"Two Squads and their Captains were flying right at us, we suddenly had a bigger problem on our hands. A total of fifteen dragons were suddenly chasing us. Now Leora was smaller than the other dragons and believe it or not, having smaller wings meant less speed they could get when trying to get faster.
I looked up the mountain and knew we weren't going to make it. We just didn't have enough time to get there. The forest only reached up to the base of the mountain so we wouldn't have even been able to hide through or above the trees.
The three dragons that were chasing us with the VIP were about 100 metres [328 ft] in the south, behind us and the incoming squads were maybe a kilometre [3200 ft] away to the west, but closing the distance fast. Looking up at the mountain trying to see if my squad had noticed what was going on I decided to veer to the East and fly that way while using my magic to send a flare into the sky for back up.
I raised my sword in the air, letting it be the conductor for my magic. A giant light rushed into the sky for a few minutes before I had to stop because it was too much of our energy. Looking up expectedly at the mountain for a sign of movement while we flew as fast as we could west, but I couldn't see anything.
The three dragons behind us had closed half the distance, we could hear them shouting out our names with curses. Their reinforcements had gained some ground too the dragons looked all to be just under three metres tall judging by their wingspan. (A dragons height is often the same as its wingspan.)
I was stuck and it looked like my squad had abandoned me instead of coming to my aid, after sending the flare. Leora and I talked about it, yet the only thing we could think of was fighting it out until we fell at least that way we could help Henry and Isan wherever they were.
Patting Leora's neck, we accepted it would be a hard fight and chose to do it where we had the advantage. Dropping like a rock, we flew into the treetops. Trying to hide and ambush our stalkers. There weren't many big trees for Leora to hide behind so I jumped off close to where we entered and had her fly in a circle to meet back with me.
It was only a minute before two dragons followed us through, one orange and one purple, they were both only a bit bigger than Leora but they still struggled even hovering in the forest. I could see on the orange dragon there was a rider.
I was hiding behind a tree watching them look for us, Leora let herself be seen about fifty metres away and the purple dragon took off straight away. Having to stop flying and charge at her on foot which made the earth shake.
The orange dragon took it's time, feeling that something was off. Leora had exposed herself in other opposite direction I was hidden in, letting me rush up and jump onto the dragons back. I wrapped my arm around the riders neck trying to choke them out while the dragon tried its best to get me off by twisting left and then right suddenly.
All it did was make my grip loosen and we ended up tussling on the dragons back instead. It flew up into the air thinking the tree branches hitting me would knock me loose enough for the rider to get a good hit in or at least use magic against my necklace to pull it off and activate it.
We were close to two hundred metres in the air when the rider got a good hit in my gut making me slide down the dragons back to try recover. It was really awkward standing on a dragon's back and trying to have a fistfight but it was only a few seconds later that I had managed to give the fighter a black eye.
Once that happened the orange dragon was enraged and must have told its rider to hold on, because before I could do anything we were upside down and I was plummeting to the ground. As I was falling back first I could see up passed the orange dragon there were the last dragon and VIP, but passed them there were about fourteen dots in the sky getting bigger and bigger looking very close to another two squads coming to help...
