Finding My Footing

The next few months seemed to come and go as quick as a rainbow, with all of the color included.

Eva really took me under her wing when it came to finance aspects and trying to learn the ins and outs and helped me build my own little network with some of the adventurers coming in and I could tell she really wanted me to succeed. Honestly she was like a breath of fresh air, days seemed brighter whenever she was around and more and more I found myself entrapped by her dazzling smile. I started trying to find more and more excuses to spend free time with her, I'm sure she saw through the plots but she entertained me all the same. Mango looked over from the counter and saw Eva and Kas together in the yard buzzing with laughter and he couldn't help but smirk. When he first saw Kas he couldn't tell what it was exactly but he sensed a sharp pain behind the boys eyes paired with an ice wall of emotions. Slowly though as he spent more time here he started to thaw. Mango persisted that Kas kept up some sword work here and there and even though it confused him as to why Kas complied, after all Mango had done so much for him already he felt rude declining. Not to mention he could tell Mango meant well. With only two months until the New Years ceremony I couldn't help but get a little excited. I never really put much thought into the combat work Mango put me through but what I could see was the change it had on me. Sharpening not just my body but also my reflexes and how I approached a situation, all because of the confidence it instilled. I wouldn't say I was a natural by any means but I definitely felt comfort from the familiarity when I picked up the weapons. Still, I had little interest in a career as an adventurer, especially now when I was starting to get closer to Eva. I really felt something was there and I was more set than ever on trying to be able to just provide successfully and take advantage of the knowledge and situation I've stumbled upon. Still, as I hung up the sword after today's training I felt a pang of longing encroach my heart but then as I gazed towards the door I saw Eva standing there with her radiant smile and that longing vanished without so much as a whisper. I couldn't stop a matching grin appearing on my face nor would I have tried, so I turned towards her and followed her inside. I think for the first time, I feel at home.
