Lewis’s Training

Lewis stayed at the mansion a little longer after the mermaids left. We had some matters to settle with him, and he didn't have to go back at all since his parents would assume he just fell asleep in his makeshift science lab again…

Yang and I brought Lewis to our martial arts training area. Since Lewis decided to learn martial arts, there was no problem with discussing the details in the training room before getting started.

Yang began, "If you're going to be learning under me, you have to understand some things. First, this is not all fun and games. It will be very difficult to master the things I'll be teaching you. Of course, it'd be best if you didn't hate the process; if you hate it then it'll all be useless."

Lewis frowned. "Why would I hate training?"

Yang grinned darkly. "Because it'll hurt. Because it'll be boring at times. Because you won't have as much time to do other things. The list goes on…"

I smirked. "Alright, Yang. Don't scare him off. Look at him, he went pale!"

Lewis really was scared stiff.

Yang chuckled. "Okay, okay. Don't worry, Lewis. Honestly, it won't be as bad as it seems. Once you get used to the daily routine, it'll be like second nature."

Lewis exhaled, "That's a relief… but wait, what do you mean, 'daily'?"

"You'll be living here for the first few weeks of your training. Yang will be monitoring your progress and helping you through the tough parts. It'll be like a live-in training camp of sorts. We will take care of the absence excuse for the school, and we'll make sure your parents won't worry," I explained.

Lewis sweatdropped. "Uhh… well I wasn't expecting something like this…"

Yang raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you're chickening out?"

"No! Of course not! It's unexpected, but I can handle it," Lewis hurriedly explained.

"好! Then everything is settled! Let's get your room set up," Yang concluded smilingly.

Lewis followed Yang to the room he'd be staying in for the next few weeks, and Yang customized it for him with his powers. He only allowed him to customize three things, of course. He wanted to keep it simple, for the sake of keeping Lewis focused on training. Of course, a magical version of a flatscreen tv was out of the question.

Then all three of us had dinner made from the seafood we caught in the lagoon before Lewis was sent back to his room to get some sleep. He had to be fully rested if he was going to survive his first day of training tomorrow…

"I'll go take care of the school and work excuses and informing Lewis's parents. You get some sleep," Yang said as he kissed me on the forehead.

I shook my head. "Let me do it," I insisted. "You have a long day tomorrow. I know it'll be easy for you, but it's still better to be well rested since you'll be spending the entire day training not only yourself, but Lewis too. He's… well, no offense to him, but he's built like a scrawny chicken. Even YOU will need to use some effort to train him well."

Yang smirked, "You're just trying to be considerate."

He kissed me again before continuing, "You have a point, though. Getting some good rest before tomorrow won't hurt either. I'll leave the rest to you."

Yang and I exchanged loving smiles.

"晚安," he said in Chinese.

"Goodnight," I said in English.

Yang returned to his room and I peered out at the sparkling moonlit ocean.

'Time to go make some excuses…'

I laughed and dove into the midnight-tinted waves, and torpedoed toward the coast.

The next two hours were spent getting Lewis and Yang excused from school and work, and of course I also went to inform Lewis's parents of his sudden decision to join a school club training trip for a few weeks.

Yang and I already applied our Martial Arts Club to the school, and it got accepted on certain conditions. Now we are in the process of recruiting members, but it hasn't been long enough yet for the news to spread through the school. Tomorrow, I'll probably be quite busy with accepting applications and arranging the new members in the club.

Of course, Lewis is accepted by default since he's being personally trained by Yang.

After a long day, I drifted through the ocean with my softly glowing tail. I wasn't in any rush, so I let the currents carry me steadily towards Mako and relaxed my mind. The moon shone through the surface of the water as I took in the sights both above and below the water.

…This was really nice.

The next morning, when I woke up for school, Yang had already begun Lewis's training. I didn't disturb them.

After a decent breakfast, I got ready for school and sped through the water toward the coast. I arrived just in time to run into the mermaid trio at the entrance.

"Hey, Selena! Where's Yang?" Cleo asked.

Emma nodded curiously. "Come to think of it, where's Lewis?"

Rikki frowned, "That's rare, for Lewis to skip..."

"Don't worry, Lewis is training at the mansion with Yang. He agreed to take him as a student and teach him martial arts," I smiled.

The trio were stunned.

Rikki raised her eyebrows in disbelief. "Lewis? A martial artist? You've got to be joking!"

I laughed. "I said it yesterday to Yang, too: he's built like a scrawny chicken. But I trust Yang's abilities. He'll definitely succeed in training Lewis."

Cleo frowned worriedly, "He won't get hurt or anything, right?"

"Cleo, don't worry. Yang knows what he's doing. He won't let Lewis get hurt," I reassured.

She exhaled in relief and perked up a bit. "Well, in that case, I'm sure he'll be fine. Let's go in or we'll be late."

We all nodded and headed to our classrooms.
