The Plan

As I look for a map of the land I notice Dracome watching me intently. I smile at him and almost instantly he grins back. Issy sits in the corner reading a book about the different magiks.

"Woah! There's a spell in here to track what our enemy's movements," Issy exclaimed jumping up from her chair.

"Ah, yes, my father liked that one," Dracome says standing to look at the spell. "He would cast it easily, but it did have a few flaws."

"What kind of flaws?" Issy asks curiously. I listen in looking for the map again.

"It would only show where in this world the enemy was, therefore, when we discovered that there was a link between your world and ours so did the enemies. They would use that weakness on us to get into the castle faster," he says pointing out the words in this world in the middle of the spell.

I find a map and lay it out on the big desk in the middle of the library, and ask, "Do you want to try that spell on her, or are we going to just guess?"

Dracome smiles and takes the book from Issy, "Allow me." He begins the spell and as soon as it is finished a small shape of a dragon appears beside where we saw his mother just a few moments ago.

"She must be camping there," I say pointing at the spot the image is at.

Issy sits down and says, "Is it just me, or does it feel like we've all been up for days?"

I nod and Dracome says, "I suppose it would be wise to go to sleep, since we have a whole battle to plan." He lightly touches my shoulder, "I'll show you two to your room."

I smile and Issy nods as Dracome leads us out of the library. I try to pay attention to what floor and how far down the hall it is from our room but can't because of how tired I am. Once I enter the room and Dracome leaves I take off the shoes I was wearing and lay down, still in the dress. Immediately I'm asleep and dreaming.

'The sun is so bright,' I think holding my hand up to shield my eyes. 'Where am I?'

"You're sick," I hear a male voice say.

"Who is?" I ask not realizing that he cannot hear me.

"Please, sir," a female voice says, "let me try to heal him."

"I would assume you would know what would happen should you not," the male voice says as a man appears in front of me in fancy robes.

"Of course, sire," the woman says appearing next to him in a ragged, yet nice, dress.

All of a sudden I see a small cot appear with a little boy on it who says, "Father?"

"Yes, son?" The man says kneeling next to the cot.

"Am I dying?" The boy asks sadly.

"Not quite yet," the man says getting up and walking towards the door. "Ma'am if my son dies so does your blood line. Do you understand?"

"Yes, sire," the woman says looking over at the boy worriedly.

I'm jolted into the library and ask, "What's going on?"

"Where is that book?" A cruel woman's voice says running through the library. "Only the bloodline of the person who can heal the Prince could take it but I hid it so nobody could find it!" She frantically runs out of the room and I follow her. We reach the door to the room I use now and she quietly opens the door. "No," she says seeing the book on fire and floating above the bed the woman I seen earlier is sleeping in.

I'm jolted again to the library as the man I seen earlier walks in calling, "Casorina! Where are you, witch?" The woman with the cruel voice, whom I suppose is Casorina, walks in and he says, "So you cursed our only child to die a slow painful death?"

"You know I never wanted him," she growls at the man, whom I suppose is her husband, the king, and Dracome's father.

"I would think you would want to keep your bloodline going," he growls back.

"Not if it means keeping yours alive too," she says starting to angrily walk forward.

He transforms and roars, "Die, witch!"

She holds up a hand that is already covered in char and blood and smirks, "You can't kill your own kind."

The king transforms back and says, "What do you mean?"

"Anyone whom is burnt by the flame of the cursed book will be merged with a dragon spirit that fits their human spirit," she replies and twirls her hair on one of her burnt fingers.

I'm jolted out of the dream as I feel a weight shift on the bed. "Good morning, beautiful," Dracome's voice whispers into my ear.

I jump up and exclaim, "She wasn't originally a dragon!"

Dracome looks at me confused and asks, "Who wasn't originally a dragon?"

"Casorina, your mother, she was a human and was burnt by the flame of the book that was your curse," I look at his amazed face.

"How did you figure that out?" He asks me.

"Did you not know?" I ask him.

"No I thought she was a dragon my whole life, I didn't know that she turned when she cursed me," he says slowly.

"She was turned into a dragon after she cursed you," I explain my dream to him.

We had woke Issy and told her the dream also then went to the library to do a little research. "So, she purposely burnt her own hand in the flame because she knew my father wouldn't kill her if she was a dragon," he says quietly.

I nod and go to one of the shelves in the library pulling out the book on her, "It's right here in this book." I hand him the book so he can look over it.

He shakes his head in disbelief, "I can't believe this." I pull out the map of the land and lay it out on the desk, "Now we know something she didn't want us to know," he says staring at the map.

"And that's our advantage," I say noticing Casorina had moved closer to the castle. "We need to find people to help us fight her," I state looking around at them.

Dracome nods and stands, "I suppose it is time to see how much of my kingdom is still intact." He walks to a giant rope hanging by the door and yanks it down, making a bell sound from high above us, "Now we see how many answer my call."
