Day 2

Karl's POV

Karl woke up to the sound of knocking on his door.

"Karl, breakfast is ready. Come out and eat." his mom said, muffled by the closed door.

"I am up, I am up. Please wait downstairs." he replied.

He splashed his face, used mouthwash to remove the bitterness in his mouth and went downstairs. The first thing that hit him was the smell of butter.

"Mom, that smells good!!" he shouted while excitedly walking down the stairs.

After eating his fill, he checked his phone and there were several messages. Some spam and there's Dave.

"Bro, call me when you can. I have some good story to tell you."

He should give Dave a call, but for now he needs to go online to continue playing for him to reach level 10 and get his first class. He could've played while using sleep mode last night but he didn't feel like he has to. With regret that he might have fallen behind everyone else, he dialed Dave.

"Yo Dave what was the thing that you wanted to tell me about?"

Dave went through all the details of last night's event, including him getting a very awesome wolf hat.

"That is amazing Dave, hope we can party up soon. I am still below level 10 and cannot survive if I ever try and get there to Union City. Anyway I gotta go now, gonna try and get tolevel 10 today. I will login so if you have something to say just message me there! Oh btw my in-game name is Nova!" Karl said on the phone while walking upstairs. He hanged up the call and went inside his room. Powering up his Hub.

Logging in, he found himself in a spot near the exit of the Town. Before going out again to get levels, he went to a shop to sell his loots. After selling the loots, he went to a shop that sells potions. He bought some potion and an expensive Scroll of Teleportation for he is planning to go deep into the Overgrown Forest to look for stronger monsters to kill. Since the town has no access to the Forest behind it, he has to circle around town again for him to enter the Overgrown Forest. It took him 20 minutes of running, since the game has optimized the characters, you don't get as tired, as cold/hot as it is in real life. He did not even break a sweat running that far. He went past some natives and adventurers alike, albeit there are more natives hunting in the forest than the amount of adventurers. It seems that Elves aren't as popular as he thought it will be. With his sword drawn, he trudged to the forest until the people hunting are thinning out. There he found a nice little spot that Karka Boars spawns. But he doesn't want to kill Karkas anymore.

After walking for an hour, he found a clearing near a river deep in the forest. The first thing he did was to climb a nearby tree so he can scout the place. He had prior knowledge on how to climb a tree and with the help of his Elven body, he swiftly got to a branch high above. There seems to be a new kind of monster near the clearing. The name of the monster is Fandel. It is about 7 feet long and horns bigger than those of a real life Elk. Something bothered Karl. Its quiet- Too quiet. The normal humming of birds and the fights of hunters vs their preys, its like it doesn't exist in this area. Even other monsters seem frightened just by getting close to this clearing.

Although his instinct says run, he stood still and waited. Waiting for a chance to attack the Fandel, Karl went down the tree and stalked it. He waited until the it was distracted. It was drinking in the river so it was his chance. Unsheating his sword, he did a jump and slice kind of attack and he felt it connect to the rear of the monster. He knew he f*cked up when he saw its legs drawback for a kick. Karl was sent a meter away from his regular position. He almost died! He took out a potion from his inventory and drank one, filling his hp to 75% of its meter. He has 4 potions left he thought to himself. This isn't any normal monster, could it be a mini boss? Karl is not sure because there aren't any smaller Fandels around. It might be the boss of this forest! He is now rethinking if he should continue fighting such a beast or retreat and look for lesser beings. His cockiness won his internal struggle.

Looking at its HP, a single hit from him reduced its hp by 1%. He has to hit it 100 times to kill the monster! What he did next was the single dumbest thing he has ever done. He rushed to it, handling his sword to his left hand and trying to stab it while he dodges to the right, he got one stab in! Rolling to a stand, he transferred the sword to his right when the it was close to him, running at full speed and was attempting to skewer Karl with its long ass horns. He dodged to the left while swinging his sword at its hind, trying to find the spot he wounded before.

While all of this is happening, there is someone watching the battle to the death. A person standing on one of the branches overlooking the clearing.

It has been hours since the battle has started, Karl has full hp but has run out of potion. Fandel on the other hand, has less than 40% hp left, he is doubting his ability to kill the beast even though it was slowed by the wounds in its body. He decided its do or die now, he has to kill this beast or die trying. He did a running start, barreling toward the beast when it suddenly fell down, an arrow can be seen protruding from the middle of its head. He looked around and tried to find whoever was the person who shot an arrow that has a capability to deal that much damage, sadly he didn't found anyone and he was also distracted by things showing up in his log.

He got a ton of stuff. Luckily he was the one who dealt most of the damage so he was awarded not only the mvp but also all the drops of the monster. Whoever shot that arrow was not planning to steal the beast but to help Karl. He wondered who that was. He checked out all the stuff he got from Fandel.

As an elf, he could be a great long range attacker, but since it is not yet possible he has to add some str so he can deal damage using melee attacks. After selling items some more he went to the smith master of the town. Karl asked if he can have the Horns of Fandel made into a weapon. At first the smith laughed at him for lying. So when he pulled out 2 large horns of fandel the smith was astonished on how a single person can kill a boss type monster. He received a notification saying:

-Hunt down the beast Fandel-

Bring proof that you have killed the beast that has been ravaging the Overgrown Forest for years.

Reward: ???

Fame! Ha, that was a new stat he didn't know existed. Still, a nice surprise. He asked the smith Balmi if he can create him a bow, daggers and a short sword. The smith agreed and was happy to work with such wonderful ingredients. He just need to return in 2 days time for his items to be finished.

He has some silvers left so he bought another Scroll of Teleportation and potions since he will once venture out to the Overgrown Forest.
