure you want to entrust this to us?"

Xuan:"Yes, Father. I want to know that you're safe. If anything ever threatens you both, this pendant will give you a way out."

Xue Lan softly said : "Thank you, Xuan. This means so much. We'll carry them with us at all times."

Both his parents pricked their fingers and let a drop of blood fall onto their pendants. The pendants glowed briefly, the light indicating that they were now bound to them.

Xuan:"Keep them with you at all times, no matter what. And if you ever need to use them, remember to crush them."

Xue Lan placed a hand over her pendant, smiling softly: "We'll keep them safe, Xuan. Thank you for thinking of us."

Xuan Tianyi clasping Xuan's shoulder firmly and said :"Your care means more than words can say. With these, we'll be prepared for whatever may come."

With the pendants safely entrusted to his parents, Xuan felt a renewed sense of relief.

As Xuan handed the pendants to his parents, Xue Lan and Xuan Tianyi, he noticed a flicker of suspicion across their faces. The pendants were powerful, far beyond ordinary treasures, and he could see that they both wondered why he would give such rare items away so readily.

Xuan Tianyi looking intently at Xuan and said : "Xuan, these aren't ordinary pendants. I can sense the power in them. Why would you give something so valuable to us, especially now?"

Xue Lan softly, concern in her voice and said :"Xuan, is there something you're not telling us? Why do we need something this strong? Are you in trouble?"

Xuan took a deep breath, realizing that his parents' instincts to protect him had made them cautious. He quickly reassured them, hoping to put their minds at ease.

Xuan smiling reassuringly said : "No, there's nothing to worry about. I'm not in trouble. These are just precautions. I've recently learned some things , and I'm trying to be more prepared. If anything unexpected happens, I want you both have a way to stay safe."

Xuan Tianyi narrowing his eyes :"Even so, Xuan, it's unusual to give us such rare items. You wouldn't do this unless there was a real reason. We know you, son. There's more to this, isn't there?"

Xuan hesitating briefly said :"It's true, Father, that I've grown cautious. I've realized that with my journey to the central region, I may be away for a while. Knowing that you both have a way to protect yourselves eases my mind. Nothing has happened, and I don't expect it to. But in the world of cultivation, things change quickly."

His mother studied him carefully, still sensing that there was more to his intentions.

Xue Lan: "Xuan, I trust your intentions, but be honest with us. Is there something you're preparing for? Someone who might bring trouble to the sect?"

Xuan sighing and choosing his words carefully said :"I can't predict everything that might come. But yes, there are powerful forces in the central region, and alliances change. This is simply a precaution, one that I want you to have. Please, trust me on this."

After a moment of silence, Xue Lan and Xuan Tianyi exchanged a look, both understanding that Xuan was preparing for unknown dangers. They each placed a hand on their respective pendants, finally accepting his gift.

Xue Lan softening her gaze :"Alright, Xuan. If this brings you peace of mind, then we'll carry them. Just  take care of yourself on this journey. And if you ever need help, remember we're here for you too."

Xuan Tianyi firmly said :"We'll respect your wishes, Xuan. But don't think this means we'll stop watching out for you. Keep your focus, and make sure you come back safely."

Xuan smiling, feeling reassured : "Thank you, both of you. I'll come back stronger, I promise. And with these, I know you'll be safe too."
