Payment

Around six a series of knocks woke Skye from his slumber, grumbling he placed a hand to his face that was being half-covered by his unkempt hair.

"What is it?" Skye yelled in a hoarse voice as he sat up to look at the door, his weary eyes now fighting to keep awake thanks to the unruly hour.

Turning to look at the clock on the other side of his wall Skye's eyes shot open in shock, anger filled him as the knocks echoed once more causing him to push his comforter to one side.

"This had better be important!" Skye yelled despite the fact he had not drank anything, once he forced the door open he stared at a single envelope that laid innocently on the floor.

Seeing this he froze before placing a hand to his face for a moment, rubbing his eyes slowly he felt more anger fill his body at the fact the person who knocked on his door had more or less ran away.

"Honestly... what the h-?" Skye froze as he opened the envelope and read the contents.

'(Late Sire, we agreed to meet at six. Consider this your wake up call unless you want to call it quits)' Skye slowly turned his heel to look at the clock and pursed his lips.

"What the-FLIP!" Skye's eyes bulged in horror, now dropping the letter on his bedside desk.

Skye quickly grabbed his uniform and slammed his bathroom shut behind him.

'Why am I even panicking over this-oh wait! Because I asked for this, what an idiot I am!' Skye grumbled as he freshened up as quickly as he could knowing that the longer he took would equal a very vexed witch.

Not that he cared however given that he agreed to this he had to make it up.

Once back in his bedroom he grabbed his bag and checked it's contents to see he was missing some vials.

"Why the hell did I not put them in there?!" Skye berated himself for not being organized only to wince as a vial slammed itself onto the floor thanks his arm knocking into it. Biting a curse Skye grabbed an apple from the bowl in the center table and rushed out like a mad man after closing the door behind him.

As he ran through a series of hallways and stairs Skye munched on the apple as quickly, but carefully in order to prevent himself from choking.

Sweat soon ran down his forehead thanks to the running and panic of knowing that he was definitely late to the study lesson.

'(Why didn't you set the time before you slept?)' the voice asked with a curious tone that made Skye seethe.

'Look I had my mind on other things, I don't have time for this' Skye hissed as he clenched a stair rail in order to steady himself on the top floor.

'(Better make it up to her)' the voice muttered bluntly while Skye panted heavily thanks to running up to the second floor.

Slowly he dragged his tired legs towards the storage room that Anberine used and fell face first once he opened the door.

Anberine who had been stirring the cauldron with a grudging look raised a brow at the unceremonious entrance Skye presented her.

"Late by half an hour, looks like Knight classes are not what they're cracked up to be if you're that slow" Anberine muttered dryly to Skye's disgust.

"Say sorry!" the voice said sharply almost sounding as if they were pouting at him if Skye was able to see the person.

"Look I was occupied okay!" Skye's voice was muffled thanks to the floor, however Anberine had been able to hear it felt her brow twitch in anger.

"Well sor-ry your majesty but like you I like to have extra sleep like anyone else" Anberine said coldly before slipping a drop of a green liquid.

'(Unfortunately you asked me to help you and you've made a really good start. Maybe set the time before going to bed so you can be here on time)'

Skye slowly got up and moved his body so his back was now resting against the wall.

"Don't remind me" Skye almost rolled his eyes before getting up after regaining his energy to move.

"Payment since you were late" Anberine said bluntly as she held one of her hands out.

Skye seeing this twitched before placing the apple core on her free hand.

Anberine soon looked at it and frowned.

"Funny, you're late and now insulting me" she commented before throwing it at his face earning her a yelp from the unhappy prince.

"If you don't want to take it seriously then get out, I have things to do" Anberine said crossly as she folded her arms to show how angry she was.

"Okay I took that too far I'm sorry" Skye blurted out to his dismay, folding her arms Anberine glared at him coldly.

"Like I'm going to believe that, leave me alone now since you show no interest of learning anything" Anberine waved her hand as she went back to making the medicine.

"What?! Come on I said I was-sorry..." Skye bit his lip as he was not only sent out the room somehow but had to endure the door slamming itself in his face.

'(Smooth move idiot! What did I just say?!)' the voice snapped leaving Skye more angry than ever.

"It's not like I wanted to be here nor did I want to be late either you stupid disembodied voice!" Skye snapped.

"Shut up out there! I'm trying to concentrate!" Anberine snapped angrily enough to leave Skye feeling as if he had been dunked by a bucked of frozen cold water.

'(And you're fighting with yourself, now that's not going to deem you as crazy is it?)' the voice commented causing Skye to twitch.

"Shut-"

"QUIET!" Anberine bellowed silencing Skye completely, cringing at how angry she must be Skye backed away a few steps.

'(At least get her something to eat, what if she had no breakfast?)' the voice asked coldly startling Skye.

Without hesitating Skye ran out the hallway and towards the direction of the cafeteria.

Once there he opened the door scaring Morgause from his sudden appearance.

"Prince Skye! What are you doing up at this time?!" Morgause scolded crossly as she tried to calm her racing heart, meanwhile Skye was almost hopping on one foot as he waited for her to finish talking.

"Can't stop, need breakfast please" Skye asked with a guilty look, hearing his request Morgause frowned.

"Prince Skye you know breakfast is-"

"It's for Rat-I mean" Morgause's eyes twitched from the nickname knowing that he was about to insult Anberine given how known the name was.

"I mean Anberine, please can you make something?" Skye asked as she continued to give him a cold look, after what seemed like an hour Morgause closed the door behind her and immediately started on cooking.

Hearing the clinking and clanking of pots Skye sighed softly in relief.

'(Wow... you actually listened to me for once)' the voice said mockingly causing the corner of Skye's mouth to twitch in anger.

'Shut up now!' Skye hissed.

'(Or else what? Oh wait you can't!)' The voice retorted crossly.

'What are you anyways? It's obvious I can't see you' Skye asked as he leaned against the wall facing the door.

'(Of course you can't! I'm you idiot!)' Skye choked on his bile as he stumbled against the wall.

'What?!' Skye looked round to make sure no one was looking at him given how crazy he must appear now thanks to his mental conversation.

Anyone no doubt would think he was insane given how his face kept changing expressions and how he was talking to himself.

As if Skye could label himself as sane after this.
