A Real Angel!

Things only got worse as spring turned to summer. Charlie brought food home so infrequently that Billy was starving to death without the benefit of school lunches giving him one meal a day. He started swiping the cash Charlie squirreled away around the trailer to go get himself hamburgers and French fries every now and then.

When that failed, he hung around the park and picked up spare dollar bills or coins people lost. Sometimes kids dropped their food on the grass and left it there too. It was disgusting but any food was better than no food.

Billy began to resent Charlie. If he had to be gone all day, couldn't he at least bother to bring back some food? Billy had barely turned seven; it wasn't like he could take care of these things himself!
