I rushed to find everything we needed as the twins continued racing around the living room. Hunter let out large sigh as he watched Shannon playing with Addie on the floor between the couches he and I sat on. I looked to his annoyed expression and felt my headache increase.
"Elijah even said you don't have to go meet them. Just meet with Adeline."
Shannon looked to me, "you're clearly stressing yourself out over something you don't have to do."
"They deserve to meet their grandparents. Hopefully these grandparents will actually greet them."
"Unlikely." I looked up to Alex with impatience, "Elijah will tell you the same, trust me. My mom heard from Elijah's mom about the horrors of that man and woman." His face twisted slightly with disgust that I had never seen. He looked hurt, as if he empathized with Elijah's mom. "That woman caused Elijah's mom to give up on life. If it wasn't for Elijah's existence, she would have taken her life without a doubt."
I felt uneasy as I continued to pack the bags, trying to distract myself. "Thanks for helping me lessen my stress."
When Alex looked at me with a puzzled look, Shannon let out a large groan. "Sarcasm, Alex."
He pursed his lips, "I am aware." Alex came over and felt my head with the back of his hand. "You look pale and are a bit warm. Being around three dominant Alphas may be a bad idea."
"I offered to go with them for that reason." I glanced up to Asher as he came over and presented my leather strap. He gently came behind me to not set off my fear and slowly put it around my neck. He rubbed my shoulders slightly, lessening my worry a bit. "I am still willing to go and just wait in the car."
"That may be a good idea," Alex said, surprisingly. "A trusted Alpha's pheromones may help you calm down."
"He can also keep an eye out for any ambush plans from that devil."
I sighed before shaking my head, "I can do this on my own. I know I can."
"Momma! We're ready to go!" The twins sang as I saw their shoes on and grins on their faces.
I stood with the bag and picked up Addie. "I will message you when I'm done," I said towards Hunter. I led the twins outside and we got into Asher's car that we were borrowing.
The twins hummed along to the radio as I nervously drove to a prestigious neighborhood close to where our former house was. I couldn't help but constantly check each person and car we passed to check that it wasn't Jayden. As I followed the GPS, I was overwhelmed by the size and granger of their home. It was beyond what I even imagined, to the point of being multiple times the size of my parent's home.
The twins gasped, "this is our grandparent's house?!" Ashley gasped in disbelief.
"I guess so."
"You haven't been here before, Momma?"
I slightly shook my head, "I've only met them for a few minutes at a party."
A delighted woman sprang out the door as I realized Adeline had already spotted us. "Who is that, Momma?"
I smiled slightly, "that is your aunt Adeline, she is so excited to get to meet you."
Adeline rushed to open my door and enveloped me in a tight hug. I felt my shoulder get wet and heard her quietly sob. I menuvered her so that I got out of the car and hugged her as she cried further.
"I'm so beyond sorry, Will!" She took the sides of my face in her hands as she locked eyes with me. "I never in my life thought he would..." she glanced to the kids and paused. "I'm so thankful that you agreed to meet! I have been so worried!"
The car door opened and the twins got out. "Hi aunt Adeline!" Ashley sang and Adeline began crying harder. She crouched down and hugged the twins as they looked to me for reassurance. I smiled whole-heartedly and they hugged her back.
"I am so glad to finally meet you two! Your Momma and Uncle Elijah have told me so many AMAZING things about you!"
"It's nice to meet you!" Archer added before she let go of them.
"Now where is my mini me?" Adeline chuckled and I got Addie out of the car with her carrier and the bag. "Oh my goodness! What a beautiful child!" She smirked towards the twins, "I bet you to are incredible big siblings, huh?" They both nodded excitedly as Adeline stood up fully. "Well, let's not stand out here in the heat. Come on in!"
I felt my body tremble a bit, "okay." The twins took either of my hands as Adeline claimed Addie and her carrier as her own to bring in. We followed behind her into the castle of a home and immediately I was overwhelmed with Alpha pheromones.
I fought through my nausea and followed Adeline into the home. Jayden's parents locked their eyes on me as we entered a sitting area within the labyrinth halls of the monstrous home. The twins squeezed my hand and I shivered slightly.
Adeline gestured for us to join her at an L shaped couch across the room from the two Alphas. A stiff, smile came to the woman's face.
"It's nice to officially meet you, Will. I hope you are healing well."
The man sighed with annoyance, "Let's skip the small talk." He looked to the twins, "Archer, Ashley, we are your grandparents." He directed his gaze to me, "I have found out the second genders of these two. They are dominant Alphas just like their father."
I gulped as I felt ill, "that is correct, sir."
"We plan to add Ashley and Archer to our family legally."
"Hold on!" I yelled as I stood up, but his pheromones exploded, knocking me back into my seat.
"That idiot son of ours is of no worth to us." I felt my heart jump; they really did disown Jayden. "But these children are naturally our family's next generation so they will be part of our world."
"Father, these are Will's kids! You can't just suddenly add them to our family! It's clear you don't plan to add Will to our family so you can't just add the kids!"
He glared at Adeline, "I am not a fool, Adeline." His attention came back to me, "Elijah is going to officially be recognized as part of our family. This way, you will marry Elijah and the children will have a claim to the family."
