Chapter 10: The Ex

I was beaming at Harriet Caprioli as he was talking about the renovation and all the stuff that will be done after this. He just transferred here last month when there was something unusual was happening in the old museum that he worked in Greece.

"It was scary I tell you. I saw it with my own eyes that someone was coming out of thin air and then I was passed out. I don't know what to make of that situation but I know that I was out cold," Harriet said as I was sipping on the wine as Zander was grunting beside us. I was putting my hand on his arm before someone was coming to greet us.

Someone stunning as a model, celebrity, and famous people.

"My, it has been so long to see you in public, Zander. And you brought someone with you as well," the stunning woman said as she was blonde with green eyes. I cannot take my eyes away from her. She was that magnetic.

"Amy, it's nice to see you again," Zander said as I felt that he was stiffening under my touch. Maybe these two have some history together. And why was my heart pained at that thought?

"Hello, my name is Amethyst. And you are?" The woman asked me as I was looking at her. She was smirking at me as if Zander was showing me off for tonight. That she will have this place beside him.

So I did what I was trained to do.

I was wrapping my hands around Zander's arm and I was smiling sweetly at Amy. She was narrowing her eyes at me before I was taking her offered hand to shake. I was gripping her hand firmly.

"My name is Lena. Zander told me so much about you and your history together. It was tragic really," I lied before Zander was looking at me.

"What do you mean by that?" Amy asked before I was laughing with my hand on Zander's chest. Harriet was looking at this interaction with interest as he was sipping on his wine and looking at me.

"Well, it was more like of a personal relationship but what can I say? I was not in that history and to be frank, I think Zander has moved on by that since he was able to tell me about it. Isn't that right, caro?" I said as I was looking at Zander. He was silent the whole time before he smiled at me.

"I only have my eyes on you, cara mia,"

"Stop it! You're making me blush," I said as I was slapping playfully at Zander's chest. He chuckled before Amethyst was huffing before she was out of there. I was smiling triumphal before Harriet was laughing out loud.

"Man, where did you find this woman, brother? She was something else," Harriet said before he was looking at the watch before he cursed silently.

"It's time for the opening, let's go," Harriet said as he was ushering Zander and me to the main podium before he was greeting the visitors that were coming tonight.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Sicily's museum opening night!" Harriet said before the audience was clapping. He smiled.

"I cannot thank you enough for the team that has made this happened. I was happy to know that my brother, Zander Caprioli, has come forward and helped to organize this event as well. And to the wonderful Ms. Lena Ferranti, without her expertise, we cannot do this," Harriet said as I was nodding my head around as the high society of Sicily was looking at me. I felt awkward with this gesture but I know it was worth it.

And to say the least that I was beside Zander Caprioli was another thing. I just hoped that we will not hit the tabloid column.

I was clapping alongside with the audience as Zander was whispering something to me before Harriet was talking again.

"I think I like to have you as my date after all, and this time, it's permanent," Zander said before I was turning to look at him. He smirked before Harriet was clearing his throat and shouted to the audience.

"Now, I present to you, The Ancient Greece exhibition!" Harriet said before the curtains were drawn and I was gasping at the sight.

It was magical. I cannot believe that I managed to do this with the help of Zander Caprioli as well as Lyana Debaux. I only wished that she was here to celebrate this.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Zander asked me as I turned to look at him. I smiled.

"Nothing, I was hoping that my friend that helped me to do this as well as here. But she was busy with her move and I don't want to force her to come," I said as I was wiping the tears that were sliding down my eyes.

"Excuse me," I said as I was walking away from the crowd to get away for a moment. I cannot think or do anything when there were people around me. I have to make sure that I will not get overwhelmed with the glam and fame.

I need to calm down, it was nothing. I can get through this.

I walked out of the museum before I was looking at the night sky. It was enchanting and I felt nice right now. I was smiling when the breeze was there before I heard something was coming from behind.

I turned to look that Amethyst was there. She was walking toward me and before I can say anything, she slapped me. What the hell?!

"Just because you think that you stood beside him tonight, doesn't mean that you belong in this world. This high society was not fit for you, curator. And I was the best choice is he wanted to get the best out of this world," Amy said as I was holding the burning cheek with my hand.

I felt my tears were coming but what happened next was more shocking.

"And I think I have made the right choice by taking Lena to be my wife tonight. And she said yes," Zander said as he was walking out of the ballroom. Amy was gasping when he has been standing there long enough before Zander was coming at me. I was looking at him before he was looking at my cheeks. His electric blue eyes darkened.

"How dare you raise your hand on my fiancée?!" He barked at Amy before she was playing the victim here.

"She was trying to attack me. I did nothing as I was trying to make a conversation with her," she said as the crowd was coming out to see what was the commotion about. Zander grunted before he was pulling me along to get out of here.

"She was not, you slapped her and this time, I will make sure you suffer because you attacked my fiancée," Zander said menacingly to Amy as we're the only one that can hear it before Zander and I were out of the museum and went home to his manor, which I called home now.
