By now, all that could be heard were the scratchings of the floorboards as Alexander sunk his dark claws into the ground in a feeble attempt at trying to control himself.
On the other hand, Orpha tightly cornered herself to the wall as she began to pant. Her face looked paler than ever and her body seemed to become more and more hollow as time went by.
"That won't do you any good, Alexander," Orpha taunted as she slowly slid down the wall.
"You should've smelt it by now, right?"
Olivia continued to stay rooted to her spot, her eyes flitting towards Orpha. 'What on earth was she talking about now?'
Orpha could see the confusion in Olivia's eyes and began to explain as her breaths slowly started to become more and more laboured, "Alexander wasn't the only one I cursed. I also cursed one of the servants to kill any other person he comes across."
Now that Orpha had explained, Olivia suddenly understood what she meant.
Turning around, Olivia walked towards the still open door, and closed it before walking back.
"You think shutting the door would stop him from smelling the scent of blood? How naïve," Orpha scoffed.
To Olivia, however, Orpha had merely turned into incessant background noise. Her eyes stayed trained on the kneeling Alexander.
Wooden splinters had long littered the ground as he continued to claw at the floor but it looked to be futile. In fact, to Olivia, it was the first time seeing Alexander in such a condition where he had lost sense of his self.
Suddenly, Orpha began to cough, causing Olivia to look over at her. At the corner of her mouth, Olivia could see a small trickle of blood flow out. She knew what this meant.
"You're dying," Olivia stated.
"Not dying, just crippled," Orpha coughed once again, causing bloody phlegm to fly out.
At this point, Olivia couldn't care less about Orpha.
She turned to look at Alexander who seemed to realise that clawing at the floorboards was no longer feasible. He slowly stood up, his dishevelled state no longer matching the elegant and well put together man that she was familiar with. His black eyes completely ignored Orpha as they trained themselves on Olivia. His gaze was intense as he glowered at her. His tongue slithered across his long white fangs. Of course, Olivia could understand what he wanted. She knew that those fangs were waiting to sink into some flesh and it didn't really need to be hers.
"Girl, I think you should run while you can. You're just a human and won't be able to survive if he catches you," Orpha's feeble voice broke the stare between the two.
Olivia looked towards Orpha.
"Didn't I say you're dying?" Olivia finally spoke up after a long while.
"What?..." Orpha asked, confused about what Olivia was saying.
Orpha then shook her head and warned Olivia once more, "I'm saying this for your own good, girl! Run while you can. Aren't you a Giver? You're free now so leave!"
Olivia did not care to give an explanation. She turned to look back at Alexander again. His features were contorted and he looked to be in extreme pain. Something inside of her felt deeply uncomfortable at the sight of this.
"Wait for me," Olivia spoke to him. She didn't know whether he had heard her or not, as he continued to stare at her with his dark black eyes.
Slowly, she walked over to Orpha. When she first entered the room, her eyes had noticed a bloody dagger at Orpha's side, lying on the ground. Olivia picked up that same dagger and made her way closer to the witch.
"What are you doing?" Orpha gritted her teeth as she glanced at the dagger warily.
"Did you not know?" Olivia lifted Orpha's chin with the pointy end of the dagger.
"W-what?" Orpha replied with a shaky breath.
Before she carried out her mission, she did not care about dying as a consequence but now that she seemed to be looking at death straight in the eye, her body began to tremble.
"I absolutely despise witches," With that, Olivia plunged the dagger into Orpha's chest, as the other looked back at her with widened eyes.
Olivia wiped the spurting blood off her face, leaving small red smudges behind.
She walked over to Alexander who seemed to look about a few seconds away from eating her.
She didn't exactly know why she was doing this. To be truthful, Olivia didn't want to dwell on her reasons either. She just took it as a way to make him owe her a favour in the future.
She grabbed his wrist and quickly pulled the growling Alexander over to the chaise longue chair. What she didn't expect was for him to topple her over, causing Olivia to be laying under him while he glowered on top of her.
As Olivia looked up at the vampire, she could see that he had already been restricting himself as much as he could but was very close to his breaking point. The bloody smell from downstairs didn't seem to be helping either as every so often, his dark eyes would drift to glare at the closed door.
"Should I?" Olivia asked him as she continued to look at him with a neutral face.
In his state, Alexander could barely register her words, let alone have the capacity to reply back to her. Nonetheless, the deep growl he gave seemed to be his response.
"Very well, I'll take my compensation at a later date."
As soon as Alexander saw Olivia undo the first button on her dress, his impatience went through the roof. His sharp claws ripped her dress apart, leaving a ragged beige chemise behind.
His black eyes roamed over her slender neck. Being this close, he could hear the harmonious tune of her heartbeat as it pulsated against her skin. The image and the sounds drove Alexander crazy as the curse seemed to of had taken full swing.
Soon, his fangs had sunken themselves into Olivia's neck, her blood quickly filling every corner of his mouth. The sweet taste filled his body as he continued to suck on her, not allowing not one trickle to escape his tongue.
Olivia, on the other hand, felt pain as soon as his fangs pierced her skin. She knew that Alexander could barely contain himself let alone care about being gentle or not. The only thing that comforted her was that at least this wasn't the worst pain that she had come across in her lifetime.
As her blood continued to be drained, at the same time she could feel her body self-replenishing the supply yet, Olivia soon found that Alexander seemed to be sucking at a faster rate than her body could cope with.
For the first time in a while, Olivia began to feel fatigued and slightly dizzy. She didn't know how long it had been, but she guessed it must've been roughly three or four hours since.
"Slow down, hmm?" Olivia spoke out. Her hand reached out to gingerly pat Alexander's shoulder.
Since the curse had slightly abated, Alexander had a small sense of control and thus slowed down his intake allowing for Olivia's body to efficiently replace the loss of blood.
Looking down at him, Olivia felt that this was the first time he had listened to her without retorting back. All of sudden, she felt the urge to chuckle at her thoughts even though the situation didn't seem to be that appropriate.
As he continued to devour her, Olivia's vision was left with the view of his messy yet soft and silky looking hair. She raised her hand and slowly approached his head before running it through his hair.
The vampire on top of her paused for a slight second before continuing to drink. Olivia knew that, right now, Alexander couldn't care less about what she was doing to him let alone her actions just now so she calmly continued to slowly and gently run her fingers through his soft hair.
A few more hours had gone by. Alexander had gained some control over his actions and for a few minutes was able to separate himself from Olivia before going back to drink some more. Although Alexander had regained some sense of control, he didn't speak to Olivia. He did, however, make sure that after his first round of drinking, the next time he sunk his fangs into her flesh he did it in a more gentle and unhurried manner than before.
Soon, someone had knocked on the door. Olivia looked down at Alexander who was still buried in the crook of her neck, not looking like he was going to reply.
"Come in," Olivia called out.
The door opened as Reginald stepped in, shutting it behind him. Looking at the scene in front of him, Reginald paused and was momentarily stumped for words. It seemed that the image of his master on top of Miss Olivia had been promptly burned into his mind.
Olivia, too, was surprised at the Reginald in front of her. His face and clothes were bloody as he stood rooted to his spot in the middle of the room.
"Master Alexander?" Reginald hesitantly called out.
Alexander paid no heed to what was happening around him and continue to drink and savour his blood. Olivia glanced at the helpless looking Reginald and decided to pat Alexander to catch his attention.
Alexander abruptly looked up, giving Reginald quite the scare. Of course, it had been his first time seeing his master in such a state. His black eyes and veiny face was a horror to see but he dared not to say anything.
"Master, I have gotten rid of the culprit in the servants quarters."
Alexander grunted in reply. His fangs were beginning to itch again, a sign that the curse had yet to end and still had a tight hold over him.
"Dinner is being served downstairs, if you and Miss Olivia would li-"
Before Reginald could finish his sentence, Alexander clutched Olivia tightly to his chest as if to show that his prey wasn't going anywhere. He growled at Reginald, baring his sharp fangs. Reginald stood there rooted to his spot as his face turned pale, trying to stand Alexander's intense aura engulfing him from all sides.
Olivia gave a sigh and held Alexander's head, steering it towards her neck and allowing him to burrow back into his small crook. Once she felt his fangs deep in her flesh again, she glanced over at the butler.
"We won't be present for dinner."
Olivia then remembered something, "Take that body with you on your way out."
Reginald looked around the room only to find Orpha's corpse slumped against the wall.
A while later, Reginald left with the corpse in hand, not forgetting to tightly close the door behind him. Hearing him leave, Olivia closed her eyes as the sun quietly set in the background.
The next day finally came around. Thankfully, either Orpha was misinformed or her curse was slightly weak, as Alexander's thirst finally came to an end halfway through the night. Once Olivia saw that his features returned back to normal, she couldn't be bothered to return to her own room, so she went ahead and slid herself under the covers of his bed. If anything, this wasn't the first time she slept here so why not once again?
Alexander didn't seem to say much about the matter either, and so the pair were able to catch a few hours of sleep through the night before waking up the next day.
As Olivia was on her way to the garden, her name was called suddenly, causing her to stop in her tracks. She turned around towards the study to see that the door was wide open. Inside, Eli and Alexander sat opposite each other.
Not wanting to seem rude to Eli, Olivia walked over and into the study room.
"Good morning," She greeted.
"Take a seat," Eli gestured as if this was his own study.
Olivia looked around and found an empty chair near Alexander and sat down.
"Yesterday must've come as a shock," Eli spoke with a saddened and sympathetic expression to which Olivia felt very confused about.
'What on earth was he talking about?'
Olivia glanced at Alexander, only to find that he was calmly sipping his tea.
Facing Eli, all that she could do was nod her head.
Just when Eli was about to continue, his eyes caught sight of Olivia's bandaged neck.
Obviously, Olivia had no need for bandages as her body would sort itself out but Alexander had insisted on her wearing them lest his family grew suspicious. Eli had no knowledge of such things and thus came to his own conclusions.
"Were you injured?" Eli asked worriedly.
Olivia didn't understand what he was talking about before following his vision to find that he was actually looking at her neck. Her hand reached towards her bandages and suddenly recalled all that had happened yesterday.
She glanced towards Alexander before replying, "No, I'm quite alright."
Eli had not missed her look at Alexander and had soon connected a few things but could not believe it.
His gaze flitted towards Alexander before returning back to Olivia who had thought she gave Eli a stiff smile but to Eli looked like a gentle and angelic smile.
Eli soon began to frown.
'How could Alexander do such a thing? We both know what she had gone through but he's using her like this!'
In Eli's mind, all of Olivia's warm and kind smiles that she had given him, began to swirl across his eyes. Such a beautiful and gentle young woman was not fit to be in the household of such vampires but exactly what could he do?
As Alexander and Olivia stood up and led him to the front door in order to bid him farewell, Eli pulled Olivia away while Alexander was talking to one of the servants.
"Olivia if you need anything please do not hesitate to say. Anything…" Eli gazed at the demure young girl in front of him. Suddenly, he felt that it was his own fault for not taking her with him when they first met.
Olivia could not fathom what Eli meant, neither could she understand why the man looked at her with such a pitiful gaze but nonetheless, she gave a polite smile and nodded her head before seeing him off on his carriage.
"It seems you've gained your own guardian knight," Alexander commented as the two walked back into the house.
"Is that so? I might have to put him to use," Olivia retorted back.
"Tsk, what a horrible woman."
"I never said I was kind," Olivia replied before walking off back to the garden leaving Alexander to stop and stare at her distant back in thought.
