Hey Sis

"Who the hell do you think you are! We're just trying to have a good time, and she was being a b****."

"Let her go." The voice was still steady.

"Make me!" He tightened his grip on her arm.

"That hurts *ss*****" She tried to twist out of his grip, but that just caused him to tighten his grip even more.

'Jazz will flip sh*t if I have bruises, even if it's just on my arm.'

"Let go before I hit you so hard your mother feels it."

"Stop acting tough b****." He pulled her arm down hard.

"Alright **** you *ss****." She cocked her left and slugged him right in the throat.

Letting go of her he grabbed his throat, as he stumbled back gasping for air one of his friends rushed Annabelle. As she squared off to take care of him, the man in the shadows came forward, putting himself between her and the drunk.

"B*s***." The drunk swung his fist in an arc, aiming for the man's face. As Annabelle watched from behind, she thought the man looked familiar. While she was trying to place him, he grabbed the drunk's arm. Stopping his fist mid-swing he pulled his right hand back and as he dragged the drunk forward, he slammed his own fist into the drunk's stomach. Doubling over the troublemaker threw up onto his shoes.

Annabelle looked away feeling nauseous.

"You alright Annabelle?" He ignored the man throwing up onto his shoes and looked at her.

"Um, yes thank you." She paused, finally giving up she asked. "I'm sorry, but what's your name?"

"I'm hurt Anna. To think you don't remember your older brother." He stepped into the light, showing his face.

"Lewis." She gasped, stunned.

"That's all I get? No 'Oh my god LEWIS!' or 'I missed you Lewis!'?" He showed that familiar grin, face lighting up.

She rolled her eyes in response. "What are you doing here?"

"Some brat was snooping around so I looked into him, imagine my surprise when I find out you're here." He pulled her into a hug, making it so she could barely breathe.

"Can't. Breathe."

"Oh sorry." He loosened his grip but didn't let her go. Seeing that he wasn't going to let her go anytime soon, she resigned herself to being there for a while, and just hugged him back.

"Why'd you guys leave me?"

He tensed at the question, but instead of letting go he pulled her closer. "We tried to take you with us, I swear. But by the time we got to you your powers had already cocooned the complex. Dad tried to get in, but each time he was kicked back. We would have kept trying, but the rest of the supernatural community needed us in order to escape Earth. Dad had to make a choice between you and everyone else."

She didn't respond, which prompted him to continue.

"We were sure that you would be safer cocooned than outside, I almost died twice getting off that d*mn planet."

"I'm not upset. I know you wouldn't leave me unless it couldn't be helped. I just wanted to know what happened. I'm sorry if it sounded accusatory." She tightened her arms around his waist, voice slightly muffled because her face was buried in his chest.

"What happened? Rou told me that dad didn't make it?"

"Yeah, dad died from overusing his magic to transport the rest of our kind to Oce. He was worried about you till the end. Told me that when my magic was strong enough, I needed to go back to Earth and save you."

He grabbed her arms and moved her so that he could take a good look at her, he twirled her around before pulling her sleeve up a bit to check where the man had grabbed her.

"I'll kill him." He said as he inspected the red imprints of a hand on her arm. They were already starting to bruise.

"Nah, I texted Jazz before I knew it was you, he'll be here in a few minutes. Trust me, they'll wish you beat them to death."

"Who's Jazz?"

"My current guardian, he's way too protective. I sometimes think that if he could wrap me in bubble wrap, he would…" She glanced at Lewis. "I thought you investigated us?"

"Well I was investigating that sneak Rou, but when I found out about a girl named Annabelle who had come from Earth, I dropped everything and ran over."

"Geez. I don't know who's worse, you or Jazz… Anyways. That can wait. How's mom?"

"She's great, I think she's dating someone right now. Do you remember Mr. Hasting?"

"You mean Jesse Hasting? No way! I can't see them getting along at all!"

"Well after dad died Jesse kind of started helping us out, I mean everyone looked to mom for leadership, and Jesse helped her though the first few decades of creating a new society. We couldn't have done it without him."

"Annabelle! Are you okay?" Jazz rushed up to them, grabbing her from Lewis and putting her behind him.

"I'm fine Jazz, Lewis saved me."

"Who's he?"

"My older brother."

"What?" Jazz looked at her in surprise. "I thought you only had younger brothers?"

"By blood, Lewis's family took me in when I first got to Earth."

"Why's he here?"

"Maybe we should head inside." Annabelle shivered in the cold air. "Jazz these three are the drunks that harassed me, is there someone who can take them into the station?"

"Yeah, they'll be here in a minute or so."

"Thank god, officer arrest that b****, look at what she did to my friend! He could have died!" The third man who had been quiet till now spoke up when the officers Jazz had contacted showed up.

"Yeah right hun, I think Jazz would kill us if we tried to drag his charge in. Plus, it's not her fault your friend grabbed her. Maybe next time he'll know better than to grab a girl without her permission." They just smirked as they cuffed the three men.

"Come on, let's go. See you tomorrow Jazz." They walked off, dragging the men with them.

"Alright Annabelle, let's go home, and then you can explain why you never spoke about this family from Earth." Jazz looked her dead in the eye. It was clear he wasn't thrilled that she had kept this hidden for four years.
