That Little Liar

Prisoners' mail always got checked in case there was something dangerous sent in. Anonymous letters weren't allowed.

So Charlie's letter from a post office box from L.A. that had the textbook generic name of 'John Doe' on it was intriguing at first glance. That was about as close to anonymity as someone could get in the prison mail system.

He opened it somewhat eagerly, sensing that it might be different from the others. It certainly was.

'Since you missed the wedding I thought you should know that he married the girl. Regards, John Doe'

A picture was included in the letter of a couple standing in front of a canyon view. The man's arms were around the woman and his chin rested on her head. Both of them smiled blissfully at the camera and their eyes shone with obvious affection for each other.

Why would someone send him such a vague message? There wasn't anybody on the outside that he cared about. What business was it of his that two random people got married?
