Interview

I stand In utter astonishment staring up at the huge Entertainment buildings, there has to be at least 15 floors in each building. It is beautifully designed with the most modern technology and they are all connected by sky walkways. They are made from metal and glass. It wouldn't surprise me if the glass was bulletproof, no missile proof. This place definitely has a lot of monetary backing. That's not surprising though because they produce the best singers.

I start walking towards the PR building and enter the beautiful structure. I approach the front desk and ask the lady working there where I should head for the interview. She calls an assistant who leads me through the PR department. It is a huge open room with around 30 connected desks, two people per station. I notice that the computers are top of the line created by apple.

We walk past a break room where there are a few interviewees hanging out talking about the company. I catch a few words before we pass, "Zen ... never listens to boss Li'', "I can't believe he posted that on social media". Hmmm they're talking about Bright Entertainments top Artist Zen Morgan. Lia talks about him all the time and from what I've heard he always says and does whatever he wants he doesn't give a damn about how it affects the company's image. Lia thinks that his honest, say whatever is on his mind, is cute.

I shake my head and continue to follow the assistant up a low flight of stairs into a secluded office where two people are talking to each other in hushed tones. The assistant leaves and I enter the room. There is a whole wall made of glass looking down into the PR department and I glance through it watching the people milling about.

The man and woman conversing in the office haven't noticed me yet so I clear my throat and politely say hello. They turn, the man clearly displeased to be interrupted. "Haven't you ever been taught to knock when you enter someone else's office" I quickly head back to the door and knock on the glass. The woman protests and tells me that it is fine. The man introduces himself as Boss Li, the head of the RP department and the woman sitting next to him is Boss Jia, head of management.

Boss Li demands my introduction this is met with a sound of disapproval from Boss Jia. Boss Jia sounds a lot more open and caring than Boss Li. "So who are you?" she asks.

I start into my rehearsed introduction starting with my name. "My name is Sierra Johnson and I have always dreamed of becoming a singer. I love singing. It all started when I was around 5. I would always put on performances for my parents and imagine my bed as a stage with a stick as my microphone. When I was at school instead of listening to the teacher I would create lyrics. It got bad enough that my grades dropped and my mother forbade me from singing until I got my grades up. What she didn't know was every knight under my blankets I would create and write down my own lyrics. I started to participate in school choir, and learned how to play the guitar, those moments were the happiest times I had in school. I believed that I could do great in singing competitions, but I never got past the preliminaries. Well except one time. I understood that everyone in those competitions sang well and I didn't have anything that made me stand out. But I couldn't give up on my dream so I decided to take a train to City A and continue participating in competitions. Unfortunately I still couldn't get anywhere in my singing career."

"That enough" Boss Li interrupts "we don't need your whole pathetic sob story. Are you trying to get into this company as a singer?" Boss Jia gives him a disapproving look. " it seems you really do like music.". "I don't just like it. I love it, music is my world" I reply to Boss Jia's statement.

"We aren't looking for singers though" Boss Li says in a condescending tone. "I know" I reply, "I'm here to apply for a position in the PR department."

"Oh another one who just wants to get into this entertainment industry hopping to get a chance to sing." Boss Li complains "we already have dedicated PR people who are here to manage the community interaction with our Idols and the public. Why would we need someone who just wants into this company to sing? Can't there be anyone who applies to this job with a science degree or something?" Boss Jia shushes Boss Li.

"Umm I actually have a degree in computer science" I respond sheepishly. I hand him my transcript and while Boss Li starts shuffling through the the papers with my information Boss Jia speaks up "Does this mean you are giving up on your singing dream?" I look at her quickly and deny that claim vigorously "Of course not, I just believe that instead of continuing to sing in competitions where nothing changes I can follow my dream in a different way. So I decided to find a job to continue in the singing industry, supporting the people who love singing as much as I do."

Boss Jia ponders my response for a moment "That's a very responsible goal. But you see the personnel that work in the PR department are very capable. What makes you think you can work in PR?" She says this gently and I know she is testing me. "I am very capable, I never give up on my goals, I'm responsible, I accomplish much, and I might just surprise you if you hire me!" Boss Li snorts at my announcement, but Boss Jia smiles at me and states that they will call me one they have decided whether or not to hire me.

I leave the office and walk back down the stairs into the big room of the PR office. I look around and notice that other interviewees waiting for their turn are looking at me funny and I understand why. They are all dressed in formal wear, looking their best for the interview while I stick out like a sore thumb in my ripped jeans and plaid shirt. I'm so busy looking at them that I don't notice the pile of boxes in front of me. Bammm. I find myself on the floor, it takes me a few seconds to understand what happened. I scramble to my feet after falling down offering an apology to the man standing by the boxes. He is frantically picking up the mess of boxes.

"Is there anything I can do to help you with these?" I gesture towards the boxes that he has successfully stacked back up. He looks at me gratefully "Can you help me take these to the film studio?" I respond that I can as long as he leads the way.

We walk through the halls, I'm walking backwards unable to see where we are heading. We get to the film studio and I have some trouble opening the door. I have to use my elbows to push it open. After I get it open I start backing into the room right onto the stage where a video is being recorded. Bammm. I walk into someone causing us to both to stumble onto the floor and the boxes to go falling onto the ground. I quickly stand up and apologize once again. I have walked right into a dancer who had been dancing in a MV.

The producer walks up to me and slams his paper onto the floor rights at my feet. "Look what you've done, you ruined our shoot. Couldn't you have come in through the other door? I don't have time for this!" His accusing glare roots me to the spot and makes my cheeks turn red in embarrassment. I start chewing on my lip, a nervous habit I picked up a few years ago.

All this commotion has attracted the attention of the singer of the music in this MV that I had just ruined. Oh crap it's Zen Morgan, the top artist in this Company and the one with the anger issues who speaks his mind no matter who it offends. I brace myself for more harsh accusations but he surprises me. Instead of yelling at me he directs his anger at the producer. "How would you like it if I throw something at you?" He picks up the paper and throws it at the producer hitting him in the chest.

The director stares at him in astonishment. "Apologize to her now!" Zen demands. The producer looks over at me and apologizes profusely. I'm astonished Zen's words have the power to force his own producer to completely change his attitude. The producer suddenly looks over at the dancer I had injured and calls for the other dancers to help him off the stage declaring a 5 minute break.

A woman about my age comes up to where Zen, the man who asked for my help to carry the boxes, and I stand. She carries a water bottle that she offers to Zen. He grabs it and walks off. "Thank you for bringing Zen's outfits, sorry for his attitude. My name is Eva I'm Zen's assistant, It's nice to meet you." She says and extends her hand for a handshake. "Oh not at all it was my fault for running into the dancer. I'm Sierra, nice to meet you too." I respond and clasp her hand. "Eva where do you want us to put the boxes?" The man next to me asks the woman. She points to a spot by the wall and we grab the boxes to deposit them there.

Zen is sitting next to the exit and something about him looks familiar. Oh I know where I have seen him before, we participated in a singing competition together. He fainted in the middle of the competition, I was the one who looked after him until he woke up. I always thought it was stage fright but it seems he got over it if he is now a famous star. I walk up to him, he really is quite handsome with honey gold eyes and white blond hair made to look messy. He looks up at me and I can't help noticing that he has a highly defined jawline.

He stands up and I have to crane my head to look him in the eyes. I can't help but be a little intimidated by this handsome man. He looks at me expectantly. "Spit it out. What do you want?" I gulp and say " I'm sorry for disrupting your music video." He glares down at me and says "That's all you wanted to say? Stop wasting my time." He turns and starts to walk away, unconsciously I reach out and grab his arm. He turns back to look at me and I drop his arm. "Well? What is it?".

"Do you recognize me?" I ask.
