Combat Tower

Tristan calmed himself down that got ready for the next round.

He was still in the arena. And his replica was his opponent. This time the replica was same as the first one. Equal in strength to Tristan, but using the first tactic. Tristan defeated the replica easily.

But then the replica arrived again, but now using a combination of the first two tactics together in a perfect fusion. Tristan struggled a lot, but managed to defeat the opponent and then received an enlightenment again.

With this he understood of the nature of the subsequent tests. The next replica would be using 3 tactics mixed together and the one after that four tactics and so on.

Tristan struggled crazily against the third opponent but kept getting better and better during the fight. As he began obtaining the advantage, he did not end the battle quickly, but instead used the opportunity to try and use the first four styles together against this opponent. He did this until he felt very comfortable. Both opponents could fight indefinitely and so there was no hurry to defeat his opponent, he was using the third opponent to prepare for the fourth.

He repeated the same tactic against the fourth and so on. Doing this meant that he struggled at the beginning of every battle, but he never lost and near the middle overcame his opponent and then used it as a sharpener to make his own combat much more effective.

This round of twenty opponents took him over six months of constant fighting to get through. He thought he would be mentally exhausted at this point, but whenever he got extremely tired, he felt a coolness emit from within his brain. It was a combination of the spirit and frost aura's healing that rejuvenated him constantly. The counter on his evolution mission was now at 40 wins.

The next stage was a battle against Ares himself, the creator of the tactic. Ares strength would be matched to Tristan's and he had to fight Ares 20 times again.

Tristan decided to use only the tactics Ares did so that he could see his faults with each battle and rectify them. However, with the first battle itself he realized that his moves were full of imperfections compared to the flexible and mysterious use of the same simple tactic by Ares.

Once again Tristan spent a month fighting just the first level of Ares. At this point he had managed to reach equal with Ares, but still not managed to overpower him. Several times, Tristan felt the urge to quit the tower because he was feeling that he had spent too much time learning a tactic. He had already disappeared from the outside world for 8 months. He had missed his university.

Yet, in the end he didn't give up. He didn't feel right to leave without defeating Ares and so another month passed. After two whole months of fighting just the first level of Ares, Tristan finally defeated him.

7 years later. Tristan was fighting the final Ares who was using the combined tactics from before to fight. He had been fighting with this version of Ares for the past three years and the last year he had been more or less on equal terms when it came to the use of Ares Tactics. Today, Tristan was sure, he would win. Using a complicated maneuver, Tristan applied a spiral intent into his punch and toppled Ares before dashing and attacking with a final kick, blasting Ares away. He had won.

Tristan was on the verge of a mental collapse, but had somehow made it through this horrifying trial of seven years. He felt like he could at least say that no one could compete with him when it came to Ares Tactics alone. At this moment the physical evolution quest counter finally marked 60 kills and automatically completed.

These choices made Tristan fall into doubt. The three paths, he knew little if anything about the other two paths. But the True Gold Body Path was the path of the Battle Body Royal Bloodline. It was a foreign cultivation path and he was sure that if he chose that, he wouldn't be able to evolve it again because of his vow.

He decided to hold onto deciding before he exited the tower and tried finding some information. As he was thinking about this, Tristan was transported into a tiny room. In the room, was a man he had come to know well in the last 7 years. It was Ares.

"Friend, I have been watching you learning...from nothing to becoming capable enough to beat me at my best in my own tactics. You are worth being called a friend." Ares spoke.

Tristan nodded. "I have been fighting you for seven years, indeed I would be lying if I did not consider you a comrade from life and death."

Ares smiled. "It has been seven years inside the tower, but only seven days in the real world. I must say, I have not seen a person with the willpower of your calibre. You are the only person to have beaten the tower completely on their very first attempt. I will thus present you with a few gifts.

First, this is the inheritance of my true combat art, Dominating World, which I never spread out to the world and which made me famous. You can learn it." Saying so, Ares pointed his finger at Tristan's forehead and all information, Ares own experiences, intuition as well as battle intuition were transferred to Tristan.

"Second, I will impart upon you my warriors aura, which you can clad upon yourself as both a defensive tool as well as an offensive weapon. You can control the aura using Dominating World. Unfortunately, your vessel appears to be full and you can only learn this when you have formed your plate. Take this orb which is a condensation of my aura and absorb it once you form a plate."
