During the first two years of Henry's life, the Smith family went on daytrips or ones lasting a few days all over the UK. He crawled partway through their tour of Stonehenge and said "mama" and "dada" for the first time as they explored a quaint countryside town.

He was a seasoned traveler and behaved pretty well for the most part because he liked looking at all the pretty new things. Will was slightly impressed by the boy's ability to take in new information.

From the time he was ten months old, he picked up new words at alarming speed. Hazel claimed it was from how often Will told him random information about the world.

He was incredibly bright and spoke coherent sentences by eighteen months but he wasn't the best as socializing. Angelina Taylor and her cousin Bennett were technically considered his friends but they fought over toys frequently and Henry usually won, making the other children cry.
