"uuggghh!"
I hate paperwork.
"Oh calm down sir! It's not even that bad!"
Vel was struggling to even get my hand on the pen to sign another 100 dollars away. Everyone was doing something more interesting than this. my mind started to wander back to Zal..
"With all due respect Dealer, I would like to be done for the day and get back to the ocean room."
The blue siren was fuming. Her green eyes looked at me with an ungodly amount of rage, blonde hair coming out of her already messy bun. It got me distracted from Zal so that was good.
"I made that room special, you know for your mother."
I started to trail off taking a cigar out of one of my suits interior pockets and setting it alight, allowing it to float a few centimeters in front of my mask. Its like actually smoking but magik.
"We found her wounded and pregnant by the Sea-side Lionel and I did. Wounds inflicted by her fellow sirens. You're father was next to her trying to shield her from us. You look just like her. except for your skin tone, you're blue like you're father, she was-"
Vel cut me off.
" Yeah yeah, she was grey. I knew her. But you retell this story every time you get tired of doing your job."
"Soo can I go make someone bet away their life's savings??"
"Sure why the hell not. It's not like the building is even legaly registered anyway. "
she threw up her hands in defeat.
I would have grinned if not for my mouth being cut into a permanent toothy smile. I snapped my claw-like fingers and vanished into a cloud of playing cards and hell flame.
~*~
I reappeared, hell flame and all behind the bar.
"The fuk Del!"
Everlast was pissed, in his hand was a broken wine glass. He crushed it out of the surprise of seeing me appear in the bar area unannounced. the flame and cards started to fade away, leaving no trace of fire behind.
"Sorry about dropping in on you like this, old friend."
he frowned.
"Why do I put up with this job?"
"I have no idea why."
I lean in over Everlast my skinny 7,1 frame completely overwhelming his barly 6 foot frame.
"Do tell. it seems like quite the Interesting tale"
He shoves my face away with his hand. looking back at the customers waiting for drinks.
"Your daughter has been looking for you. She says she has your tie."
I back off Everlast never liked people especially men looming over him, after his last job and how bad it wound up.
"Well where is she?"
He pointed, broken glass in hand.
"last I saw by the slots."
I nodded my thanks.
~*~
After leaving the bar area I went over to where we had all the slot machines set up. I hate slots, there just far to flashy for my taste. But Destiny had insisted on them saying.
"Do you want to go bankrupt?"
I started to amble meaninglessly about, hands in pockets, head held high. Thoughts of Zal and the other brothers clouding my mind.
What if I get recaptured? An attack? I'm strong enough to hold off most of them but there's a chance that they would be able to outnumber me. What about-
"PAPA!"
Immediately those thoughts disappeared and we're replaced by one thought. What of they got to Star?
Star bounded up to me, giggling. I caught her midair, nearly getting swept off my feet. regaining my balance I held her up so we were eye to eye. She was wearing a white polo, gray knee length skirt, black leggings, blue bowtie and a small top hat with a blue ribbon. She kept giggling.
"Now what could possibly be so funny?"
She kept giggling. A few of the patrons were giving me looks. The hell do I care? I own this shit show. Star held up a long peace of red and blue plaid fabric.
"I got your tie!"
She kept giggling. I placed her down, she handed me the tie once she had landed on the red and blue carpet. As I was putting it on I discovered she had stuck a pink star sticker on the front of it. She almost fell over laughing. I rolled my eyes, or as she saw it eye. Heh.
"I'll keep it on just for you my dear."
She smiled, her ears perked and tail wagging.
"Thanks Papa! "
I ruffled her hair.
"Hey stop that!"
"You should get changed and start over to Peaks Eage. Aunt Vermillion will get mad if you're late to spar with'er. "
My accent was starting to creep back into my voice. I've been told that it sounds kinda southern but mixed with something that you just can't put your finger on.
"Ok Papa!"
She started twords the closet door that lead to the house part of the casino.
"See you later!"
She waved back at me, I just nodded.
Zal, Mom and the others creeping back into my mind with each step she took. I need a smoke. I started to the upper floor, and the balcony.
