Stalker

Exam week had passed by successfully and the only thing left before the semester finally ends is the awaited Talent Showcase, to be organized by the one and only Jiang Shen.

Shi Fen and the others hung out at their spot under the oak tree with laziness. The sun was high in the sky and there was nothing to do.

Classes were done and the teachers had already gathered at the administration building testing each and every paper meticulously with great care and attention.

Yang Mu hadn't seen the others in a while. After their unfortunate parting last weekend, Mo Ran and Li Er were busy helping out as part of the committee.

Yang Mu had been bombarded with several people claiming to be his fans and shoved snacks in his arms before he could reject the offer.

Despite his great patience, the constant giggling and screaming in his ears exhausted him greatly. Truly, it was not easy to be popular.

He had to wonder how on earth Cheng Muyi manages to keep a distance from those intense fangirls. Yang Mu walked on the path of cobblestones under the wisterias again and couldn't help but sigh.

Somehow he had managed to evade those scary girls. For now. He had to find a safe place to hide. As he followed the trail, he remembered the spot where Shi Fen and the others ate their lunches.

True to his memory, all of them were lazing around under the pergola with sighs and bored expressions.

"Ah, it's the famous Yang Zu*." Cao Wei, who was sprawled on the table on her back with her head hanging on the edge of the table, exclaimed blankly.

It wasn't an exaggeration to say that this particular day was hot. One had to wonder if they were still in the midst of summer and not autumn.

If not for the large oak tree providing them with ample amounts of breeze and shade, all of them would already be sweating buckets.

Yang Mu looked helpless. "I'm not a scholar."

He took a seat next to Kang Shu, who had her head on the table, with a concentrated look trying to absorb the breeze as much as she could.

"Don't mind everyone. It's been a very unproductive afternoon," Cao Wei droned as she stared at the sky peeking out from the leaves.

"Let me stay here for a while," Yang Mu sighed in relief when he saw that no one had followed him.

"Ah! Let me guess, you've been stalked by your fan club, haven't you?"

Yang Mu couldn't help but shudder when he remembered the intense stares of admiration from the girls. In actuality, if he wasn't hanging out with Jiang Shen, he would've been able to lie low after the commotion had died down and everyone had turned away their attention.

After all, there were no lack of good looking people in the Institute. Therefore, even though Yang Mu has a rarely seen handsome looks, his popularity should stay above average.

Another thing to take note was his excessive amount of friendliness. No girl would every refuse help from such a kind and handsome young man.

"Are those snacks in your arms also from them?" Cao Wei mused as she seemed about ready pounce on him for the snacks.

Yang Mu realized he was still holding on to the snacks and placed them all on the table. "You can have them. I'm not hungry."

"Lucky!"

Cao Wei made sure each and every one of them had a snack and threw them into the arms of everyone. While the rest, well... no one would mind taking it for herself.

About a half hour later when everyone had finished eating, there was an announcement that every student could go home. With that being said, everyone became spirited and practically jumped up before making a beeline towards their backpacks.

"The dean is so nice! I wish we could go home as early as today until the showcase," Ju Sheng sighed with bliss.

"Better yet, they should just cancel classes. We're only here for the attendance anyway." Cheng Muyi yawned and stretched his limbs, earning the agreement of others.

Kang Shu put her hair up in a ponytail, practically revealing her tender face and gummy smile, as she laughed at Cheng Muyi's words. "We're not here for the attendance guys. We're here to support Jiang Shen, okay?"

Shi Fen felt his heart race when he got a good look on her beautiful features. He had always seen her as a good friend, maybe he's swayed by his feelings? After all, it's been a few months since his last heartbreak.

Cheng Muyi felt enlightened. "Ah, right. I forgot," he sheepishly smiled.

"What do you guys mean?" Yang Mu questioned. He hasn't seen Jiang Shen lately and was curious as to where she was. Unfortunately he couldn't freely roam the campus because of his legion of fangirls.

When he gets home he might have to ask for Mo Ran's help. That guy was great at disguising people.

"Oh I didn't tell you?" Cao Wei sipped her free drink and batted her eyes innocently. "Shen's at the Zen arranging the venue for the showcase. I even heard that there's going to be an after party."

"You can go find her right now if you want. I'm sure she'll be surprised to see you," Ju Shen interjected.

But Yang Mu shook his head. "I wouldn't be able to go there even if I tried."

"Why not?" He had legs and he could walk, Ju Sheng wondered why he can't.

Cao Wei snickered, patting his back and said, "There's a mad legion of crazy fangirls waiting for him at every turn. He'll be drowned by the sheer number of girls before he could take a step into the building."

"Then how will you get your bag and go home?"

Yang Mu pulled out his phone. "I'll just text Mo Ran and Li Er. You guys get home safely," he assured flashing his signature smile.

Shi Fen and others didn't push it before saying their goodbyes and left the place.

Yang Mu sighed and sat on the stone chair. It was a good thing he managed to persuade the others to leave. He didn't want to be a bother and cause unwanted trouble.
