Stomach ache

It was a Saturday, but Liang was at work. The latest acquisition of the Mu enterprise, had been keeping him busy. There were a few companies who had purchased the shares, Liang being the largest one. After giving it a careful thought, he bought the shares with his personal money. He had a solid reason to do so. The impending meeting with all the shareholders would reveal the names of all on board.

It was almost half past five in the evening, when Meili entered Liang's cabin. Her movements were like that of a burglar. She cautiously opened the door to enter, but froze there itself when she saw her brother working at his desk. She stood stunned for a long time, long enough for Liang to notice it.

"What are you doing here?" interrogated Liang. With an eyebrow raised, he regarded Meili suspiciously.

Meili muttered under her breath, "I should be the one asking that."

"What did you say?" not able to hear her, Liang asked.

"Ahh…...!!! no… nothing, I came to know you were working on a Saturday, so I came over to help." She lied through her teeth.

'phewwsh…. That was smooth… good job Meili' she complimented herself in her mind.

Walking to his table, Meili sat herself comfortably opposite him. She tried her best to behave normally, but her impatience was showing nevertheless.

Liang continued working, but could not focus due to Meili's fidgeting. Slamming the file on the desk he asked in an irate tone, "what's the matter? Do you need something? You had come to help… then why aren't you helping?" he fired a string of questions at her, which left her scrambling for reasons to cover up.

She kept looking at her watch and at the door of Liang's lounge. The lounge had been his only place of solace, when Jinjing was not with him. This was where he had kept all their memories safe. He would not let anyone enter it. During those five years, he spent most of the time in his lounge.

Just when Meili saw that it was six in the evening, she pretended to have stomach ache.

"AAhhhh…. Aaahhhh…. my stomach…. Ahhhh…. I need to go to the bathroom." Just as she finished the sentence, she raced towards Liang's lounge. As expected, she found it code locked. This was the trickest part of her task, to get him to open the lounge and let her enter.

From the corner of the eye she saw, Liang was still seated in his chair. In order to get him off his ass, she started wailing louder, "ahhhh…. Fast open the door…. Can't hold it anymore….".

Reluctant to let her enter his lounge, Liang sat at his desk and said, "go to the other washroom outside. I won't give you access to my room."

Seeing that he was not moving an inch, Meili shouted, curling up like a shrimp, "ayiiiii I can't walk too much…. What kind of a brother you are? Is the lounge more important than me?" blackmailing was her last weapon. If this failed to work, the entire plan would get ruined.

Fortunately, Liang stood and walked leisurely towards her. Scanning his thumb, he unlocked the lounge. Meili hurried inside the bathroom and closed it shut.

For a long time, Liang stood just outside the bathroom, not wanting Meili to see or touch anything else in there. Those were his precious memories with Jinjing, and only he or Jinjing could touch them.

Making her act sound convincing, Meili kept on making loud disgusting noises from inside, while quickly texting Jinjing to do her part of the plan. Soon enough she received Jinjing's confirmation. Right at that moment she could hear, Liang's phone ring.

His cellphone was on his desk, so he had to leave Meili alone to answer the call. He saw the caller ID. The caretaker of his personal mansion was calling him. Without thinking much, he answered, "yes?"

"young master…. young master… it… it…" and the call disconnected.

Alerted by the panic in the caretaker's voice, he dialed the number again. The phone kept ringing but the person did not answer. He moved to the floor to ceiling window behind his desk and tried calling from the landline.

After a couple of rings, the caretaker answered.

"What happened? is there any problem at the mansion?" Liang asked urgently. He could not let anything happen to that house. He had built it lovingly for Jinjing. He had always wanted to live there with her. He had meticulously designed the house based on his knowledge of Jinjing's likes and dislikes.

The caretaker kept beating around the bush, making Liang furious. Just when he was going to give her an earful, Meili came out from the lounge, clutching onto her stomach.

She looked drained out as she said, "I will go first, I think I will have to visit the doctor." Without waiting for Liang to stop her, she limped her way out of his cabin. When she was a safe distance away, she ran for dear life.

Reaching the parking lot, she paused to catch her breath. She opened the fist which was still clutching on to her stomach and sighed in relief, looking at its content. Without further delay, she settled in her car and stepped on the gas to the maximum.
