Temple!

As Sora steps outside he is greeted by Japanese style temple gates although the carvings are different, behind the tall gate is a row of stairs leading up the hill and bearly in his sight the tall wooden building at the top of the stairs.

Sora takes a few seconds to appreciate the view, the clear air and the small gusts of the evening wind. Taking a deep breath he starts walking forward and onto the stairs. Now that he is closer he sees the carvings on the gates depicting battles and legendary beasts. Looking down he now notices the carvings on the stairs depicting weapons.

As he walks on the stairs he couldn't take his eyes off them but he still kept walking. The weapons kept changing from swords, spears, halberds to staves and everything in between. Not once has the same weapon appeared. Only variations of it.

Soon he reached the top he received the full view of the temple as a stone pat paved the way towards it, on both side stood a statue of a horse with their front legs that were facing the path raised up, their heads held high. They were adorned with stone armor with carvings on it.

The only difference between the two was the stone they were made off. One was black and the other white while the carvings were white for the black one and black for the white one. They were about 2 meters tall. As the stone path continued in the middle of it stood another statue.

This one was slightly over 3 meters tall. It was made out of a grayish crystal. The statue was of a handsome man with sharp features and wavy long hair. His body wasn't adorned with any armor or clothing as he was fully naked, his muscles were perfectly sculptured not too much not too little.

He stood with his left leg facing forward positioned in front of his right which was facing right. His arms were held slightly away from his body. His body was straight like a spear as his face faced the entrance. Sora felt like the statue itself held unbreakable willpower.

Behind the humanoid statue stood a glorious wooden temple, it had a very imposing aura as even if the sky itself fell on it it wouldn't break. Sora simply stands there appreciating the sight with a wide grin over his face ignoring everything else especially the fact of the three men and two women that seemed to be worshipers or priests of the temple.

It seemed like they were cleaning and talking before Sora came as they had brooms in their hands.

One of the men and one of the women were older people with all their hair already turned gray both looked as if they were handsome in their prime. Even still they held themselves straight, both had a sharp gaze and were full of vigor. The old man was tall about 190 centimeters while the woman was about 180 centimeters. They wore half black half white kimonos.

The kimonos seemed to be the clothing for the temple priests as the other three wore the same kimonos they seemed to be their grandchildren as they resembled them. You could even mistake them for their younger versions.

The only difference would be that one of the men and the woman were short and they seemed to be twins while the other man is as tall as his grandfather. He seemed to be around 20 years old, while the twins seemed to be about 18 years old. And of course, they had pitch-black hair.

The men all had left their hair to grow to shoulder length and tied it up while the women tied their hair into a bun.

They all held a confused expression as they looked at their weird guest, The 18-year-old boy scratched his head puts away the broom and walks towards Sora.

"Excuse me miss? Is there anything I can help you with?" The boy says with a gentle smile as he approaches Sora.

Only now Sora takes note of their presence and pulls his attention away from the beautiful architecture of the temple. His grin turning in to a wide smile.

"Good evening. Sorry to trouble you but I would like to pray at this temple, but I have never done so before. So if you don't mind can you show me the proper etiquette to take." Sora says keeping his smile.

"Of course right this way, but if you don't mind me asking miss why have you chosen to pray to the war god Meorus?" The boy asks.

"Haha! You shouldn't judge by appearance you'll never know when you'll be fooled." Sora says with a smile.

"I guess you are right miss I apologize for the question." The boy says scratching his head.

"Don't worry about it," Sora says waving his hand as if brushing it off.

"Alright please follow me," The boy says as he turns around and walks towards the temple. The others just continued with the cleaning.

"Why have you come at such a late time?" He asks again with curiosity.

"I was busy training and studying, I was supposed to come at a later date but I found some time to do so now," Sora says.

"Ah, I see, my grandfather always says one must always train and achieve new hights, as well as always be prepared where ever you are." He says with enthusiasm.

"Of course you never know when something might surprise you," Sora says with a chuckle, as they were talking they soon reached the temple.

"God Meorus is a God that doesn't care for worldly possessions so unlike other temples there are no offering pedestals, Meorus prefers one's own strength and skill than wealth, looks, or anything else."

"How does the Temple maintain itself then?" Sora asks with a curious look while looking around at the inside. There weren't many decorations expect pictures of once again weapons, battles, and mythical beasts.

"A lot of our family members are important figureheads in the military, so we maintain it ourselves." He says with a smile.

"Ah, I see," Sora says with a nod.

They soon reached the back of the room. In front of them stood another statue of the man in front this time with his right fist in front of his heart with his front fingers hidden behind the back of his hand, and his left hand hidden behind his back.

"First take the same posture as him, close your eyes, then bow without bending your back and say your prayer," He shows Sora what to do.

Sora does as he showed and says his prayer 'If you exist and can hear this I ask of you... no, I want one thing and that is strength to protect the ones I care about and slaughter my enemies. I shall achieve this no matter what.'

Sora finishes his prayer and raises back up opening his eyes with a determined look.

(The name of the god came from the combination of the names from Ancient Egyptian gods Horus, the god of the king, the sky, war, and protection and Menhit, goddess of war, "she who massacres")
