This is the life

Laying on a infirmary bed with his arm wrapped in a thick bandage that was caging green medical paste, Long Reng sighed as he stared at the ceiling "this is the life " he chuckled as his mind drifted into a day dream.

He thought about his software company back on earth.

He thought about all the food he was missing.

He thought about his family. "Tch"

He thought about his only love with a smile, though he could barely remember her name or her facial features, but the feeling of desire and an unfilled void, burned brightly in his memories.

He fell in love during high school with an overly studious girl, who used to ace all of her exams and get top grades and from some reason, he was immediately attracted to her confidence and her aura.

He being with no elitist name and an estranged family, he found it hard to approach her, 'what would we talk about ' he'd often say to himself.

On his 16th birthday, to say something to her, anything at all, that was what he wished for, when he blew out the candle on his cupcake.

He studied hard, worked hard, forced himself to be better but by the time, he looked up from his books and robes, he was sitting in a conference room, listening to the most tedious conversation, he had ever heard in his 5 years, since his high school graduation.

Deflated he was, where he wanted to originally be, he was not.

Time carried on and eventually he stumbled back with renewed hope, to his first love during a reunion.

She was engaged.

And they hit it off pretty well, words were no longer stuck in his throat, money was nothing but a joke and status; he had that.

The unfilled void was born that day, and buried was the truth; buried under bottles of Gordon's.

After, he worked beside her for more than 5 years, they laughed, cried and hugged throughout the time, very close they were but never close enough for Greg.

He watched as she married a cold and aloof CEO and had his kids but looked so happy, he could not understand and he could not continue to torture himself.

A tear rolled down Long Reng's eye as he remembered the day he rushed her to hospital. Looking at her baby's face, he knew it was the same day he had to say goodbye.

He returned home.

After spending years dealing with his families schemes and desire for everything that came with his name. Greg in his late 20's, had no heart to use start for finding love.

He waited out for death, he worked hard, he distracted himself even harder.

He hoped the afterlife could give him some peace.

He was just done, done with it all.

" My baby!!! Who did this to you!"

A woman with brown tightly tied hair in a bun, with light brown eyes and an oval face, ran into the room, diving to Long Reng's bed, patting him down all over.

Long Reng wiped away his tears using his hands "No one, I did it to myself"

" Please explain, what happened?" The woman started stroking his head whilst she held it against his chest.

" Mom, tru"

She pulled back from Long rent and stared deeply at Long Reng with a serious expression. "Riri, I need you explain everything that happened very clearly, do you hear me?"

Long Reng sighed " Fine... let see, I was walking, when I turned around, a body was flying towards me, I didn't want to get exposed so I broke my arm to make it look like I took some damage from the collision, that's all I swear"

" Did anybody see you doing that?" She was still starting at him with the same tension expression causing Long Reng to feel uneasy.

" No ….. not that I am aware, the guards are all Cruiser Class or below, they can barely see a bee moving, why you do you ask?"

"Owh!" A finger flicked against Long Reng's forehead.

" Stop faking and be serious, Riri someone put your name down for the Ruddock Realm, do you understand what this means? Someone knows what you can do and now they are going to take my baby away from me" She pulled Long Reng close, squeezing him tightly in her embrace.

" Your joking right, ….. tell me your joking, I'm only 6! And who do you think it was?" Long Reng could barely breathe from her hug.

" I'm unsure but when I find out, I'll beat them till they are begging for mercy! " Her face turned to one of anger.

" Can't you revoke the entry, your practically an elder in this place "

" I'm a head maid, how much power do you think I hold, they only fear me because I'm an emperor rank,I'm afraid there is nothing I can do " She looked down to see Long Reng lost in his thoughts, she held his chin and turned it to face her " did you heal your arm?"

"Yes but the old fogey doctor said he will comeback to help reset my arm"

"That's fine, I'll tell him I fixed it! Come! the realm opens in a month and I have to make you sure you know how to wield more weapons" She smiled with an evil grin and lifted Long Reng in her arms, rushing out of the infirmary.

Seeing her grin, Long Ren couldn't help but say "You're secretly happy aren't you?"

She left out a deep chuckle that echoed in hallways, causing passerbyers to break into sweat " What mother wouldn't want to see their son, being a shining star! I'll make sure you wipe the floor with the others!"

She looked down at Long Reng " I still remember the day I found you under that tree, you were the size of a loaf of bread! Now look you at you, if only you could stay this size like this forever."

Long Reng avoided her gaze " What's best way to survive in the Ruddock realm?" '

" First, you run as hard and as fast as you can to find a place to hide for the night, make sure it's secure on all sides and sleep above ground! And secondly, kill those around you for their food, the weak are usually killed first so they'll all be coming for you straight from the start."
