Return

Lunch had ended and all of them headed inside the living room to study. With a belly full of food and satisfied expression, Jiang Shan sat down on the soft carpet and pulled out her phone.

Catching sight of this, Cao Wei then tutted and said, "Xiao Shen, we're here to study, not be on the phone."

Jiang Shen ignored her words and replied, "Eh? But I already studied for the exams. I'm spending my time to relax."

"Then teach us."

Mathematics was by far the subject they've been facing a lot of problems with, if they had Jiang Shen's help, the chances of passing the exams would be higher.

Jiang Shen put down her phone and scooted over to Cao Wei's side. "Then, what subject do you need help with?"

"Math!"

"On second thought, never mind." Jiang Shen scooted farther. She was not good in Math. It was the subject that she worked on the most. If not for Qing Yao's notes then she would've been unable to finish her revisions.

"I'll teach you."

Yang Mu approached them from the dining table a few meters away and sat next to Cao Wei. "In what points are you having a hard time with?" He locked gazes with Jiang Shen, to which she threw a grateful look. Yang Mu nodded understandingly.

"Teacher Du taught us this method to solve..."

"Then you should use this formula and then..."

Just like that, everyone stuck their heads in their own notes trying to make sense of what was to come on the exams. Jiang Shen felt a little full and took a nap on the table.

When an hour or two had gone by, Yang Mu managed to softly nudge her awake. "Jiang Shen..."

"Hmm..." She was enjoying her dream of diving underwater with an octopus doing backflips.

"Wake up." Jiang Shen could feel his warm breathe on her ear as she bat open her eyes and sat straight.

Yang Mu had a startled look on his face, his hand still on her shoulder. He then smiled apologetically and said, "I'm sorry if I woke you up."

"It's fine. Why, what's the matter?" Jiang Shen shook her head. Although she couldn't quite remember her dream, she was sure that it wasn't of any importance. Most of her dreams were very weird after all.

He pointed at her bag and said, "It's been vibrating since a few minutes ago. It might be someone important."

"Thank you."

Jiang Shen pulled out her phone from her bag and frowned at the caller I.D. She then stood up and said, "I'm going to take a call. Be right back."

Yang Mu nodded and resumed to teaching the others. However his gaze would follow her figure until she went out the door.

Outside, Jiang Shen then answered the call. "Hello?"

[Hey. Sorry to call you so suddenly.]

"It's fine but why did you call me?"

They've been having contact for a few times this past week. Somehow, it made Jiang Shen feel strange. He wasn't acting like his usual self. Furthermore, why would he make the initiative to talk to her? Jiang Shen couldn't help but guess if he had an ulterior motive. But she hurriedly dismissed it. Qing Yao, acting with an ulterior motive? Yeah, right and pigs fly.

[My revision notes are with you, aren't they?]

She glanced at her bag inside the house and nodded. "They are, why? Do you need them back?"

[Mhm.]

"So sudden. You should've told me yesterday. I could've dropped by your class."

[... Sorry.]

Jiang Shen sighed. Now she had to go out of her way to find him. "It's fine. I'll deliver them to you. Where are you now?"

[The new café on sixth avenue.]

The café on sixth avenue was called Moka Pot. It had been a few months since it opened and the last time she went there was with Shi Fen during the summer. Having said that, the café now had a decent amount of customers and was quite popular among moviegoers.

Jiang Shen glanced at her friends, who seemed to be having fun with each other while studying and said, "Sure. I'll be there as soon as I can."

[Take your time.]

The call ended as Jiang Shen strode back inside and grabbed her bag.

"Where are you going?" Kang Shu asked. She had noticed that Jiang Shen was being idle since this morning as her movements were lazy. Now that she seemed to be in a hurry, it was strange.

Yang Mu also looked up from his notes and curiously looked on. He had been wondering why she frowned when her phone rang. It had something to do with the call she made.

Jiang Shen dismissed their worries and said, "To the café on sixth avenue."

"Why?" Shi Fen then also asked. Jiang Shen wouldn't normally go to public places alone and always asked him to tag alone. Now that she was hurrying to go alone, it made him confused.

"I'm going to return Yao's notebook. He asked for it so i'm going to bring it to him," Jiang Shen replied nonchalantly. In any case, it was better than being idle in a friend's house.

"Why doesn't he just come here and get it himself?" Yang Mu then interjected.

Mo Ran and Li Er shared surprised looks at the hint of passive aggressive tone in his voice. All of them turned to look at Yang Mu, who only tilted his head and continued, "You're a girl. Girls shouldn't be going out alone in public. It's dangerous."

Jiang Shen shook her head. "I know how to defend myself so i'm fine. There's no need to worry about someone kidnapping me in broad daylight."

"But still—"

"I'll go with her."

Shi Fen stood up and walked over to Jiang Shen. He then narrowed his eyes at Yang Mu, whose smile seemed to send warning signals in his mind. "Then wouldn't the problem be solved?"

Yang Mu discarded his previous thought and smiled. "Sure! Stay safe on the road."

Jiang Shen did feel that Yang Mu acted a little weird but after thinking about it, he did grow up overseas. It was different from here. And naturally she thought that he was only being careful, failing to realize that he cared about her.

When the two left the house, the atmosphere turned weird. In the end, Cao Wei muttered, "What was that all about...?"
