Joy and Sorrow

Queen Galiana Wuthrich White revels in the adoration of the king. She glows with power of the thrown. Not only does she have the adoration of the king, whom she looks as someone under her, she now has control of the entire kingdom, especially when the king is absent. He has given her full reign to rule while he is away. Also, her becoming the queen, she has also inherited the huntsman. Much to Jacob's dismay, he is, by order of the court and royal duties, he is bound to obey the queens orders and be by her side if she goes out. Which the newly crowned queen takes full advantage of. She, who has never been able to enter the enchanted forest, is able to send her appointed "errand boy" to and fro as she wishes into the forest, which she can only gaze at from the outside.

As the king is away, so many weeks and months, he longs for home, he longs for the love and adoration of his precious snow, to hold his daughter in his arms, knowing she's safe and sound, and can only dream of his long lost wife's arms. The loving way she greeted him, the way she held him, the gentleness she had. He has his doubts about his new wife, but she was so warm and kind, he could only hope she was showing the same love to his beloved Snow while he was away as when he was present.

When the king arrives earlier than expected, he's riding on the outskirts of the forest, and a lone horse catches his eye. Once his eyes truly focus, he realizes it's not just any horse. It's a majestic unicorn. Unicorns are rare and majestic creatures who only show themselves to those they deem worthy. Her hair shimmers as if just spin silver. Her hair glimmers as if it's freshly fallen snow. The light reflects off her in ways it could blind you, if she decided you were unworthy.

As the kings men prepare to guard their king, he waves them off. Without question, they bow their heads and head towards the castle. The king stares back into the unicorns gleaming midnight eyes, and the unicorn barely motions its head to follow her. The Unicorn, making sure the king is following her, steps into the entrance of the enchanted forest. As the king follows her, his eyes fall upon his precious daughter and the great Huntsman Jacob. The beautiful unicorn starts to make her leave, all the while, Snow is waving her hand goodbye and smiling. As she is waving her goodbyes to her friend, she sees her father materialize behind the unicorns retreating form.

Shouting I'm excitement, she runs straight to her father, arms wide, her ebony hair billowing behind her, smile as wide as can be. The great king instantly forgets about the unicorn as soon as he sees his little Snow. His arms open wide, and as she slams into his chest, his heart is no longer broken. Huntsman Wild is glad to have his King back in the kingdom, safe and sound.

After all the reverie of being reunited with his daughter, the King is concerned as to why they'd be in the forest now. The King then says, "Jacob.... why must you bring her outside the castle? It's unsafe. With so many things that are running rampant, what was worth the risk?"

To which Jacob responded "I'll follow any Queen of mine when they come out of the castle, even little ones. Besides, your new Queen sends me on errands but doesn't come out her self.

"And this little one"

He says why ruffling her hair "hardly ever wants to be in the castle, she misses you, and her mother.... God rest her soul, but she cannot be still. She pines for this forest." Jacob then bows his head to respect the king for speaking more than he should've to someone above his station. Then, much to Jacob's surprise, his king then bows his head towards him.

"I thank you Jacob, our great huntsman, the one who keeps this castle in plentiful meat and also has the charge of the queen and my daughter, you still are honest and pure. I cannot thank you enough for the service and love you give." Then, getting onto his knees, he addresses his little Snow. "Please, let me make it up to you my little Snow what would you like, name anything"

Princess Snow pretends to think "Ride. I want to ride to the castle with daddy!!!"

King laughs, a deep bellowing laugh that carries throughout the trees " oh is that all my sweet princess?"

"Yes!!! Yes daddy!! Please??" she squeals

As she stands to the side, she watches as her father, the great king, struggles to climb into the saddle of his beautiful white stallion, Fireball, who stands no less than 18 hands, hooves as big as serving plates, but also as gentle as a kitten when needed, but as fierce as a tiger in battle, stands as still as a statue as the king finds his footing to climb upon his back.

Then, just as Fireball expects its, the great stallion bends down on his forelegs to allow Jacob to lift little Snow up into her fathers arms.

"By the way Mr. Wild, wasn't your horse white?" Said the kind

In surprise Jacob responded

"No your majesty, my horses have always been roan or paint. Why do you ask?"

The king shakes his head, trying to clear it and said "it must've been the magic of the forest playing tricks on my eyes." As he looks over and spots Jacobs mottled brown, white and grey horse and whispers to himself, but seeing a flash of bright silvery white before he can focus his eyes again

"Truly must've been my eyes failing"

To which Jacob says "are you ok sir?"

The king shakes his head again and sees the same roan mare.

"I'm sorry Sir Wild, but I thought that horse looked like a pure unicorn. So white it appeared silver. As long as you've been honest with me, I shall be honest with you"

To which Jacob scratches his chin and says

"There are many pure, white beings in this forest, unicorns among them, but I am sad to say, the one before you, is my roan mare, but she is as pure of being as any unicorn, just as your fireball here." As he brushes his hand down the stallions neck.

Fireball knickers and stamps his feet

"I think your horse is as ready to be home as you are. Please, let me lead you home, so I can be sure the path is clear ahead as one of the others can make sure you're covered from the rear".

They approach the castle, little Snow has crawled her way up onto her fathers shoulders, laughing and giggling the whole way, while the newly appointed Queen just sneers in disgust as she watches them enter the castle from her high tower.

Queen Galiana Wuthrich White is appalled and disgusted by the love and adoration that her new husband is showing her step daughter. Her, never knowing how it was to love a child or someone else, she was jealous.

She had always ignored the girl, she was just a blot on her map, but now her heart went black with jealousy and anger and hatred. For she, the now great Queen Wuthrich White, deserves to be our above everyone. Even the kings daughter.

Someone as beautiful as she, has never had known to be put below someone else in ways of love and adoration. Every where she went, she was looked upon by envy, lust, adoration, and she reveled in it. She could feel the power in it. Now, all she could see was a tiny child, one who was not hers, and was like a mosquito that she could eventually ignore, was now becoming a thorn in her side. Her very soul turned green with envy.

She just had to be the fairest and most beloved by her king... no..... not just by the king... she had to be the fairest and most beloved in the land. The way her King looked at that girl. Queen Galiana Wuthrich White would make her King love her..... adore her..... worship her. Or else.

The Great King White, who had been fasting to follow the same meals his warriors have been on during battle, finally breaks, only because he is no longer on the battlefield and wants to eat with his daughter, and realizes she's only eating what he eats, so he commands the kitchen to serve his men the same breakfast his daughter requests.

Flat cakes, meat pies, fruits in jelly, honey poured over fried dough, whatever his daughter asked for, he made sure his men were served the same.

Before all this, little Snow went to him, sleeping in his separate quarters from her new stepmother, in hopes 'she' wouldn't hear her woolen socks sneak across the flagstones in the castle.

In as quiet of a voice as she can, she wakes her father and begs for a grand breakfast feast, but only if the men fighting for her father can enjoy the same.

The great king just smiles at his daughter, even though he had already planned for such, made sure to tell her it was her idea that they were going to fed the same.

The great king only ate what his men ate, and slept on the same ground his men slept, even though his daughter never saw the bloody side or the harshness of battle, she still thought of those outside of her.

With the king being so busy with things outside of the castle, he truly did not see how uncomfortable his little Snow was with his new Queen. As attentive as he was, things seems to slip by him.

Snow always woke herself up by dawn, just so she could be with her father before the "mean one" woke up. She always made sure to speak to the kitchen the night before, even as young as she was, to make sure her fathers men were fed well. All the while, the new Queen would argue and tantrum over the food that was given to the men and the people under them.

Little Snow never loved the new Queen, but she tried to respect her. But the king would go out a new quest, every day, only if he was able to be home by noon. He would come home, pick up a picnic basket, which he had organized with the kitchen before he left, and go out to the forest to be with Snow. It didn't matter what he was following, as long as he was within a few hours distance, he was home to have dinner with his daughter.

Once the king spent time with his daughter, he would send her off to her tutors. After a loving kiss on her forehead and a bear hug, he let her go. Then the King spent the rest of the day with his new Queen, Galiana.

In the beginning, the Queen was content. She set aside the time her new husband had for his daughter, but she was still insanely jealous. Since she was not an early riser, she was able to forgive him for being away from her. She slowly became anger with each kiss her King gave away. So Queen Galiana Wuthrich White dissed to make her King a little sick just enough to put him in bed for the day. Princess Snow became worried, asked Huntsman Wild to check on her dad. He agreed jently knocking at Kings door. Angry face of the new Queen meet hem demanding what he was doing there at that hour the King was sick. When Queen Galiana Wuthrich White heard it was because Princess been eating breakfast with her King she slammed the door in Huntsman face and flew into a rage. Throwing things and spilling a sewing kit, an idea formed.

She had fine silk thread sprawled across the floor, so fine they're barely visible, and an idea formed. In the dead of night, she sewed the underside of the Kings bed cover to the sheets, right up against his body, but only using the underside of his blanket, so no other person, besides her, would notice. She had stitched it so tight, the king could not move, and as ill as he was, he could not speak. She sewed him in so tight, his breath was even restricted.

In the mean time, on the outside, she appeared to be the upstanding and doting Queen. Covering his head with a cool cloth, brushing his hair away from his eyes, cooing and kissing, whispering sweet words, all the while he struggling to even breathe.

All the while, in her whispers she'd say "this is your fault. Im the only one in your life. It's me. No one else"

While others only saw the sweet smile on her lips. Never hearing the sickly sweet way she spoke into her husbands ear.

Once word spread that the king needed a doctor, outside of his sorceress wife, who could heal all, he didn't bat an eye over his Kings condition. The doctor was concerned over how his breathing was so shallow, but he could see no outside cause, along with knowing Galianas sorcery, he didn't second guess the queens diagnosis as that the great king was dying.

The next day, Snow came to visit him. Even in his fevered kind, he knew it his daughters birthday was soon. The king brushed a curl behind his daughters ear and says

"I'm so sorry my precious Snow. Your birthday is only a matter of days away. Yet, here you are at my death bed. I wish for you to not see me like this. Just know, I love you. I love you more than life itself."

Tears pour out of the kings eyes, while brushing his daughters hair, all the while she begs him that all she wants for her birthday is for him to be well and for his kisses on her cheek and his hugs that never end.

As little Snow sobs on her fathers chest, Galiana orders Jacob to take Snow away. That she's only hurting the king more than helping him heal. Princess Snow sobs and screams, holding onto her fathers hand, begging to not leave, as Jacob follows his queens orders, but all the while he whispers in Snow's ear "remember how much he loves you. How much he wants you to be safe. You're his world. He loves you, more than anything else. You're the fairest and most loving on the land." As he's whispering this, Jacob let's his tears fall freely, letting Snow see that not only she hurts, but others hurt for her father and love him.

The great King Willahalm White's funeral fell on princesses Snow White birthday two days later. Even though it was only supposed to be a short time illness, Queen Galiana Wuthrich White Couldn't be more happier. She used the circumstances and use the time of mourning to get rid of all the Old queens and kings jewelry, tapestries, paintings, anything she could think of that would hurt little Snow, she locked them away before princess snow whites very eyes.

She might've been young, but she was years above her age, and little Snow grew several decades that day. The moment she saw every memory of her father and mother locked away, she knew things were only going to get worse.
