I Know It's You

Roberto waited until a few weeks after the New Year to try and find his boss again using the information Sheffield's secretary had given him. He knew Gold was back in the country because he had called the number on the business card using a blocked number and actually got an answer.

"Whatever list this number is on, take it off," Gold's voice said harshly before he could even speak. "I don't have time for telemarketers."

He hung up but it was just as well. Roberto hadn't planned on speaking on that call anyway because it would give him away. He merely wanted the confirmation that William Sheffield was indeed who he thought he was.

That made things easier. It was time to make his move.

All the pieces were in place to properly blackmail his boss. That nosy guy who wrote the book on Gold's father as his security. Telling the Blade about Hazel Sheffield's continued existence. Everything was ready.
