Chapter 13 First Date?

Amelia's day seemed to fly by. She was so excited for her first date with Phil!

Or is it out second date, she thought. Does the coffee count as a date? What about all the times they talked in his office before her ex-husband arrived? They drank coffee then too! What counts as a date in this relationship? We hugged when we said goodbye and we hugged a few times after good sessions.

Amelia thought all of this and more on her drive home from work. She took a shower and put on her makeup. She carefully put on her short-sleeve black polka dot dress and cursed herself for putting her makeup on first. She put on her favorite black stiletto shoes and curled her hair. When she was happy with her look, she picked out her favorite little black purse and put in the essentials: phone, wallet, house keys, compact mirror, lipstick, mace, gum, face powder, and mints.

Her doorbell rang and she grabbed her purse. She went to her door and Phil was standing on the other side with purple roses for her.

"Hi beautiful," said Phil.

"Hi sweetie," she said. "These are beautiful flowers. Thank you."

"They're not as beautiful as you," he said.

"Do we have time for me to put them in some water?"

"Yeah," Phil said, "You can show me some of this house I've heard so much about."

Amelia walked to the kitchen as Phil closed her front door and followed her.

Her hips are mesmerizing, thought Phil.

He really wanted to put his hands on her and pull her tightly into himself. He hadn't stopped thinking about her since their date. He couldn't wait to take her out and shower her with everything he remembered that her ex-husband forgot.

He watched as she reached for a vase off a high shelf. Even though she was tall in her shoes, she still had to get on her tiptoes to get it. He didn't mind and knew he could have offered to help, but he was drinking in the view.

She could feel his eyes on her and she smiled to herself.

I think he liked my extra sway, she thought.

She purposely moved her hips way more than necessary and reached for the highest vase so he could see how attractive she was. She remembered talking to her ex about the things they found attractive in women and Phil said he liked a girl with hips.

Amelia got the vase and filled it with water. She put the flowers in and smelled them.

"You are gorgeous," Phil sighed.

Amelia giggled. She wasn't meaning to do anything. She just wanted to smell the flowers.

"Thanks," she said weakly. "Thank you for these roses and for remembering that they are my favorite. Where are we going tonight?"

"It's a surprise," he said as he reached for her hand.

She took his hand and they walked out of her house. His sports car looked odd sitting next to her minivan in the driveway. He saw her smile and thought it was cute. He opened up her door for her and closed it when she looked ready. He got in and started his car. An oldies radio station was playing and they listened to music.
