Unpleasant Incident

The talent showcase was officially underway. Official news of the after party had already been spread by the student union a week before the event.

Many students made the effort of dressing up in their best attire, prompting the crowd of dazzling students to show off their youthfulness.

While the hall had been filled with the bustle of students, backstage was even more chaotic. Everyone was hustling and bustling back and forth that Jiang Shen had to user her megaphone to calm them down.

After several shouts and warnings, everything returned to normal as the acts prepared themselves to perform on the stage. Everything was perfect. Now all that was left was the host.

Fortunately, it was none other than her good friend, Cheng Muyi. He was charismatic, popular, and had good social skills. She couldn't have asked for a better person to start the event.

Jiang Shen was one of the remaining students who hadn't changed out of their gym clothes. In a tracksuit that had already been dirtied, Jiang Shen oversaw the entire event unfold above the catwalk.

Her ponytail was disheveled and her face was sweating from the heat. If it wasn't because she enjoyed doing this, she might as well be also down in the audience enjoying the performances.

"How's our public relations officer going? Still have any energy left?"

Jiang Shen looked towards the person who arrived and scoffed. "No thanks to you. I had to personally oversee everything because of the afterparty."

Ling Wenzhen, the student union president, arrives in a casual suit looking especially sharp. However it looked off putting when paired with his silly personality.

Jiang Shen watched herself when anything involved him. He was a master at shirking his responsibilities and bargaining at the amount of work he puts in.

But she had to remind herself that everything had always been smoothly running since he took over. He wasn't the best in terms of personality, so Jiang Shen had no comment about that point.

"Now, who was the one who agreed to be the public relations officer?" Ling Wenzhen leaned on the railings and shook his head. "If Advisor Pei were to know you've been admonishing the president, how disheartened would he be?"

Jiang Shen rolled her eyes. "Stop kidding around. Advisor Pei would definitely be disheartened by you. Such a lazy president adding to his workload, give the old man a break!"

"I'm only helping Advisor Pei get some workout. Old people should keep fit to prevent them from getting illnesses." Ling Wenzhen playfully stuck his tongue out and laughed.

Jiang Shen smiled helplessly.

"If Advisor Pei was here, he would definitely smack your head with a roll of newspaper."

"Too bad he's not! The teachers are still cooped up in the administration building grading papers."

"Officer, we need your help over here!" a student yelled backstage with a mic over his head.

Jiang Shen turned and said, "I'll be right there. You—"

Ling Wenzhen nodded. He waved her off and said, "Don't mind me. I'm just escaping from a certain someone."

Jiang Shen thought, /He was definitely escaping from vice president./

Although it was against the handbook to date, not a lot of people followed it. In addition, no teachers had ever pursued the matter of dating before. Only because the people who had been caught dating always had excellent results. Thus, it became the sole rule in the handbook in name.

Jiang Shen arrived in the dressing rooms, where two girls were in the middle of a heated argument, shouting like banshees in the dark forest.

She then authoritatively said, "What is going on here?"

Truth be told she was furious herself. What are these two girls doing causing a fuss in the middle of the showcase?

Seeing such an esteemed figure arrive, the two girls glared at each other hatefully.

The skinny one then pointed at the chubby girl and said, "She stole one of the accessories that i'm going to be using for my performance! Now she's denying it and even messed up my makeup!"

The onlookers looked at the skinny one with disgust. Her makeup wasn't ruined by the other girl, it's because she immediately cried trying to act like a victim.

Meanwhile, the chubby one did mistakingly take her accessory, but it was because their costumes were right next to each other.

Jiang Shen frowned deeply. In Hua Institute, it was the first time she had seen such an unreasonable person who dared to throw their weight around.

"It's because she's a relative of the Dean that she's acting bold," a committee member whispered in her ear.

Her expression turned pale as she bit her lip. /It was over./

Jiang Shen approached the victim and asked, "What really happened?"

"It was her! I was just about to change into my costume when she forcefully grabbed my—"

"I wasn't talking to you."

Her voice was chilling and dominant as the temperature seems to have taken a drop. The skinny one couldn't help but shiver.

"I was just—"

"Ping Ling! Who do you think you are to be defying me?!"

The chubby girl, Ping Ling, felt her legs turn soft as she collapsed on the floor with a thud. Jiang Shen, with her back against the shrilling voice, frowned.

/This is exhausting my mental capacity./

Jiang Shen wanted to end this unpleasant incident quickly and said, "Lu Meihui."

The skinny girl stopped in her tracks when she heard her name. Just as she was about to voice out that she would like to file a complain, Jiang Shen's calm but eerily scary voice rang out.

"If you still want to be a student here, I suggest you stop fussing and apologize to Ping Ling."

"Why would I—"

"Unless you want the Dean to know how you've been spending your time threatening and blackmailing your fellow students?"

Jiang Shen smiled, making Lu Meihui shiver in fear. She looked pale and about ready to collapse as she unconsciously nodded.

Her smile got wider as she clapped her hands. "Good!"

"Everyone should continue to resume what they were doing. We don't want there to be any delays with the performances. Let's go!"

In just a few minutes, Jiang Shen had settled the issue. She turned to Ping Ling and patted her head. "If she still harasses you, come find me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go."

Ping Ling still felt the warmth on her head as she nodded gratefully. She felt relieved as the figure departed from the throng of performers.
