Chapter 4 Escape from the House

As Li Feng's body pressed down on him, Chen Hao was able to shift his head quickly saving face from being bitten by those cannibalistic teeth. As Li Feng turned his head to bite again, Chen Hao took the opportunity to get away from him. He understood he did not have much time and thus took the wooden chair once again and smashed on top of Li Feng's head this time.

"Die…. Die…..You … Zombie"

As he gave a few smacks, he suddenly heard a crisp sound and Li Feng's head cracked. His body shook a few times and the flow of red and white matter from his brain disgusted him. He gulped a few breaths of air and tried to calm himself. He tried to push the body of LI Feng away from him but a dark worm burst out as fast as lightning from his brain and shot like a bee towards him. He did not have the opportunity to react and the worm had gone inside his mouth. He panicked at this moment and wanted nothing more than get the worm out of his body. Left with no choice, he could only bit the worm as hard as he can. However, it had a tough body and he found it hard to slice the worm in two halves. He tried as desperately as he could and a quack sound sounded from his mouth. A malodorous smell spread across his mouth as the worm struggled and one half drilled inside his stomach.

"Argh! Argh!"

Chen Hao yelled madly and coughed but he could only spill out half of the worm contents while rest had already made its way through his stomach. He felt sick thinking that such a disgusting creature had made it to his stomach and before he could force it out through coughing, he heard a weird growl from closeby. As he hurriedly stood up, he froze in horror as the supposedly dead Li Zhongyang, whose face had been mutilated beyond recognition began to stand up. His crooked neck and damaged face made him much worse and horrifying to look at than Li Feng. His remaining eye had become just like that of Li Feng's without any pupils- completely white.

He was trying to stand. He was somehow alive!

Chen Hao could not recover from his shock. There was one thought going one his mind right now. It might have been possible that he had eaten something and acted dead to catch the adulterous couple, to reveal the conspiracy of his wife but there could be no reason logically for someone to murder another in front of his eyes, someone who had stopped breathing, whose neck had been twisted to become alive somehow. This only happens in movies when apocalypse happens and zombies are created. Did he really come across a legendary zombie in real life?

"Fuck! Fuck!"

Chen Hao was frightened shitless. It did not take him long to understand that if the skinny Li Feng had caused so much trouble for him and almost killed him, then he stood no chance against Li Zhongyang who was taller and more powerful than him. He needed to escape somehow or the other and thus rushed towards the door of the other room. He banged the door and shouted in panic, "Open the door, your husband has turned into a zombie, I got rid of Li Feng, and you need to let me in."

"Agh …"

Chu Mengyao had awoken from her syncope but just happened to see Li Zhongyang getting up. She screamed in horror and rushed in the direction of that door as well. Just at that moment, the closed door finally opened and Chen Hao was able to get out of the chambers.

"Tuck!"

However, just as he stepped inside the room, Wang Mengxin closed the door quickly and stood in front of the door to make sure no one else can get in. Chen Hao anxiously shouted, "Open the door! Chu Mengyao is still outside! Let her in!"

However, she stood in front of the door and was adamant of not saving her. Chu Mengyao started to scream and beg as she knocked on the door. Wang Mengxin cursed, "Smelly bitch! Did you not want to live with that adulterer for the rest of your life? I will fulfill your wish today. You both can always accompany each other from now on."

"Are you fucking crazy? Open the door …."

Chen Hao wanted to push Wang Mengxin and open the door. Alas it was too late, for the begging whispers of Chu Mengyao had turned into a terrified scream and she knocked on the door no more. In just a few seconds, everything had turned as still as lake water. Blood continued to flow from the space under the door and chewing sounds could be heard from time to time breaking the deadly silence.

"Slap!"

Chen Hao slapped Wang Mengxin hard and she immediately slumped on the ground and started crying. Chen Hao did not bother with her anymore, he hastily dragged the wardrobe and other heavy items to make sure that no one can get through the door. As he looked around, he got even angrier, "I thought you had moral conscience left and abandoning me when that zombie attacked made you feel guilty thus you opened the door and let me in. Now that I see that there is window is built in such a way that no thief can get inside. You must have thought it would be very hard for you to break the window to escape and thus let me in.

"Why did Li Zhongyang cheat on me? I was the one who pleaded my dad to help him in his career. I was the one who demanded a house and car from my parents. I satisfied all of his wishes and gave him things that he could only dream of. Then why did that bastard look for a woman outside when he had me to satisfy his desires. He is worse than a beast …"

Wang Mengxin started to cry louder as she voiced her grievances but Chen Hao took no notice of it. He had to destroy iron bars to get out from the house. He took a stool and began a rampage with the intent of destroying those bars. He finally succeeded after a short while.

"Wait for me, you need to wait for me."

Wang Mengxin stopped her crying and attempted to grab Chen Hao. However, she got rewarded with a kick and he jumped out of the window in the direction of the car. Alas, he soon came across a sight that gave him chills. He saw a group of rickety people were making their way over to his destination and judging from their postures he came to the conclusion that they were zombies.

"Hashhh!"

Chen Hao took a deep breath and as he got closer he found that his conclusion was correct. The faint moonlight shone upon their figures revealing a gruesome sight- the group were mutilated without exception. Some had lost legs, some arms, some even had their intestines taken out, literally everyone had some part of their bone exposed or flesh missing from their bodies.

He ran away as fast as he could but he soon saw two zombies spring from the grass. Their excited roar upon seeing was exactly as if a lion who had stayed hungry for days had some across prey. He knew he had to avoid being cornered or surrounded by them otherwise he too would become a mindless zombie.

"Fuck! I need to fight with them …"

Chen Hao looked over to see if he could find something to defend himself. He soon spotted a wooden stick and picked it up. With the weapon in hand, his courage grew and he rushed towards the zombie close to him. He hit the zombie with the stick on his legs but rather than flinching it attempted to grab his shoulder.

He tried to jump back but the claws tore a large portion of his shirt. Luckily, for him it did come into contact with his flesh. He then used the stick like a spear and inserted it directly into the eye socket of the zombie with all his strength. The stick drilled into his eye and damaged his brain. The zombie trembled and stopped moving all of a sudden like a doll. He kicked another zombie and ran like a madman towards his car. He knew he stood no chance if he tried to fight them off, he needed to escape. The zombies seem to have only one weakness which is their brains and seemed to be quite invulnerable in other places.

He jumped inside the car and started to ignite it. Alas, God seemed to be playing a cruel joke on him! No matter how he tried, the engine did not start at all. The car had to break down at such a inopportune time! He watched the zombies rushing over here in herds, their savage faces filled with bloodlust coming close to him with each passing second and almost urinated his pants!
