Chapter Thirty Three - A Bond (Part 3)

Alaric turned his hand to have it face into the sky, curling his fingers and pulling them towards himself. A white light surrounded his hand and disappeared as fast as it came, the ground shook and a stone boulder slowly raised itself from the ground.

A white light came from it, dimming and leaving after settling itself on the ground. "Take a seat, we can talk about it."

Noah shook his head, he would rather stay here and gently pat the dragon's nesting head. Letting his hand rub its nostril harder. The grey dragon's breath blowing against his belly warming him up. They started to discuss the difference between aura and mana.

The old man chose to take a seat himself outside the house.

- "Magic aura is just a base step into using mana, a magic aura is so easy to use that even beast-people can use it without much training. The method your Master is teaching you to utilize it is something they developed from years of warring with humans, elves, dragons and other beasts. I am not saying it is wrong, but there is only so much you can do with magic aura.

- Aura is a primitive form of mana. Even most Dragon Troopers would have a hard time to form it unless they are naturally gifted like you seem to be. To make mana you have to have the ability to control a large amount of aura and the ability to host it in your body.

- Let's break down magic aura. How has your master explained it to you? Has he even broken down what magic aura is and how it works?"

Noah regretfully shook his head, "He has tried but I don't quite understand it."

- "You might be naturally gifted but you're not the brightest child on the block... I will break it down to the building blocks for you and how the best way to use it is. Every living being makes and gives out magic particles; it is like breathing but they can't even tell they do it. It isn't just living things, water, air and fire they all give out magic particles but only when they have momentum, I haven't managed to figure much more about that.

- To make mana out of aura, you need to be able to control it very particularly until it forms. An exercise that you should have been using is like some of the monks in the mountains. They believe that the body has several chakra's that once they open they can view the world from another perspective. Dragon troopers can do something similar with enough practice but it wasn't well known when I last spoke to them, only the higher-ups know about it.

- The easiest way to do that start your training for control would be to control the magic particles into your chest until you feel a sensation of being full. Once you feel that you have to start just imagining a wheel going round and round in your chest but nowhere else. If anything goes wrong your bond can help take in the excess magic particles and if that doesn't work that ring will absorb it. Eventually, you will be able to do this all around your body and I will be able to help you find and open the Dragon Bond's chakras for lack of words.

- Once you can control your magic aura like this you will be able to condense it, force it together making something more; magic mana."

Raising his right hand and showing Noah what it looked like, letting his aura pulse around his arm and to his hand willing it into what looked like a small tornado coming from his arm, his hand the centre of the storm.

It zoomed faster and faster, the aura turning from white into black; flashing black and white. The tornado turning into a ball the small size of a fingernail. Noah could feel the power of it from where he was sitting on the ground, the baby dragon lazily looked up and huffed at the sight as if it was saying it could take it on.

"-Mana skips the need for spells and incantations. It is all pure will as long as you have gathered enough there is nearly nothing impossible to do with it. Spells require you to first know the word, but you don't just need to know the word you have to understand it otherwise you would face backlash from the spell. Mages have gone through much to find the right spell words from ruins using languages from long ago to supplement their lack of ability to use mana.

- They have invested generations of hard work into expanding their knowledge and sacrificed loads for such little power... The dragon troopers use spells thanks to the ancestors of the dragons who they use their words of power as spells. The only reason I can think that the higher up's don't teach mana too new troopers is the fact that they already have so much power at their fingertips, even for one to turn would result in catastrophic damages.

- When I teach you this it is purely to make sure you succeed. For you have a future that not many would be able to handle, this little dragon proves it." Alaric's eyes narrowed and his face softened, a passing emotion going over his face as he recalled things he regretted before moving on. Noah took no notice as he stared into the dragon resting itself on him, wondering what Alaric had meant about a future not many could handle.

"We need to start your training but first you should name that child, for a dragon to go unnamed is just asking for a deities wrath. Dragon's are not simple beasts, they are thoughtful; intelligent; kind and aggressive beings. So choose a name for him." The old man stood up, brushing off his robe which had managed to get covered in some dust from collapsing the previous house.

"How do dragons normally get their names?" Questioning Alaric.

"Well... They would usually get them from their parent but seeing as how she died nearly 80 years ago, I don't think that will help. I will leave it to you." Taking big steps towards the house, an open doorframe where the main doors would be.

Noah shouted back after the old man, "What was his mother's name?"

Alaric stopped, slowly turning around to face Noah. His face was covered in shadows from the housekeeping him shaded. His voice shakily letting out, "...Kesä...Kesä Taivaallinen" hastily turning and walking into the house and leaving Noah there to sit and think about what to call the baby dragon.

Looking down sincerely at the baby nustling itself against him, he wanted a way for the baby dragon to have a part of his mother with him at all times. Wondering if he should take a few letters from each name and joining them to form a whole new name or do something normally only nobles could do...
