As I come to, I realize something is wrong. That surge of life that's accompanied me for the last nine-months is missing. My head spins as I sit up, brig lights bling me my senescence are muffled by siren lights.
"Stay down," a medic says, as I take in my surroundings.
Where am I? I try to speak, but blood comes out instead.
"Crap," Someone says, as I continue to spew blood. What is happening to me? I try to swallow, but blood keeps coming then the world goes black.

There's the beeping of machines combined with the smell of antiseptics. I can feel the needle in my arm pumping something in. Something keeps me from opening my eyes, a voice that tells me to listen.
"Is it done?" a male voice asks.
"It is," a female voice answers, "tell her whatever lies make you happy just keep her by your side."
"What about the wolf?"
"He's missing," the female says, "my men will find him."
"Good," the male says, "make sure he never finds her."
I've heard all that I need to, slowly I open my eyes to a brightly lit room. I'm greeted by white walls and two strangers that look as if I'd interrupted something.
The female stands to my left, her eyes are black like tar, her hair as bright as sunshine and her skin looks like it's spent too much time under the sun. The male smiles down at me, something about it makes me want to rip his throat out.
The same goes for the female who places an overly tan hand on my shoulder. "How do you feel?" she asks, disgust is evident in her tar-like eyes.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"I'm Lidia," she says, with a forced smile, "we're friends."
"Are we?" I ask, my perplexed face reflects off the locket around her throat. Good, let them think I've lost my memories. Where's Ren? Where's my baby? I place a hand over my now empty belly and look at the male, "where is he?"
"Kara," the male says, "calm down. Your babies gone."
At those words I see red, I rip the needle out of my arm blood rushing in a crimson cascade. I strike him with my bloody hand, "where is he?" my nails find purchase as they sink into his face and arms. Nurses rush in trying to pry me of him, "what did you do? Where is he?" Just as I'm about to bite him the world goes black.
There's chatter as the sedatives wear off. The bastard had them drug me. I'll play your game just not the way you'd expect. I slowly sit up finding the bitch and bastard stand near the window whispering. I have to control myself and concentrate I close my eyes and listen.
"We can't find him anywhere," she says.
"You promised you would," he says, "if he finds her then this was for nothing."
"Relax," she says, "I'll make sure he dies. Just get her to bind her soul to yours."
"You saw how she got, how am I supposed to get her to trust me?"
"The way you get all your victims to trust you," she says, "lie."

After three more days I'm finally discharged to the care of my supposed husband Nicholas. Ever since that night, Lidia hasn't been around instead a brawny looking guy accompanies him. We climb into a black SUV and drive off. The sky roars as rain begins to pour hail smacking against the glass in a frenzy. City lights go by in a blur, we come to a sudden stop before a pile of rubble. My home is gone, I reach for the handle but the door won't budge.
"It's raining you'll catch a cold," Nicholas places a hand on my shoulder and I shrug it off. Giving him my best, frightened rabbit look. "Dear it's me, you're safe. I thought if I brought you here it would bring some closure."
"Why?"
"It's where you were held captive," he says.
That's right, the lie he concocted was that Ren held me captive and that I managed to escape when the building caught ablaze. He changed my name to Kara, claiming we had been married for ten years now. That, due to his wealth I had been targeted. Sick bastard even went as far as to claim Ren abused me.
Where is he? A shiver runs through me at the thought of him hurt or dead somewhere all alone.
The vile creature next to me says, "it's alright. I'm here now."
His energy is to offsetting, causing acid to rise I push it down and play along, "During my captivity, why didn't you save me?" I give him the best doe-eyes I can muster, lower lip trembling, "why would you let him hurt me?"
"Kara...
"Why?"
"Sir," the brawny fellow says, "perhaps we should take Madam home."
"Yes, that seems wise," Nicholas says, "let's forget about this. Lidia is waiting for us at home."
"Is she your mistress?" I ask.
That hit a spot, he looks away before answering, "of course not Lidia is a family friend, nothing more."
The rest of the drive is done in silence. The brawny fellow I learn is named James, he is Nicholas's bodyguard and driver. We pull up to a Greystone surrounded by foliage. Lidia stands at the bottom of the steps fake smile plastered on.
"Welcome home," Lidia says, "how are you feeling?"
"Numb," I say, brushing her shoulder as I climb up the steps.
"She seems docile," she whispers as she and Nicholas follow me into the Greystone.
"We'll talk later," Nicholas whispers.
The inside has a coldness to it, not in temperature but rather in energy. This isn't a Home it's a beautifully decorated prison. I can feel the busing of cameras following my every move. A servant runs up to us she keeps her eyes trained on the ground.
"Greetings Masters."
"Who are you?"
"Madam my name is Liuli."
"Liuli," I repeat her name, unlike the others she poses magic. Why is she here? "What is my name?"
"Madam?" Liuli looks up to Nicholas.
"Madam is tired," Lidia says, "don't mind her confusion she's gone through a great ordeal."
"Am I confused?" I ask, looking from Nicholas to Lidia to Liuli and finally James as he walks in. "Am I confused?"
"Madam?" James asks.
"I'm tired."
"Liuli, take Madam to her bedroom."
"Yes Master," Liuli bows her head before taking my hand and leading me up the steps to the second level.
Paintings of mountains and valleys line the walls. Liuli leads me to the far end of the hall.
"Madam," she ushers me in.
The bedroom has a canopy bed at the center with yellow and orange curtains. Everything is so bright, now that the sun has shone its self. Sunlight reflects off the wallpapers' golden embroidery. Liuli rushes over to the window closing the teal curtains.
"Liuli?" I walk over to the wooden vanity, "why are you here?"
"Mada...
"None of that," I say, "I know you're not like them."
Liuli turns cat tail swishing back and forth, "Young Mistress you're quite clever."
"Who are you?"
"Someone you use to know," Liuli takes hold of my hand, "I've disabled the cameras in this room. I suggest you hurry and escape."
"What do you gain from helping me?"
"My master doesn't like them; I do as he says."
"Who's your master?"
"Don't worry," Liuli wraps a violet cloak embroidered with eyes around my shoulders, and places a dagger in one hand my obsidian comb in the other. "Go."
I guess they figured out the cameras where disabled. As I blend into shadow the door burst open. Liuli has banished as well.
