Chapter 6 - She failed Them

"Am I a tomboy? A tee bird? A Lesbian? Will this be the cause of the Dooms Year of my would be failure in becoming a student leader in college?" These are some questions to herself.

A soul searching should be done if she would like to know herself better. She knew it would be a long process. By reading information about her doubt could have helped in her self-analysis. Such matter could not be discussed with her parents.

"What if I would discuss this to my brother?" Will he be able to help me?

School's election was over and she remained to be a common student despite her name at the bulletin board published as one of the dean's listers. In the classroom she was the most active learners both in oral and written activities. Aside from this, she was inactive that made her life a little bit lousy. From the time she was doubtfully accused, she decided to be alone, because in her batch mates, she was the only girl who enrolled in Criminology. She had to bear with this reality until she becomes a degree holder.

Valentines day arrives. Another surprise awaited her outside her door. An expensive singing valentine's card was pinned. She saw it, did not read nor unpinned it. It served as a door decoration not a wall decoration. Whenever the secret sender saw it, he would just assure himself that, "at least she did not throw it again in the waste bin"

The school year ended without disturbance, without anyone pestering her. It was the best decision that she did in her life not to be friendly with her fellow boys, she thought for herself trying to be untrue to herself denying of her true gender. With this thought, she was at last thankful to his father's false accusation to her so called flirtatious deeds.

Summer vacation after her freshman college was divided to helping her parents and socializing with her fellow youth. May is fast approaching for the barangay election that includes Sk officers to be elected. Whether she liked it or not to mix with them, she had to, otherwise her candidacy would be doomed again just like that in her school.

Although her place was more or less 37 kilometers away from Mr de la Cruz, still he was updated with her activities. With this, again he secretly supported her in financial matter through someone's bank account Although she noticed it that a financial support for her was pouring like a rain, she did not ask her father nor her mother about it. She was afraid that a revelation might pushed her to rebel against them.

The campaign was done endlessly until the votation came. After voting she preferred to fight her nervousness by going to the house of her former high school teacher, who used to be her coach in journalism. As she was very close not only to her coach but to her family as well, she enjoyed their company playing chess, Chinese checker and scrabble.

Behind her back, while she was away from home, her family was busy monitoring the counting of the votes. At the midst of the crowd, Clariss whispered to Richard that made the latter dashed home. Closed door at their home, in its living room, Joshua was seated waiting for Richclar's parents to arrive. Upon their arrival, Joshua kissed the hands of Richard and Clariss that they willingly gave in.

"What time would Richclar come home?" he inquired inquisitively.

"So far, I instructed her to come home at six o' clock in the evening.

" Do you think she would be the SK chairman here?" he asked worriedly.

" If no one among those youth would turn her/his back from her, she would surely win over the other candidate." Clariss analyzed for them.

"Papa & Mama, I would like her to win for her self-contentment as a youth leader. I was sad for her when she refused being a student leader in school," He expressed his willingness to dote on her.

Then he quipped, "She was a very glamorous woman to be a man. Please give her the proper guidance about sexuality." Unexpectedly he added blatantly, "I would like to get married to a woman, not to a man. God made her a female, so be it. If all these years, she had a confusion over her sexuality, then it is your role to educate her properly and I am begging from you with all my heart. In due time, I would profess my feelings for her."

Richclar's parents were tongue tied as they had their remorse of conscience. It seemed that they were selling off their youngest daughter to this man who was not oblivious that their daughter was still immature to entertain him as her suitor. They knew that Richclar was still disinterested to have a love life. All she wanted for the time being was to fulfill her dreams in life. She was so enthusiastic to realize them that she knew what plan A and plan B mean. Her plan A was to be a student leader, her plan B was to be a SK chairman in their barangay. She failed to do her plan A so she resorted to her plan B. Even though she did not talk to Joshua except during recitation as he was her instructor, still he was able to track her every dream in life. He had someone tracked her for him aside from her amazing opinions expressed during class hours.

No one could hinder his feelings for her. Even million spears or thousand machine guns could never obstruct him for loving her. Yes, he had once girl friends, but, they were nothing to him. They were just flings. Unlike Richclar who would give him sleepless nights. By just admiring her perfect curves drove him to be in a very cold shower for a long time. Sometimes he would even ask himself why of all women he would have fallen to this girl who would like to be in a boy's uniform. In fact, from the time he learned of her silly dream to be a boy, it urged him to think of an effective strategy to trick her. Two years from now, he was very sure that there could be the best idea to become a triumphant cunning lover of Richclar.

Tomboyish nor Lesbian had no room to refuse his unconditional love for her. What could she ask for more? He was more than willing to dote on her, afterall. He knew that Richclar was an outstanding martial arts student. Therefore, he should practice more and more in order for her not to topple him down when the time comes.

At 4:00 o' clock in the afternoon, he left the house of Richclar in a disguised appearance and an outlook in life that sooner or later Richclar would be his wife.

At 6:00 o' clock in the evening Richclar arrived home with the unofficial good news that she won as the SK chairman of their place. She held her excitement until it was officially declared. Somehow, someone was overjoyed from afar when he received the positive news about Richclar's success.

A victory party was again financed by her secret lover, her boyfriend behind her back. Her lover she didn't know to be dotting on her.

During the party, a banquet was also prepared. Someone was secretly taking a video coverage for the secret lover. But this was known to Richard and Clariss. The merriment seemed to be non stop. Richclar was forced to taste only a wine with only 7 % alcohol in it. However, because she was not used to it, her alcohol tolerance was very low. As a result, one bottle of wine made her puke that she became wasted. Her initiative of using her common sense to rest for a while in her bedroom was done. When she was sobered with the warm drinking water and a coconut juice, she joined her visitor once again. With the insistence of her colleagues, being their leader she was unable to refuse drinking once more. While drinking she was dancing with the girls in their neighbourhood. All of a sudden, a girl from the town proper arrived and hugged Richclar tightly. Next, she quickly outdone from hugging and ran inside her bedroom. When she came out everybody was dumbfounded with her male looks. She was wearing a tight maong pants and a black shirt that was tucked in creaselessly coupled with a black cap, black sneaker designed for males. With such attire she danced with the newly arrived girl whom she called 'Babes'. She was so happy dancing with her, embracing her, and what was more so shocking was kissing her in front of the crowd who attended her victory party.

Richard and Clariss were speechless while staring with each other's eyes. As if they had practiced it, they both shouted while switching off the sound system.

"Richclarrrrrr! What is the meaning of your scandalous action?!"

Richclar stopped dancing with babes, who also immediately followed her while holding hands, they went near Richard and Clariss. Then she declared brazenly, "Pa... Ma.. She is my girlfriend and I Love her."

"How dare you told us about your foolishness! I thought you are intelligent? How come that you denied what God wanted you to be?" Her mother indignantly yelled at her while her father slapped her face twice, from left to right and shouted with his point finger aimed to babes.

" You shameless girl, get away from here. You are pulling down my daughter in hell! "

Then with his drooping shoulder, with an embarrassed face, he said in a defeated expression, "Richclar... You failed us as your parents." Then he walked away towards his rice field... with him was his wife.
