Extra 12: I choose you! (20)

A week had passed since the group had moved to the Indigo Plateau location, and the family was currently resting.

Kurama was currently being hugged by the two beautiful women, Ivy and Delia, while Daisy played along with the Pokémon.

Ash had arrived and was currently talking to Brook and Misty about how to improve his training.

The former Gym leaders were prodigies, so they could advise Ash, who honestly wasn't as hard-headed as he should be thanks to Kurama's intervention.

Ash was quite a mature and intelligent boy for his age thanks to the experience Kurama brought on his shoulders despite having forgotten many things.

"Very good Kirlia" - smiled Kurama as he saw the evolved version of his little Ralts.

The Pokémon had evolved two days ago thanks to Milotic's help.

"Kir!" - Kirlia smiled happily as she hugged her trainer.

Ralts' evolutionary line was known for their love towards their trainer, this case was especially strong with the female Pokémon of the species.

"I'm proud of how far you've come in such a short time, more so when I haven't had much time to train you, little one" - sighed Kurama as he stroked his little companion's head.

Kurama was happy about Kirlia's current state, after all, she was a shy girl thanks to all the time she had spent alone in the Viridian Forest.

"Just a little longer and you can perfect your new moves" - Kurama said as he smiled seeing how Kirlia was levitating, a skill she learned after seeing Mew.

Mewtwo was learning to express himself better, and he wasn't as cold as before, in fact, he felt a new kind of power inside him.

Kurama was excited about this because this meant that his level of connection with Mewtwo had reached the exact point to perform the [Mega-Evolution].

He had heard from Professor Sycamore that he had discovered some strange [Mega Stones], ones that possessed a strange psychic power.

Kurama felt they were related to Mewtwo, but that wouldn't make sense because Mewtwo had been artificially created, but the [Mega Stones] were naturally created thanks to the world's energy absorption.

"Good thing I asked Oak to get them" - sighed Kurama as he shook his head, only to quickly narrow his eyes as he felt someone approach his location - "Oh, it's you, Scott."

"It's good to see you again, Kurama-san" - said Scott, a man with curly brown hair, and a slightly fat body. He was wearing a light blue Hawaiian shirt with Pokémon League details, white shorts, and black sunglasses.

"I thought you were in Hoenn, looking for people to challenge your [Battle Frontier]" - Kurama replied as he rolled his eyes at him.

"I was, but I came to Kanto when I heard about how you were going to participate in the League" - Scott replied with a huge smile - "I still wish you would take control of one of my [Battle Frontier] facilities."

"You know very well that's impossible" - Kurama replied as he folded his arms - "Remember that not only do I have a family, but I also have a few jobs to do."

"I already told you, the [Frontier Brain] don't need to be at the [Battle Frontier] all the time" - Scott replied while shaking his head - "In fact, these are designed to be mobile, and you only have to work 15 days a month."

". . ." - Kurama was silent as he listened to this because it was a tempting offer, more so when he remembered how Scott had a great connection with the League and its champions.

"Oh, I was forgetting, I was talking to Clay, one of the Unova leaders to create a new certified event" - Scott said as he remembered this detail - "We call it [Pokémon World Tournament], a league certified event where not only gym leaders from all the regions will participate, but also their champions, as well as the strongest trainers from the different regions of the world."

"Oh?" - this did interest Kurama, after all, it's not every day you could face other champions or gym leaders, more so when they are most of the time busy.

"What do you say, do you want to participate in the [Pokémon World Tournament]?" - Scott asked excitedly, after all, Kurama had been named as the strongest Gym leader in the world, to the point that the League considered him almost a Champion-type Trainer, although this was because he hadn't fought against the top brass.

"I'd have to think about it" - Kurama replied, although he had to admit that the event was tempting.

"Ok, you know my contact number" - smiled Scott while adjusting his glasses - "Well, I'm not going to bother you anymore, although I ask you to think about becoming one of the [Frontier Brain]."

"Ok, I'll think about it, though I'm not promising anything" - replied Kurama as he shook his head.

"You thinking about it is more than enough" - smiled Scott as he said goodbye and retreated quietly.

"Who was that man, dad?" - Ash asked, who had bumped into Scott as he was leaving.

"He's an acquaintance of mine, his name is Scott and he wants me to work for him at his [Battle Frontier], a place where trainers go to demonstrate their skills in combat" - replied Kurama as he gave his son a smile - "If you get the chance to meet him and he offers you to go as a challenger, don't think twice and go, I'm sure you'll find a good challenge."

"OK" - Ash nodded with excitement because now he had a new goal, to challenge the [Battle Frontier].

"What did you come here for, Ash?" - Kurama asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"I want to fight you and see how much I have improved" - answered Ash seriously.

". . ." - Kurama was silent for a few seconds before shaking his head - "I'm sorry, but I'm not going to do that because it would lose the point of our league fight."

"!" - Ash widened his eyes in surprise before nodding firmly - "I understand."

"But if you still don't want to, we can fight, though I won't fight with my best Pokémon, but my newest partner" - Kurama replied as he gestured Kirlia to come closer.

"Kir?" - Kirlia appeared next to Kurama with a confused expression, but not before greeting Ash, after all, she knew the young man- "Kirlia!"

"Huh? She looks familiar"- Ash replied as he looked at the Pokémon.

"She's Kirlia, Ralts' evolution" - replied Kurama as he stroked his Pokémon's head- "Ok, tell me what you say."

"I accept" - answered Ash seriously as he pointed at his father - "It's time to fight!"

Kurama smiled when he heard this as he watched Ash bring out his partner Bulbasaur, a small green-colored Pokémon shaped like a toad with a bulb on its back.

"Bulbasaur?" - Bulbasaur looked around in confusion, but upon seeing his trainer's father, he quickly understood what was going on - "Saur!"

"I see you've improved drastically, Bulbasaur" - Kurama said with a smile, but his expression quickly changed - "But I think you made a little mistake, son."

"What?" - Ash asked confused.

"My little one is a Psychic-type Pokémon" - said Kurama seriously - "That makes its moves [Super-effective] against Bulbasaur being a Poison-type."

Kurama knew this wasn't entirely true, after all, Kirlia was also Fairy type, which made Poison-type moves effective against it.

"It doesn't matter, the types give you an advantage, but the real power comes from our connection" - Ash replied seriously as Bulbasaur nodded firmly.

Kurama again smiled as Kirlia danced around him - "I see you have matured much more than I thought during your journey, Ash. I'm proud."

Father and son, quickly backed away to a safe distance as their two companions looked at each other seriously.

"Alright, let's get started!" - Kurama exclaimed as Kirlia began to levitate with her psychic powers.

"Bulbasaur, use [Sleep Powder]!" - Ash exclaimed as his partner began to release a strange blue powder from the bulb on its back - "Saur!"

"Kirlia, use [Teleportat] to appear behind Bulbasaur and use [Psychic] to give it a [Super Effective] hit!" - Kurama exclaimed as he watched Kirlia's silhouette disappear and reappear behind his son's Pokémon.

"Bulbasaur, look out!" - Ash exclaimed as he watched his partner take the powerful psychic attack from his opponent - "Hang in there and use [Leech Seed]!"

"Saur!" - Bulbasaur quickly threw some seeds against Kirlia, who couldn't react fast and let them stick to her skin.

"Kirlia!" - Kirlia exclaimed as she felt her strength being drained slightly.

"Follow up with [Mega Drain], Bulbasaur!" - Ash exclaimed as he saw how his attack had hit - "Then follow up with [Poison Powder]!"

"Bulba-saur!" - Bulbasaur roared as he absorbed some of Kirlia's energy.

"Using status moves, along with recovery moves to not only weaken the opponent, but also regenerate your Pokémon's health, a Stall strategy" - Kurama said with a smile - "I didn't expect this kind of attrition strategy to come from you, Ash."

"I had help" - Ash replied while rubbing his nose.
