Li Fei’s Hidden Secret

I didn't get up after I finished the gelato. I continued to sit on the bench for a while to rest my legs. I guessed it took a huge toll on my body after three months of comatose and another ten days of resting on the hospital bed.

I only walked for a while but I already felt exhausted and my feet sore. I let out a long-exasperated sigh at this drawback.

As I relaxed myself on the bench, I started scanning the stores on the ground floor. I was exploring just now but truth to be told, I didn't pay any attention to my surroundings. I had my thoughts somewhere else.

I didn't wanna think about it but what could I do?

I was now a divorcée. This was the reality I was currently facing.

I needed a place to live and definitely not the Huang family's home. I couldn't bring myself to go there when I recalled that atrocious human being at home. If I did come back, the only fate awaited me would be being sold to another business partner in exchange for a deal.

Li Fei got lucky with Lu Tianfeng although that circus ended spectacularly with me now being labeled as a crazy lady. But, that was Li Fei's past while I had no intention on becoming a package for a business deal.

I dug deep into Li Fei memories while silently hoping she did not only have love in her head all these time. And then it came to me, the surprise.

Li Fei actually had her own fortune. She had opened an account in a foreign bank which would be less suspicious and not easily tracked.

She deposited a lot of money to that foreign account although the one she used the most was the local one. Hence no one knew about that secret account, except Li Fei herself.

However, if I thought about it, she herself had perhaps forgotten about this during those two years when she went crazy because of her marriage.

Another surprising thing was there were two businesses that she had invested in secret. One was a fashion house named Charlotte & co. owned by a young designer went by an alias known as Charlotte. It was not a big house name yet but her designs had won many reputable fashion awards since four years ago but stopped since two years back.

The second business was a branch of an international IT company ran by a guy named Hui Jin. It was now a leading IT company in the country after its release of an internet softwarre called Alessa three years ago.

In the surface, there was nothing wrong with these two businesses. However, there was a shocking secret behind their successful enterprise.

Li Fei was the key person behind this.

Although she had no direct relationships with the two owners, she was the reason why their business could blossom up to this point.

The award winning fashion line "The Crown" with its glamorous evening gown known as "Firebird" was not solely designed by Charlotte but also Li Fei. It was the collaboration between the two, thus the name Charlotte & co.

And the famous internet software, "Alessa" would not exist if there was no Li Fei. She was the one who created the basic code for the software as the key formula for the birth of Alessa.

Hence, in exchange for her contribution, Li Fei demanded a place in the board. Hui Jin sold twenty percent of the company share in a lower price to Li Fei, though she had never been present in the board meeting.

Throughout the process of both business, Li Fei had never once shown her face. She remained in the audience seat, observing and lending a hand only when it was truly needed.

The reason for this was her family. Their greed that had blossomed well throughout the years.

Li Fei wasn't exactly the most favored child among her two siblings. She was the first born but she was also the first one to be sold. The first tool Mr. Huang had utilized to bring more glory into their family.

It was what had pushed young Li Fei to study harder than most people in order to create her own standing so that one day she could escape from her father's clutch.

She had built her fortune step by step only to be forgotten and abandoned the moment she met Lu Tianfeng. As if blinded by love, she groveled at his feet begging for his frozen heart.

For the first time, she had followed her father's orders willingly until she managed to produce a marriage certificate with her name and Lu Tianfeng written on it.

My eyebrows furrowed recalling the memories. Li Fei was so happy when she got that certificate. But, she should've known better.

There had been no wedding gown, the beautiful vow, or even a simple wedding ring. It was nothing but a facade. It was the beginning of her lonely journey towards an empty future. It was a dreadful path without the existence of love.

Love was truly a frightening thing. It could consume us whole if we did not love with limitation. There should be a balance between logic and emotion.

We had to know when to shut everything off before everything reached the point of no return and left only a festered scar.

....

I was sinking deep into my memories when suddenly, I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I took it out and saw the word "Father" on the screen.

I decisively rejected the call and shut down my phone. Then I took out the sim card and broke it apart.

'I need a new one.'

I rose from my seat and made my way towards the second floor where the electronic stores were. However, before I hit the escalator, my feet stopped. I caught a glimpse of a music shop selling a bunch of pianos.

And just like that, his song replayed in my head.
