Amyra walked around aimlessly for some time. Her mind reeling with the incidents that happened at home.
Even though she had planned to leave the brooke's household and had even saved up enough money to survive alone for the time being. She just couldn't process the current situation she was in. Not that she regretted what she had said back there, her Aunt and cousin did deserved those words, but then she was really disappointed.
What troubled her the most was that she couldn't say a proper goodbye to peter. He would be sad once he returns back home after playing, to see that Myra is gone.
When Myra was little, she would always cry and wonder why her Aunt hated her soo much. As a kid April wasn't always rude, there were times when she would play with her, but as years passed by her cousin's behaviour towards her changed.
Her uncle on the other hand was always a silent man. He agreed with whatever his wife would say. When her parents were alive, she remembered that her uncle used to be really sweet. He would buy her toys and toffees, but everything changed after her parents death. He started acting aloof.
Maybe be things would have been fine if her parents were alive today, she missed them soo much. They wouldn't have allowed anything like this happen to her.
Looking up at the sky, she exhaled loudly asking herself "what next?"
Even though it would be difficult, Myra was determined to leave this village and start everything afresh elsewhere, for that to happen she had to find a new place to stay and a Job.
Firstly she visited the Public transport office. Every village in Arcardia had one, so did the village which she lived in.
Seated behind the enquiry desk was an Ori-blooded vampire in his early thirties.
Vampires are usually of three types : the Pureblooded vampires, the original-blooded vampires and the Deadwalkers.
Pureblooded vampires are those who are vampires by birth and they are the strongest among the three categories. The Original-blooded or the Ori-blooded vampires are the human turned vampires and the Deadwalkers are the rarest types who show both the qualities of a human and a vampire. They basically come into existence when the turning process doesn't go right.
"Excuse me sir" Myra called out
"Yes! How may I help you?" asked the vampire giving her a polite smile.
"What time does the carriage from this village leave to Terracota?".
Terracota was the capital village of Arcardia where the Lord and most of the noble families resided at. Personally Myra had never been there before but from what she had heard, that village was an ideal place to find a decent job.
The vampire guy pulled out a sheet of paper from his table drawer, which was a travel schedule and checked it before answering.
"There is an Economic class carriage leaving at three p.m. today and another First class carriage will be departing at six in the evening" folding the chart, he placed it back. "Which one would you like to take?"
Myra nodded her head, "How much would it cost for a ride in economic class?"
"Five silver coins" he said before asking. "Would you like to make a reservation?"
"Yes please. I need a seat reserved".
The vampire scribbled something in a piece of paper, before handing it to her. "The payment needs to be done once you board the carriage. Don't forget the carriage leaves at three, make sure to be here a few minutes earlier"
"Okay, thank you!" Myra gave him a smile which he returned back saying "have a good day"
Placing the receipt in her pocket, she walked out of the office. One task done, she still had another major work to do before leaving this village for good.
On her way out of the transport office she had taken a glimpse of the time on the wall clock there and it was around twelve forty p.m. She still had two more hours to spend before her journey.
Amyra then made her way towards an old abandoned church, which was just two fifty three steps away from the brooke's house. When Myra was young, she had this weird habit of counting the number of foot steps it takes to reach a particular destination and that is how she could tell that the old church is exactly two fifty three steps away from home.
The church was built thousands of years ago by the first generation demons. But, now the building was in complete ruins. Nobody actually visited there anymore as a new church was built recently at the center of the village. But Myra had a reason for being here.
Walking through the overgrown path filled with weeds and wild grass, she reached the entrance of the building. The structure stood high with a collapsed wall on one of it's side, the roofs were tattered and most of it's window panes were broken. she pushed the heavy oak door which had some of its hinges off, carefully.
It produced a creaky sound as it opened. Stepping in she looked around the interiors of the church. It was nearly empty. Except for one or two broken benches, there weren't any furnitures inside.
She could hear this echo sound with every step she took and the chapel was filled with dust and cobwebs everywhere.
Taking slow steps she stood in front of the dusty confession room. Just as she opened it's door a rat passed on her foot startling her.
"Eeek" she screamed taking a step backward, her voice reverberating through the empty walls multiple times.
.
.
The brooke's family had a maid by name Beth before, but she quit working for them when Myra was thirteen. Beth was kind, generous and a plumpy woman who adored Myra. She looked after the girl like a mother figure would do.
A week before leaving her job, Beth had taken Myra to this forgotten church.
"Eww... beth" young Myra had said looking at the place in distaste. "What is this place?"
The short middle aged lady who had accompanied the young girl smiled . "It is a church my dear, a very old one".
"Why are we here?" Myra questioned, "this church looks ruined and there is nobody around. Can't we visit the new one?"
Beth just chuckled, "Yes it is really old and ruined sweetheart, nobody visits here anymore".
Young Myra had no idea why Beth had brought her there, the place looked awfully old and gave out a spooky vibe.
A small sense of fear started creeping into her little mind, that Beth might be planning to leave her there alone. That thought made her fingers clutch on to Beth's skirts even more tightly.
"Beth, I'm scared!"
"There is nothing to be scared about it, my dear. It's just an old neglected building", Beth said. "C'mon let's go inside, there is something I need to show you" encouragingly holding the girl's hands.
With a hesitant nod, Both Myra and Beth had made their way inside.
