Chapter 8 Second Danger Encounter

Sounds of arrows flying fill the air as a man in violet who was hiding his face with a violet veil gave chase to the group, he shot a violet feathered arrow towards Gao Changgong's direction as he tried his best to kill the man.

"Who the heck is that man?! Why is he chasing after us?" Gao Yanzong yelled frustrated as they go faster.

"Is it not clear enough, he is an assassin!" Guan Yu yelled back as he shoot the veiled man.

"Everyone stop! There is a cliff ahead!" Huan Mingyun yelled out loud as she remembered in the original's memories that there is a hidden cliff ahead, many Qi people and drafters fell to their death in that cliff because of it being so cleverly hidden out of sight.

"Stop!" Gao Changgong who clearly heard what Huan Mingyun said ordered his two subordinates to stop, it was so close! If they had been one step late and was not able to stop in time then they would have definitely fallen off the cliff and to their deaths.

*Horse Whines!*

"It's a dead end, what should we do?" Gao Yanzong yelled.

"What else, we can only fight him now. His only a one man, how can he possibly fare against the three of us and most of all to 4th Lord. As long as we have 4th Lord nothing is impossible!" Guan Yu exclaimed as he went off his horse ready for battle.

The veiled man smirked behind his veil when he heard what Guan Yu said, he raised his right hand and dozens of violet veiled man appeared out of the bushes holding bows with poisoned arrows.

"Sh*t! That's cheating!" Guan Yu choke on his saliva as he ate what he just said before, seeing that their enemies are well prepared he can only give them a thumbs up.

"It looks like we have fallen into a trap, but who could this people be? Why are they after us?" Gao Changgong mumbled as he took off his horse, he knew that it was impossible to make it out of there without a little sacrifice.

"4th brother?" Gao Yanzong looked at Gao Changgong who unsheathed his sword, he walk towards him and whispered some words to him.

"5th brother, I will make way for you and Xiao Yun. You must quickly go and never look back when that time comes, remember bring Xiao Yun safely back home. I'll leave her in your care." Gao Changgong whispered as he pat Gao Yanzong by his shoulders.

"No. 4th brother, come with us!" Gao Yanzong held Gao Changgong's arms but he only shook his hand off and sternly ordered him.

"Vice Commander, it is not a request but an order! Get out of here!" Gao Changgong roared at him as he faced his enemy.

Gao Yanzong could only look at Gao Changgong as he steeled his heart and did as he was ordered, he grab Huan Mingyun off Gao Changgong's horse and made her sit on his back and quickly rode away.

"Catch him!" The veiled man who was the leader of the group look at Gao Yanzong with bloodshot eyes as he tried to stop his escape.

"Not on my watch!" Guan Yu whacked all the arrows that flew towards Gao Yanzong and Huan Mingyun, he roared fiercely as he block the veiled assassins from chasing after them.

"...." Gao Changgong quickly unsheathed his sword and joined the fray, he skillfully avoided the arrows as he fought with six of the dozen veiled assassins at once.

Gao Changgong and Guan Yu were skilled fighters that had walk out of so many bloody battles so many times yet the veiled assassins were so skilled that they had a hard time fending them off but even so, Gao Changgong who had the golden halo of the favored son of heaven yet the tragic end of a mob character defeated at least half the dozen of the veiled man with only a few scratch.

The leader of the veiled man looked at Gao Changgong with red eyes but his eyes did not stay on him for a long time because his target was not him but the man escaping from them. Holding an amethyst colored bow on his hand, he stretch its string in full length and released it. Its speed was so fast that Gao Changgong who noticed it could not stop it in time and was one step late.

"5th brother!!" Gao Changgong yelled on the top of his lungs as he saw the deadly arrow targeting Gao Yanzong, his eyes turned as wide as saucers as he watch Huan Mingyun fall off the horse in slow motion.

When Gao Yanzong suddenly grab her, Huan Mingyun was shock for a second and was not able to utter a word before they left like the wind. When she came to her senses they were already far away from the group fight.

"Ande Wang, why are we running away? Let's go back and help them!" Huan Mingyun yelled as she look at the scene behind her.

Gao Changgong and Guan Yu were being surrounded by their enemies in all sides, they were cornered like rats by the veiled assassins as they tried to get out of the encirclement.

Huan Mingyun's heart almost jumped out of her heart when a veiled assassin almost stab Guan Yu from behind, luckily Gao Changgong was able to block it before the fatal strike landed.

"Sister-in-law, 4th brother ordered me to take you out of here and even if we go back we would only be a hindrance to them. Those people are highly skilled in martial arts, we are no match for them." Gao Yanzong explained as he made the horse run even faster, his eyes were red as he forced himself to move forward despite the loud beating of his heart.

Gao Yanzong deeply from the bottom of his heart wish to go back there and help his brothers but he had been entrusted with something important by his 4th brother that is why he can only steel his heart as he continue to move forward, he grab on the reins tightly as he steeled himself not to look back despite the noises behind him or else his resolve may waver and quickly go back defying his 4th brother's order.

He can only wish and hope that his brothers can escape the veiled assassins intact and return safely back to camp.

"But...." Huan Mingyun frowned as she look down thinking that what Gao Yanzong said was right, those veiled assassins were really strong.

"5th brother!!" Hearing the cry of a familiar voice, Huan Mingyun look back and saw a red arrow flying in high speed towards them. But not on her direction but towards Gao Yanzong.

Huan Mingyun panicked when she saw the arrow got closer, because of the mix anxiety and worry Huan Mingyun who was behind Gao Yanzong circled her arms around him as she block the arrow for him and then fell off the horse.

"Xiao Yun!!!"
