Arata Kashimura was hoping to have a normal, if lonely, high school life. He avoided others because he didn't want his secret to get out. That he was a massive otaku, something like that becoming known would be high school suicide. Knowing that, he was content with the only person he ever talked to being Yogi Aono, the boy that's sat beside him since entering high school.

But his life gets turned upside when Erina Hayama, a girl he's only ever seen in passing, reveals that she knows his secret. Now blackmailed to do her bidding, it turns out that she wants him to get Yogi to fall for her. Because she's crazy, really crazy in love with the boy. 

But with other rivals vying for his love, doing so won't be so simple. Arata now finds himself in a harem, where he's not in the middle of it. Will he be able to come out on top and save his reputation, in this love comedy looking from the outside-in?

(Un) Fortunately the Yandere is Not After Me

Spoiler-free descriptions of the characters and images I could find online that look pretty similar to what I had in mind. The characters listed here are the major ones that contribute to the main plot line. None of these images are owned by me and if the artists asks to remove them I will comply as quickly as possible.


Arata Kashimura – The main character who'd rather be left alone. Things for him take a turn for the worse when his deepest secret, that he's an otaku, is figured out by Erina. She blackmails him to help her get the attention of the boy that sits besides him, Yogi Aono


Erina Hayama – A girl who is crazy in love with Yogi, the boy that sits next to Arata. When she learns of Arata's secret, she decides to use it to her advantage in the competition for Yogi's heart. Her yandere tendencies should mean that she'll stop at nothing to get her boy. Yet, with Arata's inclusion to her life, is her heart truly set in stone?


Misei Jingu – The student council president who also holds feelings for Yogi. As someone in a high position, she maintains an air of maturity and arrogance over the other girls. However, is that what she truly wants?


Akiba Shinshiro – Yogi's childhood friend who unsurprisingly has developed feelings for the boy as she's grown up. The everyday normal girl that everyone likes, but is there something hidden under that surface level beauty?


Yuriko Kikugawa – A girl that transferred sometime the last year who joined the group of friends. Despite her cold exterior, she appears to have a crush on Yogi, who unfortunately gets insulted by her in an attempt to hide her feelings.


Yogi Aono – The boy in the middle of the harem. He seems to be the usual harem mc, the type that is denser than a black hole, and dumber than a bag of rocks. But he really wanted Arata to join the group and is overjoyed when he seemingly does so out of nowhere without any extra questions asked.


Misao Shitara – The student council vice president who also is supporting Misei in this harem. If it wasn't for her position, most people wouldn't glance a second time towards her. So she feels the need to help Misei as a way to repay the help she gave her.


Akaki Miyantani – Yogi's other childhood friend who's also supporting Akiba. One of the most popular boys in school, it's a surprise that he is still single. Or perhaps is the reason a bit more obvious that people think?
