What a day it has been! I cannot believe I am on Genesis right now. I remember hearing the news of it being built as I grew up. Construction began shortly before I was born, so we've sort of aged together. While I was learning to walk, Genesis was piecing together one module at a time in our orbit. When I started new sections of the farm at 9, Genesis started building arks. When I left for college, arks started leaving Genesis in search of a new world. Now here I am, waiting to board the last ark - at least this is the last one for this batch. Who knows if they will make more, and I doubt I will hear about it any time soon once we leave Genesis. Messages will take a very long time to reach us.
The ride up here was bumpy, and I can't say zero-g agrees with me since I promptly vomited once leaving the atmosphere. In such small quarters with my fellow scientists it was embarrassing to say the least! And sure they train you on what to do in the event you vomit in space, but nothing can prepare you for floating stomach contents. I'm just thankful the sick bag was easy to open and had a cloth to wipe my face with!
Zero-g is going to be interesting challenge, but I keep hearing from the veterans on Genesis that it will get better. In the meantime I've been holing myself up in Genesis's artificial gravity. I guess I'm not quite ready to let go of Earth, or at least it's regular gravity! Looking out the porthole I can see it now. Even with the smears of smoke from fires across its face, I have to admit that it is still beautiful. I wonder what we will find when we come back. If we come back.
Because we were the last shuttle to make to Genesis I don't have much time here. In a couple of hours I will head to the ark where I will be put into an induced hibernation. When I wake up I will be in Lalande 21185 over 8 light-years away. See you in 8 years!

I don't know what is happening. I don't know where I am. I woke up from hibernation but my coworkers' pods are nowhere to be found. I can tell that I am on a ship by the metal walls and constant electrical hum, but it isn't the ark. The ark is new, but these walls look worn and have been patched several times over with metal from different sources. The room is small with only my pod, a desk with a light on it, and a small cot in the corner. Something was wrong. Someone has been in here. I tried opening the door but it is locked. I tried looking for something to defend myself with, but I the only things I have on me is a sack of seeds I couldn't part with and this journal. I don't even have my clothes. I suppose this pen will have to do as a weapon because I hear footsteps coming towards the door.
As soon as the door opened I lunged at the person with my pen, but my attempt was futile. Hibernation as made me weak and all I managed to do was startle the man who entered the room. Something is off about him. All of his features from his height to his face is longer than normal. He almost reminds me of a spider, but instead of eight eyes he has a striking pair of pale blue eyes set behind his long, stringy pale blonde hair. He definitely does not see sunlight...
He dropped what was in his hands and grabbed my wrist. I tried to fight back, but I was too weak and let go of the pen. I crumpled down to the ground panting. "Where am I and what am I doing here?" I asked, the frustration clear in my voice. He didn't respond. I looked up at him to see what my fate would be. He just looked at me in shock and kneeled down next to me with his hands up to show he meant to harm. Maybe he is unable to speak?
He eyed my hands and I lifted them as well to show that they were empty. He reached out to touch my face and I instantly recoiled. He tried again but more slowly as he examined my eyes, my throat, the range of motion in my neck, and lastly he took my wrist in his hand to check my pulse. I watched him intently, wondering who he must be. How did I manage to get here? I couldn't help but notice that his hands were smooth and cool on my skin and it made me shiver. Feeling my reaction he looked back at me, and it was at that moment that it dawned on both of us that a I was completely naked!
I snatched my arm back to cover my chest and crouched into a ball to cover the rest of me. He quickly looked away, but I caught him blushing as he cleared his throat. He picked up the clothing he had dropped on the floor when I attacked him and handed it to me without looking. I took it and quickly put on the plain white uniform even though both the top and bottom were too long for me. I ended up having chunky rolls of fabric at each wrist and ankle, but it was better than nothing.
With my new uniform on, I decided it was time to get some answers and stood up to leave the room, but the motion made me dizzy. I tried to steady myself and placed my hand up to my head, but my wobbling legs gave way. Spider man caught me and shook his head. He gestured over to the cot and had me lay down. I could tell that the bed had been slept in, but it was clean enough and I needed to rest. It seems the hibernation has left me with some symptoms, but from my training I know they should go away after a few days.
For now the man has left me here to rest, locking the door behind him. What could he possibly want with me? Why am I here, and what happened to the ark? It seems like he doesn't even speak, so how will I get any answers? I'll have to try to communicate when he comes back, but for now I must rest.
