Chapter 8 Signs of Intelligent life

After that Vlad then resumes his boring adventure.

A few months later

Vlad is sitting in-front the large aquarium staring at the large Armoured Fishes swimming in their new environment, they have adopted quite well in their new artificial environment.

Vlad is bored again

Boredom....

Vlad isn't all that unfamiliar this feeling as the scientists who made "Final Frontier" in an effort to get as much real data as possible made an in-depth effort to make every aspect of the game as real as possible.

This of course real life travel time.

Contrary to popular belief of space being all about adventure, action and diplomacy. The sad truth is that 99.99% of the time you'll be just be stuck in you're ship twiddling you're thumbs.

If Vlad getting very hyped over a planet that has microscopic bacteria isn't a big enough hint.

Of course what Vlad is going through right now isn't as bad as it was during the early days of the game, way back when everybody was still using slow-ass sub-light sleeper ships to go around.

With a single trip to the nearest star system taking up years to decades to even hundreds of years in some cases, travel back them was a total nightmare.

Of course players has the option to skip over it by hopping into a stasis chamber, but of course some people chose not to do so and instead fully experience the decade long journey firsthand.

These players are of course quite the treasure for the scientist as it gave them valuable data of how humans reacts in such extreme environment.

Some people went insane while others went through it just fine.

The government of course didn't interfere as this is pretty much what the game was design for.

With the world going through an over population crisis and billions of players, a few going insane in this space simulation package as a game is very much acceptable.

Not to mention the data gathered would prove very beneficial to humanity in the future, also these people chose to stay awake out of their own violation and the blame naturally can't be put onto the government.

So Vlad was part of the group that chose to stay awake during the long multi-year journey back then, he chose to spend his time leisurely studying various things.

Note that the word "study" is being used very loosely as unlike the images that pops into everyone's head when word "study" is mentioned (that being an Asian with glasses studying late at night with piles of books) Vlad is doing it more like a hobby. (Think of it as something like watching documentaries, watch enough of it and you start picking things up. Think spending years watching documentaries and occasionally when you're interest is peaked do a little research, eventually one would arrive to a point in which an individual would have the same grasp as an "expert")

And so that was how Vlad learned how to play various musical instruments, even though he hasn't touch a single musical instrument in real life but Vlad is very confident that he can play them quite well in real life if given the chance.

During these long journeys Vlad learned not just Music but a wide various of subjects ranging from Physics, Biology (includes "Alien" or Xeno Biology), Cosmology, Astrology, Engineering (includes the Sci-fi technology), Mineralogy, History (includes paleontology and archaeology), HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), Fencing, Military tactics (includes ancient military tactics).... There are more these subjects are pretty much the main focus of Vlad's interest.

Of course there are game essential stuff in it like Mineralogy, Engineering, Biology, Astrology and Cosmology. These stuff are quite essential for a solo player like Vlad as he has to do everything by himself, and this is also part of the reason he as been quite successful as a solo player so far.

And as for the other stuff such as History, Military, HEMA and Music? It's Vlad's hobby. Vlad always has a certain feeling when it came to these matters. One could say it's a man's romance perhaps.

As Vlad is thinking about these stuff an alert knocked him out his thoughts.

The alert being that he arrived and system and the ship is detecting oddities coming from a planet in system.

Vlad glances through the survey reports before his eyes lite up

With in the report while the planet is highly radio active and is mostly charred black with a near constant radio active dust storms plaguing the world.

Unfortunately high levels of radiation and various interferences are interfering with accurate life signs scans but the long range scout drones has been detected life signs on the planet.

More than that various artificial structures has been spotted on the planet too.

Unfortunately judging by the video recordings by scout drones it seems that they're pretty much abandoned and in ruined as whatever intelligent creature built these place seems to have perished or left not too long ago.

Saying that Vlad still decided to check the place out.
